Reptile keeper here! LEDs are significantly brighter than uvb so it may take some time for her to get adjusted to them. Dont worry! Also, she may be cryptic basking when you arent noticing, which means she's exposing part of her body under the uv instead of her full body. This is also normal! Just give her some time. If you're worried, you can add extra cover to dapple the light so it gives her more hiding spots and the opportunity to control her exposure. Edit: also, I have my uvb and leds on separate timers so they dont all turn on at the same time. You could try that too. If you're still worried, I would ask in the Facebook group Reptile Lighting. They're the experts!
Thank you! The LED hurts my eyes so it might be that that bothers her rather than the UVB, I’ll leave her for a bit and see if she gets more used to it
Awwh, I love older animals..Bless them all, the ones who've passed 😔😴😌 (never easy when have to rush to vets and make sudden decisions😒)..and all the ones we're lucky enough to still have!😃🥰
I so feel this post tittle. Sadly just lost my favorite heart rat ever. Then shortly after his brother passed , and now the other 2 brothers are showing there age. Then my Ziggy . The Family Dog mini dashound is very old and just holding on. He is in no pain, and still eats and sleeps very well, despite being blind and toothless. But he knows we will help him with anything.
I recently had 2 rats pass away before their second birthday too and both were quite sudden so I didnt have time to take photos of them either. They are my first rats to pass away, so watching your videos have really helped me through it and be more at peace 💕

I moved my leopard gecko to bioactive with a ton of hide and he did the same thing!! I noticed that sometimes he would stick his Lil foots out of his hid to get some UVB once in awhile. But overall he was so in love with his hide holes I rarely saw him!! He did bask on the rock I had under his heat lamp after it turned off in the evening and he hunted for bugs at night as well. I think it's totally normal she'll learn what she needs as long as she had the UVB available. I think geckos in the wild are very timid so I doubt it's natural for them to just full body bask under the sun for prolonged times. She's adorable 🤩
Sorry to hear about Twix... I lost my rat Lux to the same thing. Her tongue swelled and would not respond to any medications and the vet couldn't figure out what was wrong. She was more energetic then she ever was in the end though, silly thing
My lovely pet mouse pip is now 2.5 years old and it makes me so sad when they start nearing the end of their lives, although he seems as young as ever! Your mice are SO adorable
I remember when I introduced my feral rescue babies to my adult rats, I expected them to be a lot more interested in each other (especially my almost 2 year old boys) but they literally didn't even care that the others were there. Half an hour later and I remember they all fell asleep and one of the babies was asleep on top of the older one. (The babies were literally small enough to fit into a tiny toilet roll tube.) It was then that I knew they were going to be okay together and my two older boys really took to caring for the babies.
Ive wanted rats for a year or two now and i would now barely anything with i out you, you defiantly deserve 100k and it will definitely keep growing. Hope crumble stays for a while longer but he is a strong rat I’m sure he will
You reached 100k by showing people better care of something they love. I have two sweet boy rats that have loved me through so of my darkest days and I found your channel because I was looking for ways to return that love and give the best life I can. Congratulations on 100k and thank for all of your content and videos.❤
Well done with the 100k subs! I own 5 mice at the moment, I would never have owned them if I hadn't seen your "can all 8 of my mice live together?" video. I never knew mice could be so much fun, and come in so many gorgeous colours and variations. I still watch all the intro vids, they are my comfort videos! Thank you, and I hope you feel better soon!
Congrats on the 100k!!! You definitely deserve it...🎉🐁🐀🥳 My mice are getting old as well. I only have 2 now because I just lost my girl Freya...🥺 2 years goes by way to quick but the impact they have on our lives is massive! She was a wild baby mouse with her eyes still closed when i found her in my dogs lot. She was a little over 2 & i miss her terribly. Her sisters do as well. Thanks for all the great pet info & inspiration! I've learned so much from you...😊
Glad they're getting along! They're all adorable. I love how you just absolutely try and get every little important detail of your pets. They're like your children!🥰
Aww I love crumble ( I know I’m not meant to have favourites!!) I’ve been watching you for a long time now Emi and it is so nice to see that you have come so far! Congratulations! 🥳
Awe congratulations on your achievement, you so deserve it after all of your amazing content and just being a beautiful human.. Your babies are just too cute and that introduction was perfect. It's so nerve wracking introducing older pets with new ones. Great work, love your channel and look forward to the next 100,000.00 ...(so exciting adding all of those 0's) 💜Love to the family ☺️
Two of my leopard geckos will never come out until the lights are off unless it’s feeding day. Every once in a while I’ll see a tiny bit of tail out from one of my ghost geckos but other than that I give them the option of uvb and they choose to not use it.
Congratulations Emi on 100k!!!! 🎈🎆🎇🎊 I hope you're feeling better soon, covid sucks! It was fun seeing all your babies, happy to see your older guys getting along with your baby ratties. RIP Twix, it's never easy losing a friend.
Congrats on 100k!! You are such a kind person and you give all your pets such good, happy lives. You introduced me to pet rats and mice and now I’m so happy to have both! Thank you!❤🐀
I properly met bagel yesterday, he was having some free roam time when I went to pick up feed from lyn, he looked really well and his fur is the softest I have ever felt. He definitely is one beautiful rat 🐀 🥰
I have more experience with beardies than leopard geckos, but since leopard geckos are usually nocturnal it may be a good thing she's not out during the day as much. They need UVB to stay healthy (though I've seen that's controversial with leopard gecko keepers , but I did a college assignment on UVB in reptiles recently and UVB lights really are important, providing vitamin D3 only through diet was not recommended in the studies I found), so if she was more active during the day when she did not have access to UVB light it may have been because she was trying to soak up as much of it as she could and now that she has access to UVB, she doesn't need to stay out for as long because she can get proper levels of it in short time periods and spend the rest of the day sleeping. They don't need a ton of UVB, way less than other species, but they still need some. They also receive indirect UVB while hiding in hides, so she probably is getting a good amount that way too. I can't know for sure of course, I have never seen her in person and don't know anything about her past/current care or behavior other than what I have seen in your videos but that's my thought on it! If you see poop around the enclosure she's still using the enrichment you have given her, just at a different time of day. You could set up a camera and record her activity during the night to see how active she is too!
Firstly, congratulations on 100k! I've been watching you for over 2 years now, seeing your channel grow is awesome! ❤ I also had covid this month, 2 days I was totally down, could hardly move and I was vomiting everything out, even water wasn't really staying down. I'm also so happy that this intro went well between the boys, it was so cute to see the little boys playing with Pudding. 🥰
My leopard geckos don’t bask on their slate in the middle of the day, but I have noticed them basking in the early morning, right when the lights turn on. They also stick their heads/tails/toes out of the hide which is right below the uvb, so your gecko may actually be basking, just in times that are hard to notice.
I’m never awake when it turns on so I could be missing it 😂 I should get a camera to record her all day and see what she does. She was usually a late afternoon basker and I miss seeing her 😓
One of my girls, Pudding (my rattie) looks just like Wispa! I love your channel so much and you have helped me grow as a rat parent since I first took them home. Keep up the great content!
So sorry to hear about Twix, it's always painful especially when so sudden. My condolences, rest well Twix. My rat Ku laughs at Pudding, "700g? I'm 900". He's a big boy, but healthy, eh...maybe a little overweight, the breeder breeds large size rats. The babies are adorable, I hope I'll be able to have white rats someday too. I'm currently in the middle of an intro too. So scary seeing these little babies with my large boys (yes, hello mr.900g) But they seem to be doing ok right now, I hope they'll get through the 1st night safe and sound too. (keeping them on my drawer in the bedroom while I sleep) Best of luck with your little lovebugs :D
And of course congrats on the 100k! Your info is spot on and I always redirect people to your channel if they're in need of basic rat care. You deserve those 100k and more.
Wow, what a roller coaster. I’m so sorry about Twix, hugs. And hope you recover and have no ill effects from COVID, yikes. Yay for a smooth introduction of the babies! And the 100k, congratulations!!
I was so excited for your 100k cause I subscribed a few years ago, congrats btw! Then I looked and I had to subscribe again 😮Idk if RUclips unsubscribed me at some point, very strange, maybe I cleared at one point, anyways everyone double check you are still subscribed just in case, cause you never know if it’s been a while! 😁
I got my two females as rescues from our local humane society after being taken by animal services. They had little to no info about their conditions they were in, age or anytbing like that. The vet visits that were taken after being removed from their abuser before being released to me after the background check and home check went good, the appointments showed before they were pretty underweight and at time of release(about a month apart) were about average/slightly below average. I have another vet Appt scheduled soon and feel they're a good weight, they're slowly getting more used to me. I do hardly handle them unless I need to as often they bite hard and draw blood and are very stressed and shake and squeak when being held in my hands. I want to get them used to being held because most of the time sitting on me and running around my room is fine for the most part but I'd like to have them out for more than 10 minutes without freaking out and being terrified. I knew rescues would be a handful but didn't know i wouldn't even be able to hold and love my babies even two months after without them fearing I'll do something like I imagine someone else had and it breaks my heart. I know they don't understand quite yet that I'll never hurt them but I know they will eventually, I just don't know how long I have with them
You've been such a great well of information and your insights have helped guide us in taking care of our own rats! I love your channel and your pets! Feel better soon and take care
Congratulations on the award :) get well soon! My rats are doing great and your video's helped me a lot. Thank you so much and keep up the good work ^^
First of all congrats on the 100k 💖 Regarding intros: aren't you worried about the boys' third to fourth months hormone rush? Or do you cross that bridge when you get there? I have to get one of my 6 months old boys castrated because he attacked his brother 9 days ago.. And I had another intro in the past (young buck with 15 months older buck) where it went wrong around the 4 months age period. The initial intros went perfect, but once the young one's hormones started raging the older rat wasn't putting up with his playfighting anymore and started warning him more and more aggressively, until he gave the young one a belly wound
I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it! The older they are the more of a threat they’d pose to the others and they’d also have hormones going wild to make intros a lot harder. Hoping I get a break from hormonal rats but who knows 🥲
I get what you mean with the younger rats being distracting haha! My lil girl used to stare at me and wait for attention, for literal hours when I was on my pc- She just wanted to climb onto my shoulder or explore my desk hahah
I just got my first set of baby girls and they'll climb the cage and chill just staring at me in bed! So cute but I feel so bad as I don't allow them onto my bed.
@@Panda-cute that is so cute 🥰 the lil girl I had was one of 13 kids from our 2 females, Helios. She was a good mom to them, but did do stupid things too as a first time mother. (Tried to make a nest on a shelf that had no edges and the babies would have crawled off. Made sure she couldn't do that haha) the babies became such love balls that it was super hard giving them away and I was so crushed when the original 2 we started with went to a good home... We have no rats now, but I'm happy to say they all went to better homes as me and my partner had allergies to them. 💔😭 (I kept one of the kids my girl had so that I could have 3-4 rats in the end, but we just couldn't let them live in a situation where handling was somewhat limited. I tried to handle and free roam them when hubby wasn't home, but he still got aggressive allergies whenever he came back and I just couldn't let him suffer like that...)
Good Morning to you!! I need some advise please. I have 6 each wild baby rats that are somewhere around 4 months old. Their toenails are getting snagged on material now. Would it be ok to line their ramps with a fine grade sand paper and seal the edges of it with packing tape so they can't get under the edge to chew it? They are still too wiggly to clip.
Congrats on 100k! You have come so far and can’t wait to see more from you in the future 💞 :) Keep up the great work! P.S. I was wondering if your shop ships worldwide? Sorry you probably get asked this all the time 😅
0:44 & 6:04 I love how Crumble sticks out his little finger when he eats, like he's at a fancy tea party 🥺
You helped a lot of people, including me. You deserve 100k. Get better with Covid 😁

You deserve those 100k and more.
i love your channel. you deserve it! 🥰
Congratulations emi!!! you deserve this so much. you’ve helped me with my rats more times than i can count. well done!
OMG YOU GREW SO MUCHH!! I started watching you when you were at 40k :)
Wow, what a roller coaster. I’m so sorry about Twix, hugs. And hope you recover and have no ill effects from COVID, yikes. Yay for a smooth introduction of the babies! And the 100k, congratulations!!
Congrats on 100k!! You deserve it girl! I hope you feel better soon. Sending love from Florida 💜💚❤💙
Your welcome
You already have 102K subs. Well done :)
This introduction went wonderfuly! Also, Congrats on the 100k :3
I know they don't understand quite yet that I'll never hurt them but I know they will eventually, I just don't know how long I have with them
great job on 100k, you more than earned it! Wishing you all the best, and my rattie girls say hi!
You've been such a great well of information and your insights have helped guide us in taking care of our own rats! I love your channel and your pets! Feel better soon and take care
Awwww their so cute!
Congratulations on the award :) get well soon! My rats are doing great and your video's helped me a lot. Thank you so much and keep up the good work ^^
congratulations!! we love you
Really enjoyed this video
First of all congrats on the 100k 💖
Regarding intros: aren't you worried about the boys' third to fourth months hormone rush?
I haven't watched the video yet but congratulations on the 100k you absolutely deserve it. Love you lots and well done x
Love you, Emi!
(I kept one of the kids my girl had so that I could have 3-4 rats in the end, but we just couldn't let them live in a situation where handling was somewhat limited. I tried to handle and free roam them when hubby wasn't home, but he still got aggressive allergies whenever he came back and I just couldn't let him suffer like that...)
@@ArisuOkami aww I’m sorry allergies got in the way, but sounds like you enjoyed them while you could. :)
Congrats on 100k
Eeee early! The mice in the first shot are so cute!
i love your videos
Congratulations on 100k 🥳
there all so cute 😭💖
Good Morning to you!! I need some advise please. I have 6 each wild baby rats that are somewhere around 4 months old. Their toenails are getting snagged on material now. Would it be ok to line their ramps with a fine grade sand paper and seal the edges of it with packing tape so they can't get under the edge to chew it? They are still too wiggly to clip.
So cute 🥰
LOL @ polar bears. 🙂
Loved the video
Congrats on 100k! You have come so far and can’t wait to see more from you in the future 💞 :) Keep up the great work!
P.S. I was wondering if your shop ships worldwide? Sorry you probably get asked this all the time 😅
