Just picked this bad boy up for Father’s day (home remodel underway!) and comparing it to all the other comparable models, it is hands down the best all around with the rack and pinion fence adjustment, bright, large type, clearly marked rulers (especially on the miter tool!), and very solid adjustments for bevel, blade depth and fence. The others out there have such cheap knobs, clamps and adjusters never mind ALL BLACK gradients on their miter tool??? WTF thought that was a good idea??? Anyway, lots of trim work done interior and exterior around doors and it just works so damn well!! Thanks for the review/confirmation. :)

3M blue painters’ tape is my friend. I have an ancient Skilsaw 3102 bench top table saw that had the wobbly miter gauge problem. I had not used the miter gauge for years since I made my first cross-cut sled. Just for fun, I taped the guide rail of the miter gauge with blue tape to take up the slop. It took two layers (bottom and sides only!), but the slop is gone! The gauge is useful now. The saw being reviewed here has a t-slot for the miter, but I suspect that it can benefit from a similar treatment (ie., wrap the tape around the bottom _and_ the sides of the guide rail!). Anything you can do to “shim” the guide rail is a good thing. The blue tape is working fine for me so far.

The first cut I had to make was about ⅛" deeper than the saw would extend to (a fence post I was cutting down to make a leg for some shop furniture) so I had to bring my old saw out of the retirement for one last cut :), but from then on the new DeWalt rocked. We're paying a good bit more for this saw in the UK, so I was keen to see if I'd truly got my money's worth and so far, no complaints. The rack and pinion sliding table is a great feature, and the micro gauge is a welcome addition to the scale. I like the storage system too. I take the point about the safety cover's extra exhaust tube being surplus to requires. Does a dust collection bag on the top and a vac on the bottom work? Seems like the obvious solution to me seeing as no one is likely to attach two vacs.
Great review. No nonsense and tells us what we need to know. This saw is quieter than my old one, so even that point didn't put me off.

I bought one yesterday and returned it today. it did not cut straight. Lowe's sold it to me as new, but it had wood dust and bolts had marks from someone putting it together and It had a blade that had been used. The reason why it didn't cut straight was that the safety edge behind the blade was slightly bent. no matter how much I tried it did not straighten out. I wanted to make it work, but when I saw a bolt missing near the motor it was time to return it.

I've seen the top and bottom dust ports used simultaneously. Bottom port gets the bulk of the stuff, while the top port can take care of that annoying stuff that builds up on the table surface during the course of many cuts. You would need to adapt your hose with a junction, specific to your hose and situation. A bigger heavy duty vac could handle a junction, allowing ample air flow to both ports. And a good feature of these saws is that the dust is actually propelled somewhat out the bottom port, so you could stand to lose some of the bottom port's suction by adding a junction to connect the blade guard port. With a larger 4 inch port standing dust collector, it would be no problem-more than enough air movement to handle both ports. Like mentioned in the review of the dust extraction feature, who has two vacs? I know right? But with some ingenuity and a decent vac/dust collector, both ports could be used and REALY cut down on the dust that ends up on everything. This is great for the home hobbyist or anyone who shares a space. Thanks for the review!

Recently I've bought DeWalt DWE 7485 Table saw. I love it. I think DeWalt beats Makita or any Bosch table saw. The fence (paralel guide) is ingenious. I have QS version of the saw (European version I guess). Both saw blade and riving knife (splitter) is a bit thicker than reads in user guide. The saw blade kerf is 2.4mm. User guide specifics reads 1.8mm kerf saw blade. It cuts with 2.4mm kerf blade pretty good but I've bought CMT 1.8mm kerf saw blade. I've also made a thinner riving knife from the old saw blade (some Chinese brand it was). Now it cuts wood like a butter. I love the saw. Your video helped me to make my decision as well. Thanks for sharing.

I have several additional issues after some use with this saw. 1: I need a thinner knife for blades with thinner kerf. For example, I was doing a few finishing cuts with a 0.059” blade and it was jamming in the knife. 2; if they have two dust collection ports I think they intended both to be used together or just the main without the top. There should be a splitter for the vacuum hose with a section of smaller hose ready out of the box. 3: once you get used to the rack adjustments foe the fence, you get super frustrated that the blade angle isn’t also rack. I found it just stiff enough hat it was hard to get to the specific degree I wanted. 4: likewise, there’s probably a clever way to add blade height measurement where a knob lets you tell the machine what size blade you have and a ruler and needle tells you the correct blade height just like the fence. 5:need to be able to lock the blade height wheel. I’ve bumped it a few times and the cut depth changed. Not an issue for ripping but is for partial depth cuts like slits/dado

Depends on what you are doing, it's a contractor saw, not gonna be spot on ever ( almost though), and some want the back of fence setting just a smidge away to prevent binding. Yes you can get tight tolerances but its not a professional shop saw by any means.... I like the addition of the smaller blade table saw, I do not like it is gonna be the only option soon, is that what's to happen? they should leave blade size options to us as customers, when you need that 10” blade you should have that choice.(along with a dado capability)

I tried one of these for a day. My initial thought was wow, super smooth, rack and pinion fence is accurate and great, depth adjustment is great, quiet, lightweight, dust collection is great.
The only issue was, when angle ripping what seemed like a simple piece (3/4" pine I think) the saw bogged down. I was able to finish the cut. Have you had any issues with the saw bogging down/lack of power?

I’m the same way. I love my DeWalt saws while the majority of my other tools are the Milwaukee, even a couple Makita and Ridgid 🤷🏻‍♂️. It just comes down to preferences and what works for the individual. This looks and seems to be almost identical to my 7491RS I purchased a few years back. Difference being blade size, mine accepts Dado and wrenches are stored on side. That being the case I can’t see it being anything but a great saw at a better price point but without the rolling stand (another reason to love my saw). Have the same issue/fix for the supplied miter and have not gotten to figuring a y system for connecting main and top dust collection yet. To be honest, my blade guard sits stored on side bracket and I made a couple zero clearance insert plates that leaves virtually nothing when the dust collection is hooked up to main in back. Am sure this one would perform equally as well with similar set up. Thanks for the info and everything else you do. Stay safe.

Mine is the 7480, which I just learned is discontinued. Not sure why, but this is probably its replacement. I love the one I have. I do need to install a better safety for the on-off switch, but I love all the features and ease of use with my 7480. This is a great model, with many improvement to it. Why did DeWalt lower the blade to an 8.5" from a very useful 10" blade? Great review. Hope you enjoy your new saw.

I just purchased the new Dewalt table saw with the attachable rolling stand I bought it about 4 months ago I paid 600 for it that's with the attachable rolling stand and I absolutely love it and also purchased the DeWalt 12 inch dual bevel compound miter sliding chop saw I like the corded tools just because I believe when it comes to these tools their stationery you set them up on a job site and they stay there most of the day that's the reason why I didn't go with the Milwaukee if Milwaukee would have made the battery cord combo like DeWalt I might have purchased then but love the DeWalt saw

@@ToolReviewZone I asked the Milwaukee Rep at the Elmont Home Depot buy me before I purchase the DeWalt saws just because that's all I ever had and I asked if they're going to come out with a battery cord combo like DeWalt and he said exactly what you just said they want to be totally coinless with every tool and that's why I told him I will not be buying the Milwaukee for that reason because they are stationary tools when you hook them up at a job site they pretty much stay there the whole day and I believe tools with that much power should always have full power and that's what you get from a corded tool but the rest of my tolls will be Milwaukee from my screw gun to my hard hat 2 everything

You mentioned that the product goes to -2° but when you adjusted it I didn't see it move beyond zero. The only negative review I've heard about this saw is that it won't go to 0°. Sits just + of it. Is this true?

    • @simeonvelikov2252
      @simeonvelikov2252 2 года назад +1

The angle setting is adjustable... if you look on the inside of the machine (at the back of the scale with the angels) you will see the stops - a rounded metal plate that can be loosen and turned accordingly so it matches the angles and also be allowed to go to -2° and to 47°. By default it is set to stop at 0°/90° and at 45° for convenience but out of the factory even that needs properly setting up.
      Hope I could help

Dado blade not used much on job sites, but you can create your own dado with practice. If making cabinets, yea, but you would have a stationary table saw and, well, I rarely use dado blades anyway. Also the saw weighs in at around 33 lbs, shipping is 53 lbs.

I got the 7490X last winter for it's 28.5" rip capacity, I replaced the DeWalt miter gauge with a Fulton precision miter gauge that has adjustable spring loaded plungers on the steel miter bar to eliminate any excessive play in the miter slot.

Nice review and like the camera angles with close ups,
    I am debating ...
    Bosch
    DeWalt on rolling stand
    Skilsaw worm drive
Bosch has odd rolling stand to set up for each usage, though well made, turn off try to see bevel angle quickly
DeWalt not much to complain about everything is in plain site
Skilsaw is worm drive also well laid out though heavier wonder if the larger wheels roll easier.
Keep up your videos and good work thank you

I would assume that the top dust port is meant to be used in conjunction with the main lower one , i would have loved to have seen a rack and pinion on the blade angle though, it is hard to fine - tune it without that.
