    Hahn and Williams have successfully expunged the ‘05 season from our memories with nearly two decades of “head-up-your-ass” baseball.

    The worst thing that could have happened is for Jerry to stumble into 7 championships under the absolute luckiest of circumstances. The White Sox and Bulls are big market teams that have not remotely been perennial contenders in decades due to their owner’s reprehensible apathy towards the franchises, the players, and the fans.

    • @MrStrongbox
      @MrStrongbox Год назад +2

      Yep. I can personally attest to his disdain for fans. I won some stupid prize that the marketing team cooked up some years back. I forget exactly, but the grand prize was: 4 free tickets to a home game, watch the game in Jerry Reinsdorf's box as well as meet him. When we got there, it was all disorganized and the marketing director was confused. She led myself, my wife and 2 friends of ours through the restricted areas that seemed to be underground at one point and I realized we were walking towards the field. Sure enough, we were led onto the field and we found ourselves standing at home plate, players doing pre game warmups, and the marketing girl frantically trying to figure out what was going on with, I guess, Jerry's access? She finally said, "ok, he's coming down to take an on field picture with you." We waited over 30 minutes. During that time I actually exchanged pleasantries with John Danks and Scott Downs as they were just doing their thing before the game, which was pretty cool.
      Finally, here comes the man himself. Short, squat and with a scowl on his face, he walked over to us and in an obtuse way, asked the marketing director, "So, where are these people?" I was standing to his left when he asked her. It was pretty frickin obvious. I was in my late 30's at the time so I thought I would at least tell him how much I appreciated what he has done for the fans by bringing multiple NBA championships to the city as well as our coveted 2005 season for MLB. Obviously there is much to be debated there, but I was face to face with him and I thought it was a nice thing to say. As an owner, I thought he would at least look me in the eye and say, "Well thank you for being a loyal Chicago fan and it's nice to meet you." Nope. Didn't even look me in the eye. Shook his head and kind of said "er, um yeah th, thanks ok lets take this picture." Took a few pictures he shook our hands, and off he went.
      Oh, and as far as sitting in his box? Yeah, the marketing director knew nothing of it. The silver lining was being on the field, talking with a couple players and getting free tickets. Seats were decent. But I'll be honest, that was the moment that I could personally confirm that Reinsdorf doesn't give two fucks about the fan base. It's hard to remain a Sox fan these days. I digress....

      As much as the players are to blame, have you seen the white sox roster over the past 10 or so years? They've made 3 major free agent signings in my lifetime, Liam Hendericks, Yasmani Grandal, and Andrew Benintendi, none of them turned out to be great signings.
      They made trades to acquire top young talent in Eloy Jimenez, Yoan Moncada, Lucas Giolitto, Dylan Cease, Reynaldo Lopez, and Michael Kopech, of which, only 1 has panned out to be above average in the major leagues over the course of a full season.
      They flipped prospects they drafted like Fernando Tatis Jr, and Marcus Semien for nothing in return.
      They had great drafts, getting guys like Luis Robert, Carlos Rodon, Tim Anderson, Chris Sale, and Andrew Vaugn, and we cant seem to keep them once they enter their prime, or we keep them and the front office is unable to build a team around them.
      They've had 3 managers in a 4 year span, in the middle of trying to contend. demonstrating they have no clue what they are doing when it comes to hiring managers.
      The front office has consistently made the wrong move in every situation that came up. They simply couldn't construct a baseball team that could win. If you make one or two mistakes in the front office, it might be able to work itself out, but this front office couldnt do anything right.

Here in Chicago, we have a few bad neighborhoods on the far south side and west sides where no tourists would even think to venture. The main tourist corridor is downtown which is far away from these bad neighborhoods. The shootings are typically gang related. Chicago hosted a record 52M tourists in 2018 before COVID and nothing happened to any of them. Last year, we hosted 41M tourists and nothing happened to any of them. During the 1990s, German tourists were routinely killed in Miami for driving off the wrong exit ramp into bad neighborhoods outside the airport. It was so bad that Germany issued a "NO TRAVEL," warning to their citizens to avoid Miami. Chicago has never been on any countries' do not travel advisory list.

    Rosenthal and AJ haven't been a GM or manager either, now what. I'll take the word of a Hall of Fame manager or a World Series manager like Maddon over clowns anyday. I don't like the Burger trade either so KW must have known he was on the way out. He had authority to trade with Marlins and Yanks per Kaplan's video so what's the surprise . It's great JR finally pulled the plug on the chaos, AJ is right about that.

      Ok but what does Maddon have to do with it

      Maddon knows how to evaluate players. The Cubs couldn't do that for over 100 years. He could find the right manager to lead a team from the dugout. None of the media analyst could.

    Very few people care about the White Sox. Bad location, poorly designed stadium, and they should consider moving.
