I saw these guys live when I was in high school many years ago. I knew about them before panic at the disco. I still hate panic, and I've been a brobecks fan this whole time. What I wish is that if Mike Gross would have stayed in this band. I honestly prefer Mike's singing/songwriting compared to Dallons. But they both complemented each other very well in this band together.

I love the Brobecks, so much. Definitely isn't for everyone, the edge in this song is what makes it amazing. Upbeat and sad. It portrays a lot of people who you don't think are sad or depressed or have problems and then you get to know them and find out they do.
The way I interpreted this song was that Dallon was referring to himself in third person and first person. Instead of referring to himself and another person that was toxic and abusive. I think he was referring to this toxic and abusive "person" as his own depressions and (possible) mental illnesses that were controlling over him as a person and making him despise himself. What I got from those lines it was, he used to think he was a genuinely happy person that wasn't just a pretty face even though he does have one. And he never had to worry over not being happy so it was common place. Then time passes he's completely controlled by it, but no one notices because it makes him act okay outwardly.
