    Your lectures do the impossible, they are concise yet comprehensive. Every time a question pops into my head while listening to your lecture, you answer it only minutes later. Unlike almost every other video, you don't waste time by illustrating beforehand and you don't go off topic. I have listened to your physics, biology, and now biochemistry playlist and I have absolutely no idea why your videos aren't more popular.
    Unfortunately, as a broke college student, I can't afford to donate yet, but I am going to recommend your videos to as many students enrolled in the same courses.

    So why is the alpha more stable considering the anomeric effect? If the hydroxy group is a methoxy, then the alpha is more favorable.

    I really appreciate your teaching style Teaching without all the juvenile references to emzymes and every other word out you mouth he's a really cool enzyme aka teaching not dumbed down for morons

    So are the terms furanose and pentose synonymous, or are only ribose sugars considered pentoses?

    • @tim_ogoti_visualize_itOnPiano
      @tim_ogoti_visualize_itOnPiano 3 года назад

      furanose refers to 5 membered carbons forming a ring (pyranose- ring of 6) but pentoses are sugars with 6 carbons ribose sugar on the other hand has five carbons

    this is not true
    Alpha anomere ispredominant because of the anomerical effect

    • @johnnypeng7261
      @johnnypeng7261 5 лет назад

      I believe he is talking about a water solution of glucose.

      Wrong doofus, it's more abundant than without the anomeric (sic) effect but still the β-anomer dominates.

      Lots of people pronounce it that way. Makes sense if you consider how the word bicycle is pronounced.
