Oldest sibling here, but I get Sweetie's anger at the start. What she does is SUPER out of line, but having that feeling of being outshined, SUUUUUCKS. She said it herself, she wanted to do something all on her own, to feel that full feeling of 'I made something happen'. Going to Rarity for help was the absolute last resort. Theres a very strong drive in people, especially creatives, to feel like your hardwork was done with no 'cheats'. She lost the ability to say "I built this play from the ground up, completely from scratch" and the people around (wtf kind of adult just focuses on a single point for a KIDS PLAY is beyond me) didn't help because all they talked about was the one thing she didn't do. Making her feel like there was no point in even trying, because Rarity will always be the center focus even when shes not in the room. And even though I adore Rarity and she just wanted her sister to feel happy, she did completely overtake the dresses and make them more her own than Sweetie Bells. If Sweetie was upfront about her desire to make it all on her own, and there wasn't a time crunch, Rarity most likely would have loved to teach her how to fix up the dresses and make them look amazing. Not as high quality, but still completely filled with love. That look she gave when she got the dresses is very clearly (to me) one of 'this isn't the original'. I'd honestly say that she probably remade them all, instead of fixing up the old ones. To Sweetie, with her already lacking confidence in being as bright as her sister, it showed her that Rarity is willing to 'replace' whatever Sweetie makes if it isn't good enough. Of course Rarity isn't meaning that at all, but bad feelings warp good intentions. Considering this was a play, that she apparently wrote, directed, etc all herself, and the costumes were started 'weeks' ago, that would be absolutely shattering to show up after it all and hear only people talking about the literal one thing you didn't do. The one thing that got replaced. Imagine spending months on a project, getting help with one thing but doing literally everything else, and when it goes live everyone ignores your work, finds its 'unremarkable' or 'hard to remember', but that one thing you didn't do? Best part. That would be soul crushing and tbh if I had a situation like that I'd probably quit on the spot hahaha. Great video as always!
THIS!! I love both these characters but I especially love the relationship they have💗 they get closer over time and rarity believes in her so much, she just wants to she her shine ⭐✨
The Apples not immediately realizing the tonic was a fake makes sense when you remember that, in the previous interaction with the Flim-Flam brothers, Flim and Flam's miraculous cider machine WORKED (until they turned off quality control), and could in fact have revolutionized cider production - the only problem was that Flim and Flam wanted an unequal share of the profits, and were playing dirty to get it. Them having a NEW miracle creation wasn't THAT far-fetched. As for the epiphanies... it ties back to the central theme of this season: What the principles behind the Elements of Harmony MEAN when the easy, simple answers are taken away (honesty when a white lie looks like it's helping people, conflicting loyalties, needing to be cruel to be kind...)
I'm so glad there are people who agree! It's so funny ahaha, But I feel like he should react to it further into the series as there might be some spoilers from episodes he hasn't yet seen, although, in reality he is already ahead, but just in case.
And so you've witnessed the next chapter in Princess Luna helping the CMC's in their dreams! "For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils" is another one of my all time favorite season 4 episodes! I especially love that the episode title is a play on the old saying "Ask not for whom the bell tolls, It tolls for thee" and once again this is another episode that siblings can somewhat relate to because Sweetie Belle thought that Rarity was always trying to out shine her and a lot of people in the world have siblings that are like that, But thankfully Rarity actually wasn't trying to do that at all. And one of my favorite parts of the episode is when Sweetie Belle says "dresses" so many times she said it enough times to a point where it doesn't even sound like a word anymore. lol Though admittedly the CMC's did look beautiful in those period costumes for their play. And don't get me started on Sweetie Belle's nightmare, Hell to this day people still think it has elements that make it pretty dark for a kids show. in conclusion it was also good to see Sapphire Shores again, In fact to this day people in the fandom still consider the part where she says "5,6,7,8 ba bam" as a dirty joke. As for "Leap of Faith" it was good to see Flim and Flam again and once again they sang a catchy old timey sounding musical number. Though like everyone else I didn't condone their scamming, Not only that this was the episode where AJ's element of harmony was really put to the test.
One can say the CMC are slowly being approached individually by Princess Luna with their own little dilemmas or respective nightmares. In Sweetie Belle's case, her episode is quite wholesome over her relationship with her sister Rarity.
I'm the older sibiling here and thanks to the story of Celestia and Luna I was able to not get in the "same" situation with my younger brother. Since our parents were way too often telling him that he should look up to me 'cous of my better grades. Thanks to seeing how this can destroy relationship rough the tory of those pony sisters I was able to recognize this fast and have a talk with my parents about how it's really unhealthy for both of us to make such comments. They stopped and I am very happy me and my brother are really good friends :3
@@fuunhyde9795 Okay, that makes more sense. I was picturing you having this mature talk with your parents about how they were parenting you both as a 12- or 13-year old!
It becomes a pattern as you watch, Scootaloo as we saw, Princess Luna helped with her nightmare, and now in Sweetiebelle's she's helping with hers. It is by Princess Luna's lessons that they grow stronger It makes me so happy when he posts MLP because watching his reactions are so great. He's such a great guy 😭
All my years of being a mlp fan and for some reason I haven't registered until this comment that all the cmc have had their own Luna episodes where she goes into their dreams and helps them out
@@quinn9667 Like with a good movie or epic series, looking back on this show after having seen it all gives a new perspective. New connections can be made that were not as apparent at the time. For an example, try going back and watching all of the episodes in which Starswirl the Bearded was mentioned in order, starting with Luna Eclipsed, It's About Time, and the season 3 finale.
Lol ironic I was guessing placebo and then noticed the mods delete a comment guessing that too and everyone started yelling about spoilers, so technically the mods and all the people yelling about spoilers spoiled it by confirming the guess
I understand Sweet Bells problem, there were be siblings that can be better you or always get the attention, but it doesn't mean they are not doing this on purpose. Just tell them how you feel and try connecting with them, and you will have a bond with together.❤
I still love the fact Princess Luna is the only character with a consistent leitmotif. Not only a consistent instrument tied to her like Rarity or RD, but a specific melody that plays in most episodes focused in her ^u^ Also while I still think Sweetie Belle's actions were obviously wrong, I kinda understand her. She's just a teen with barely any parental supervision aside from her sister. She's just trying to make something big for herself and, being Rarity the way she is, even if well-meaning I can see why SB would think she's trying to steal her spotlight
00:27 - Sapphire Shores was introduced way back in Season 1 with the Diamond Dogs. 04:09 - It is true that Sweetie asked for them to be Perfect, but she probably wasn't expecting Rarity to have the time to go all out on them, which in the end Stole The Show away from Sweetie. And if the older sibling has been known to steel the spotlight on more than one occasion... Heck, even at a very young age, just one little thing in something that would seem like a very big thing can plant a stubborn seed of mistrust, dislike, or anger. 04:23 - Aaaand case in point if one's sibling is bossy, sometimes contradictory, and haven't shown enough love (like in Sisterhooves Social). 08:14 - Luna, the Spirit of Christmas Past, Present and Future! Oh, wait, it ain't kwissmis... in show... but it november now. XD But as Luna can come into dreams, she can probably read memories, and also manipulate dreams into a play of what could happen (or just plant an idea and let the fears play out the rest). 10:50 - Well, now here's a question... How long is a dream? How often does one dream in real-time? How often does one dream for a few minutes and suddenly it is 1pm? How often does one dream an entire day's worth of adventures only to wake up in an hour or less? I suppose time stops for Luna when she looks over everypony's dreams to see who needs help (the most). 11:49 - Imagine Luna tampering... well... she does seem to tamper in ponies' dreams. Through explaining what the dreams mean and how to cope, that is a type of tampering on their psyche to always wake up in harmony. 14:36 - There was probably a couple of flyers posted in town about a "Cure It All" and so they flocked hoping for a speedy recovery. 15:50 - Yeah, there is one negative side effect, assuming one is not allergic to the ingredients: Overconfidence 18:28 - If a lie would make one happy and honesty could crush a dream, what would one choose?
I remember when episode 19 of season 4 first came out my brother actually wanted to see why I liked this show so much and he watched it with me; After it was done he looked at me and I looked back and said "heh, they can't all be winners"
While Flim and Flam are never really "dangerous" antagonists, this episode and maybe the Friendship university one show perfectly how incredibly insidious their schtick is. They're the villains you can imagine the most just swindling your old parents/grandparents and taking their money without a thought.
“Je ne sais quoi” I think translates literally to “I don’t know what” which I guess is interchangeable with “Something”. I’m glad you’ll be looking out for your kids, strange thing to highlight ik, but I’m just happy to see actual parenting. Yeah Luna is Santa, she’ll make it. Aye you’re getting it, yeah each time we saw the rainbow it was one of the mane six staying true to their element when faced with a difficult situation. Flim and Flam were selling this “miracle juice” which could get someone to seriously injure themselves if they really believed in it, did you see the ponies with hind leg wheelchairs? They had folks with every ailment and disability under the sun gathering like Jesus was in town, these scamming ass brothers were really messing with the hopes of these people.
If you want to see more fanmade stuff, I recommend the Ponies: The Anthology series. I don't suggest watching it on stream, though, because Twitch'll probably flag you for a lot of copyrighted music, but it's perhaps the purest and most condensed form the Brony fandom has ever taken XD Also, the fourth one is basically just an advertisement for a Brony convention, so it can be ignored
Honestly I still don’t believe honesty is always the best policy. Sometimes lying is okay. Anyway it’s funny that while yes the “tonic” is a fake it does have good health benefits. So in a sense it’s actually good to drink it. However it is dangerous in the sense that it won’t cure everything at all and to believe that it does is bad.
I loved Leap of Faith. Not really because it was an Applejack episode, but because of the message that the mind is such a powerful thing. Most people dismiss psychology and mental health but the fact of the matter is that your mind can make you physically sick. You can actually die of heartache. On the other end, sometimes just believing in yourself is enough motivation to get you started. I'm not saying you're going to achieve everything if you just believe in yourself, because still and physical limitations still apply but your mindset alone can really change what you are able to do. That's why things like depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, etc. effect energy levels and little quirks around the body. Anyways, I love seeing MLP approach certain subjects in a way that can be easily digested for viewers. But yeah the lesson of honesty was nice, too, I guess. 😅
Seriously, I wish there was a way to erase my memory so I could watch the whole series all over again. That's why I like watching reactions so much, as its the closest I can get to doing that.
