    Another awesome video! I just love these. One of these days, could you do a detailed walkthrough of an engine room including describing all of the systems? The level of detail you provide in your videos is fantastic, and would love to have that focus applied to the engineering details of a mega yacht. For instance, would love to understand all the different electrical systems and what it takes to keep them all running. Thanks again and keep up the awesome work! Thanks!!!

      Barry Goffe Hi, I’m glad you enjoy them, it’s always nice to get positive feedback. The issue is I can’t film inside a yacht I’m working on. If I can get the chance to visit a yacht in the future and have permission then I’ll certainly do this.

    Siran, which you show at around 10:40 has been there since the 90s. I was in Monaco with the family in 06, and we were at the end of the wall., where it was moored. My mother asked one of the crew who owned it, but he said he couldn't say (it's a HSBC bank owner from Armenia), but, she asked if he was happy, and about 5 crew members looked over and all said "No!!", one adding that "no one down here is happy". Telling.

    • @YachtReport
      @YachtReport  6 лет назад +2

      Every yacht is different. I’ve worked on yachts where most crew hated it. And I’ve worked in yachts that I’ve loved working on. It depends on how the yacht owner treats their crew and how the yacht’s manager treats them.

    What about the opposite exceptions that instead of the owner barely being onboard, the owner is onboard almost exclusively or only off for a couple weeks or months a year? I heard about an owner being on an explorer yacht nearly full-time for over two years. I would think that the needed work would have to be done around the owner or something...

    I know in a previous or this Monaco sock walking video you mentioned that the Lady Moura was given to a Lawyer buy a Arab royal but in fact on Yatchs for sale you tube channel Sabrina of Monaco a yatch interior supplier was talking to a Iraqi billionaire and Lady Moura is his boat. The mic captured Sabrina and the rich Iraqi talking about new furnishings he was purchasing for Lady Moura.

    It's so strange to me how a lot of the newer super yachts are so dull looking. Atlantis II at least looks like an actual ship, Lady Moura looks like a super-sized plastic speed boat. There's absolutely nothing "special" about the look of it apart from its size. It's like the goal was to make a super yacht that was as plain as possible, which I don't understand if you're paying that much for a boat.
    I think the best looking one in the video is the smaller yacht called Clementine (6:10) as I really like the color combination, the one next to it (The Great Escape) could be nice looking as well but you can only really see the stern so who really knows. :)

      Tim Moore - From past videos, it appears that he is on Royal Romance, which is featured in this video. And I believe he has said before that he is an engineer, but I may be confusing him with someone else.

    Lady Moura was built and still owned by Saudi Arabian Nasser Al Rashid, so she never been a gift from some prince or something, Atlantis II is owned by Philip Niarchos, has been sitting in Monaco long before the port was extended, she does sails from time to time but not very often.

      Ishank Thakur there is a channel buy a guy named Jared Watney and he is currently working and filming you tube videos on Arience formally super yatch known as Excellence V. He said one of the best ways to find a job on a yatch is to walk the docks / marinas and make connections with staff and they might let you know who is looking for staff. He also mentioned to frequent the cafes, restaurants and bars at night in those areas and network as well. He said it worked for him and a subscriber wrote him and inquired about getting into the industry and he suggested those ways to network. The subscriber wrote him back and said it worked and he was actually on the yatch next to him one week in the same marina. It really is a small world. Good luck mate. If i was 20 years younger I would go for it as well as it looks like hard work but rewarding in so many ways as well.

    I have a question I would love to know a little about if you could possibly indulge me. I've read/heard before that you are an engineer, to a guy whom knows very little about yachting, what would the average day at work in the life of a yacht engineer's consist of? And would you say you like your job or not? The only somewhat comparable occupation I know some about would be an engineer on a major rail line or freight line which with that job consisting of sidings and scheduling around other rail traffic seems not to have much in common at all. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Your videos are very informative. Now I will like and subscribe. Cheers.

      Hi, thanks for watching. Unfortunately focusing too much on myself would be bad for my career. This industry if a very secretive one and employers would be put off knowing I did this, even though I never focus on the boat I work on (unless I'm given permission to do so.) So I focus on other yachts around me and talk about the industry in general, to be able to share that with you without breaching my Non Disclosure Agreements. If I ever decide to do this on a more permanent basis I will be able to share more about myself. Hope you understand.

    • @kerocali5337
      @kerocali5337 7 лет назад +3

      eSysman Yes completely. I would then humbly request that maybe you do a video about your position in general. I saw the one you did on the various positions that make up a ships crew but my interest picks at the engineer spot.
      On a side note. I hope you will be able to do this full time soon, there's definitely a niche there. Thanks for getting back at me and be safe out there.

      It depends on your experience and skills. If you have an engineering background or navel watch-keeping you would be able to get into it. IF you are unskilled it's unlikely as it's quite ageist really.

    Lady Moura seems to just sit and depreciate. The Sheik tried to sail somewhere and had problems I think almost ran aground I'm not surprised he decided to give it away to his attorney LOL. The thing is just a basket case kind of depressing side of large scale luxury yachting.

      gareth price , what do you think people in developing nations think when they see a family of four driving and huge SUV they never take off the pavement. Or living in a 4,000sf house with no relatives in it. It's all relative dude. If the entire world consumed like a very average American, we would need about 4 extra planets worth of resources.
