Ape Escape 2 was, along with Jak and Daxter, the very first game I've ever owned a copy of. I had played PS1 games at friends' homes before, but this game is the first one I've played on the PS2 I just had received at Christmas. Which was my first console. So it holds a special place in my heart, as the game that made me truly discover videogames. I grew up with the French voices, as i live in France, but discovering the UK English dub here after all these years is an interesting experience. These voices are fine as well.
Fully agreed, his enthusiasm and goofy evil nature alone that he carries in his voice fits Spectre perfectly in my opinion. The other character voices were relatively bad.
Man I really prefer the American English dub of this game but I can't fight how beautiful the performance of Specters VA is here! In the NA version he just sounds so disinterested but whoever THIS GUY is he's having a great time! And because he's having a great time, *I'm* having a great time. That's the power of a fun performance! I wish I could quote my favorite line from this video but every time Specter opens his mouth is GOLD! And the script isn't even much different from the NA version it's just this guys amazing voice! NA: "Watch out there or you'll become part of the floor." UK: "WhAtCh OuT oR yOu'lL BeCoMe pArT oF ThE *FlOoRiNg!!!!!*" NA: "Specter I found you!" "Greetings." UK: "Specter I found you!" "Oh HeY tHeRe!" And his more appropriate tone for the breakdown right after. Love it
@@zhetimmeh3095 True true, the Professor does have a great UK performance! Though the Prof is one of those characters where I think across the board they get a good performance from, even in the NA dubs notoriously bad performances the prof stands out! (I think Monkey Yellow is my least favorite UK performance overall cuz they sound like a little old British grandma)
@@KichiMiangra I personally think it fits Yellow monkey, since she is supposed to be repulsive, and over the top wacky, it just strangely works, i don't know why.
Besides Specter and possibly White Monkey, All of the voices in the UK version are inferior to the US one. It definitely sounds like they had less VAs to go off of since the Professor and Red Monkey sound very similar to one another. also the varied accents in the US version really hit it.
They made the incredibly stupid decision to make two separate copies of the same games a North American version and a European version the European version has the Japanese names where's the North American one has new names
@@SuperstarPopcorn I prefer the French and UK versions because the Japanese names are more fitting for this Japanese-style game, and sounds more natural in my opinion. Names like "Jimmy" or "Spike" feel too much like westernalisation (which they are). I like when the names from an Asian medium remain Asian.

specter really carries this dub, the translations are arguably better than the US versions but the voice actors for the most part are really poor

I think the US version was dubbed by 4Kids which explains the cheesey Voice acting.
He might actually be my favorite Specter VA lol, right behind 2's American VA.

Don't forget about the professor! He had a great voice actor for the UK's voice dubbing aswell, imo!

Idk why, in the intro I like the gotcha more in the UK than The US Version
19:30
North America: NOOOOOO!!! I WAS SO CLOSE!!
Uk: AAAAAAAAAaaaGGghhhh!...
So fucking nostalgic that intro is
Pardon my French but gooood dayum
Gotta prefer the pokemon/american dub on this. All I hear is Ash Ketchum from Hikaru/Jimmy and Misty from Natsumi/Natalie
Monkeys: Gotta catch 'em all!
It works so well
Lol my childhood 💘😔
I agree with that. So much memories

I’m most confused about the fact that in the first game the characters had different names and then in ape escape 2 and 3 their names changed
They're different people. Spike, Hikaru, in Katie, Yumi ect
They made the incredibly stupid decision to make two separate copies of the same games a North American version and a European version the European version has the Japanese names where's the North American one has new names
In the French version of the game (and probably all the European versions), the names are Japanese (Hikaru, Kakeru, Natsumi, etc).
@@shibitoobscura3348 yeah, I prefer the American version more because the names are more natural sounding when the game’s dubbed in an English country

Zor/Master Zik/Zomom/Zeena/Zazz/Zavok VS Sonic and Little Sonic
I actually prefer the UK dub more
This sounds way japenese compared to the first game
What’s with the voices?????????????????????????
It's the UK version
Oh wow, the voice acting doesn't sound very good here, lol. I think the American acting did a better job.
I Beg to Differ
I'd beg to double differ. While the Uk version doesn't sound terrible, it could definitely be better... The U.S. version just sounds more polished.
The French dub is the best version imo, but this UK dub was good. Never heard the US voices.
