"How does Nick Mira do this" is exactly what I find myself asking when I watch his stuff. Dude is the king of casually making amazing music. FWIW, I think it's the pizzicato articulation on the violin that isn't working. I think an articulation with more sustain would have stood out better in the mix. Otherwise you'd probably need to compress the pizzicato a lot.
