This comment is too little too late, but I found that taking advantage of the tilt away steering wheel really helped for getting to the two bolts on the left side of the mount.
Praise God for this video John, I pulled mine out of my '65 Tbird a couple of months back and I should have taken some pictures of how it's supposed to go in... well my memory is getting like Joe Biden's lately and I did a search for a repair video and here you are! Thanks!
Just took booster off of my '65 T-Bird. I was yelling at the screen "No, No, you don't have to take it out under the dash!". Glad you figured it out! These boosters are like hen's teeth BTW. Sent mine to get rebuilt.
Wait a minute...are you and Waly the same person? LOL And it wasn't all that difficult to unbolt the booster from the inside. I would have much more preferred to remove it from under the hood, but what the hey. It worked. There's more to come on that little puppy. Stand by to stand by. Regards, John
John, sir, I just have to say how much I appreciate you and your channel. I found you a few months ago when I was working on my 1960 Seeburg q100 which, coincidentally, is the model your selector unit came out of so your videos on that have been a tremendous help. Now, this last weekend, I bought a 1965 Thunderbird! Amazing, we seem to have similar tastes (just a year off). Mine is a bit further along with most of the under side and under hood work already done...so hurry up and get to the interior would ya! lol, just kidding, I'm a BIG fan of your style and would watch your videos even if I didn't have the same stuff... so I'll just be patient. Keep up the great work sir!
Thanks, Waly,...I assume your name is Waly. '65 eh? Good for you, my friend. Let's see a pic of that Bird. Where did you get it? And is your Seeburg functional? You sound as busy as me. LOL Regards, John
@@joernone Lots of folks call me Waly from my posts, but Wally was actually my granddad and his ’60 GMC is down to the last few bed bolts and 4 cab bolts in my shop…hoping some day to look like the picture I have for my youtube account. WalysGMC is the vanity plate I got for it and the project is sort of a memorial for he and my grandma. My name is actually ‘Ron’. I bought the tBird from a private seller up in Mesa, AZ. I was planning on hitting the auctions come auction season this January but this one came up and I couldn’t resist passing up on all those auction fees. The seller had done all the work; tie rods, shocks, springs, exhaust, motor rebuild, aluminum tri-core radiator, etc., etc. over the last 3 years. He had done some interior work too but the steering column, power windows, vacuum operated stuff, etc. still needs attention. I would have preferred the original paint (light green) but this dark green is nicely done. Once I get past the ‘need tos’ the first cosmetic thing I will be doing is getting rid of the mag wheels in favor of steelies and the original wheel covers. It does NOT look right with the mags on it! Still, I get plenty of comments at the hardware store :). Hopefully the Google drive share I am adding will work from this youtube comment.
drive.google.com/file/d/1d3KeiUBsGgh6_TGC3wE06g5luW4Z5pID/view?usp=sharing Yes, very busy, WAY too many projects. I have finished a couple of late 60s jukes, sold one and have one for sale now…just get enough to pay for the hobby so my ‘wifey’ will let me keep doing em. Also have a pinball machine under restore and finish work on the shop rooms (office, bathroom, storage room), etc., remains to be done. So, unfortunately, no, the Q100 still has a ways to go. I had been avoiding the tube era up until I saw this one at a yard sale last fall for $40 and couldn’t resist. SO glad I came across your videos…turned me from skeptical to confident about getting it done. I did finish the mechanism and that is working great. Traced the ‘issue’ to the selector unit and will be following your videos closely when I get back to it.
I know a great way for you to raise money for Christmas.....sell your T-Bird, in fact I think I will write her and tell her that YOU wanted to do this for her....LOL

Hello John! I think I saw a potential problem at time frame 20:52 where your hood spring is about top center of picture, look right below the spring and you will see a wiring harness with a LOT of wires on it that looks like it has a socket or plug assembly on its end through the firewall. At this area it looks like there is some frayed wires there but I am not sure because the picture is slightly blurred. You might want to check this out further !!! B.T.W. You and your family have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! John A Bellas KC2UVN
John, Trust me, my friend, all wiring will be getting a good eyeballing before the Bird is taken out on the main road. Now a mile or so down the dead end street we live on is another story. 😎 Also, I have the car's complete electrical wiring assembly manual. Regards, John
We're going from a high of 52 degrees to a high of mid twenties,,,, brrrrr,,, yes my friend, crawling under the dash seems to get a bit harder to do as we progress in years. ( and in my case,,, size oh no )

Boy do my ideas really suck. Thats gonna be my new year’s resolution- to have less sucky ideas. Haha. Great vid my friend. - always :)
Your idea was good. An angled box end wrench did the trick for me.
Wally,
Now don't be spoiling our friend, Ron. His ideas do suck. Learn it - live it. LOLOL

Practice makes perfect, Ron. I'll be keeping abreast of your progress.

Getting where? It's just sitting there. 😊

Today I learned that the jazzy band that played for Hanna Barbara was Hoyt Curtin, many songs by him on YT. Also look up Vic Mizzy, fun music.
Bret,
I pictured Fred in my mind but was unable to come up with the name. The Flintstones were a little after my youthful time.

How do you remove the check valve. ????
What check valve? From where?
Where did you get the insulators from?
