- Let's go to the Dallas Northern Kentucky sports card show in Covington, KY on Friday, May 3, 2024.
The TripleCrown24 RUclips channel is focused around one dealer's journey through the hobby via card shows, discourse with fellow hobbyists, and grading submission reveals. Today's video recaps the buy/sell/trade transactions from my most recent card show.

Great stuff as always. Any chance you can include an in-frame thumbnail of the card(s) you're discussing at a particular moment in future videos? Sometimes it's a bit difficult to see the cards that you're referring to.
Possibly, I'd have to figure out a way to do that. On my cards I could probably do it.
Thanks for sharing. I always enjoy the insight into the hobby and seeing what goes on at shows.
Thanks!
Hi JT. Always enjoy the dialog between dealer / collector. Congrats on a great day. Talk soon my friend.
Thanks Stephen!
Great stuff JT! I really like hearing the interactions. It’s very useful to someone like me.
Thanks!
Are there ever any shows in south KY? I live in Clarksville TN which is right on the S KY line. Would love to do some shows there.
There are some smaller ones I see pop up on social media. I've set up at a few but they were all pre-COVID.
Congrats on a successful show! After following these from the beginning I know that the success comes with lots of work and money put into the cards that you sold. I also know how much work and money to reinvest in more cards it makes for you. Ultimately, it keeps the wheel spinning though and keeps the inventory fresh and makes for great content as well. It’s always fun following along with the journey!
Greatly appreciate the kind words!
You nailed it. Those repack guys aren’t fooling anyone that does their homework on the market and watches the breaks.
Yep and if people want to buy into the repacks, that's perfectly fine. The only thing I have a problem with is when they come up to my table crying poor and acting like they have strict standards for their repack values.
Strong show JT! Well done!
Thanks Ed
Congratulations on another record show! I feel like you are setting new records every month!
It certainly feels that way at times!
Personally not a fan of “what can you get to on this” as dealers we have sticker prices of what we’re asking and that’s the price we’re asking. If they want to offer than that’s fine. But as dealers we can’t sell everything for 70% of the lowest comp they can find. It just doesn’t make sense and is a loss every time
Yeah, I'm not one for "what's your best/lowest?" questions either. Normally I ask them "what are you thinking?" unless they are buying multiple cards, then I'd give them a "stack price". It is frustrating at times though. I could understand more if something wasn't stickered and they are asking for a price. For me, though, everything is stickered no matter what.
I've noticed sometimes in my area people have nice cards to showoff but none are priced at going rate they are hoping people overpay to get them .....
Yep, spot on
Was there another portion to the show? I was there at the convention center in the ball room part. This environment looks different.
As far as I know everything was in the same room. My table was near the main entrance
Great Day!
Yes sir!
Great video, thanks for sharing
Thanks!
A four figure sale ain’t too shabby for cash flow 🤪
It certainly helps!
Love the content, exactly what I'm looking for as a dealer myself. How do you create your labels (black/ gold)? They look so sharp. Thanks!
Thanks! Those are my friend's. He uses a Brother (?) brand label maker with the black/gold tape. I use an old P Touch label maker with the electric blue/black tape since it matches my colors.
Great content as always, JT! Random question, what Joe Thomas bowman rookie is that?
Cheers!
Thanks! It's a 2007 Bowman Chrome
@TripleCrown24 is it a regular refactor or is it a color?
Do you possibly know the name of the company that you use to display your sports cards? I’m trying to get a display case like that to setup at a show in the future
The more robust case on my table is sold on eBay by a seller named "Ausumsports"
@@TripleCrown24 thank you
where will you be setup this weekend?
Xenia
Was this the end of the gauntlet? Did you play passenger princess again?
One more week in this stretch. Only got to be passenger princess for part of the ride on Friday unfortunately.
Great show content. I respect that you stood your ground on the percentage of comps thing. 80% is not the standard and as a dealer myself, we’re already saving buyers shipping fees. I’m all for discounting on a card by card basis. I just did a show and had a repacker come up to me and flat out tell me he needed a percentage off the lowest sold comp price. When I told him no, he walked and someone else stopped by and paid close to sticker. It pays to wait and stand your ground at times.
Thank you. I think the keyword in your repacker story is "needed". They need cards to put in their repacks, more specifically, good cards that people actually want. They also need a certain number of cards to run their repacks. What they don't need is exactly what that guy was describing since they are making money hand over fist on those repacks.
I disagree 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I was at East gate Saturday and the promoter's who decided to schedule your show and the other, really just kinda ruined all the shows ..Thier egos of doing a show the same weekend as a already established show is ridiculous
Hopefully that kind of overlap doesn't happen again. I'm all for having shows every weekend, but three on the same weekend within a stones throw of one another is not productive.
