WOW! This is the only video that I've found that covers this topic thoroughly and accurately. This video should have a TON of views and likes. Others videos show cutting off part of the base on the Porter Cable tools. The other videos said the batteries could be interchanged but not the chargers, leading me to believe that they were electronically incompatible as is common with laptop batteries. I was going to buy the Biswaye 20V MAX Battery Fast Charger PCC692L because it works with both but now I might not.
I have learned that it is impossible to standardize on Black & Decker. I had originally planned on it since I have a Black & Decker weed eater with 3Ah battery, and later bought a 1/4" impact driver with a 1.5Ah battery and charger for $50 that also gave wonderful service. However, then I found that Black & Decker does not have a 1/2" drill, and the only circular saw they have uses a 5 1/2" blade instead a standard 6 1/2" or 7 1/4" while Porter Cable has both. Now I also need a jigsaw and sawzall and the Porter Cable does a better in the reviews for these than Black & Decker. I'm not seeing where the after market Porter Cable batteries are any more expensive than the Black & Decker after market batteries, and the reviews of the Biswaye and Powerextra brand of aftermarket batteries have the same satisfaction rating as the OEM Porter Cable batteries. It is easier to use a Porter Cable battery in a Black & Decker than the reverse. In summary, it is virtually impossible to standardize on Black & Decker because they simply don't some of the key items a DIYier needs, plus Porter Cable tends to do better in the tool reviews overall while their prices are very close. One thing that haven't seen for some reason are aftermarket batteries based on a modified Porter Cable design that fits both.
    PS: Bottom lines:
    - You cannot standardize on Black & Decker due to their more limited power tool line while you can Porter Cable.
    - If you want/need to mix them, buy Porter Cable batteries, which if you buy aftermarket, are the same price as Black & Decker aftermarket. The only thing you need to do is trim a small tab off the Porter Cable batteries to enable them interchange with both the tools and chargers.

Thanks, I thought about the vid for a while...then finally started analyzing them to find the differences. Then thought hey others might like the info and save them some time...a lot of time...feel free to share the vid anywhere, write blogs about or whatever. I try to share useful practical time/money saving info. Along with a few random things I do or places I visit.

Thank you for the informative video!!
I bought a Porter Cable impact that didn't have a battery with it, but I thought it maybe my Black & Decker battery would fit it hopefully (bought my B&D drill w/battery for $1 at a yard sale).
I found on Reddit a post saying you can interchange them with a little modification, but needed a how-to video and yours was the 1st one that popped up...
    Thank you again! 😁

Well done. It's crazy that they intentionally put those changes there to prevent people from swapping them. To avoid creating that hole in the B & D battery, I think notching a slant into the tool a bit would do the same thing.
