    Awesome plane here! And a tribute to the tough men, and I do mean tough men, of the RAF that flew in and worked on these in WWII.

    I can’t get over how small the cockpit of the Lancaster is and how little protection the plastic screens give
    Top work I do hope it flys again

    Superb. I try to go see Just Jane at least twice a year but haven't been able to because of this coronavirus crisis so I am really missing her at the moment. Hearing her start up and running never gets old and is music to the ears. Brings my gritty eye syndrome back with a vengeance every time I see her, especially when the pilot opens the taps on those lovely Merlin's and She just roars. When She fast taxys (during the run), you can see her just begging to be let off the leash and take to the air where she belongs

    What a glorious sound! I visited East Kirkby a few years ago and came back the next day to watch Just Jane start up and go for a taxi run. It was a magical experience. I hope that in the not too distant future I'll be able to see her and PA474 flying in formation, and who knows, perhaps Vera might visit us again. That would be very special.
    You're all doing a fantastic job.

    Lovely to see and hear NX611 running again. Watching this reminds me of the day I did my taxyrun. I was stood behind the pilot (Mike Chatterton that day). Thanks to everyone involved in the restoration, and I hope I can come up and visit again soon.

    Terrific procedural video. Do you use airworthy Merlins for the taxi runs, or do you have a spare set for them? ( I know having eight runnable Merlins would be an extravagance!

    Fantastic video BUT ( there is always one) I cant believe the narrator picked the exact moment the engine was turned to insert the voice over 😩. Fantastic project, I think I enjoy this every bit as much as the Vulcan probably more.

      Try Sefton Clothing company, you can probably find them online. The ones we use are high quality replicas using original electricals.

    No 4 engine seemed to be making some sort of clicking noise - you can hear it quite plainly on the power down.

    Would this be the same starting procedure that the crews used during WW2 ? Without sounding rude, it seems a bit long winded. I assumed, maybe incorrectly that it was jump in, start up and go ?

    • @JJNX611
      @JJNX611  4 года назад +1

      This is normal proceedure but crews didn't necessarily follow the same engine order. The checks would still have been done except for the idle checks.

    What is the tacking noise which appeared to come from the outboard starboard engine or at least it stopped as the engine shut down

      Ignition lead fault. Very quick fix once we'd stopped

    What is the "ticking" noise on the intercom ? Do you have a HT issue on number 4 engine ?

      Yes there was on one lead, all.sorted now.

    Would you tell me if engine cooling is improved or not when not encased? Can the plane fly with covers off? Thankyou.

    • @JJNX611
      @JJNX611  4 года назад +1

      The drag would be greatly increased and I would guess the cooling would be decreased as I would think the air flow is less directed through the radiator/cooler
