Petroleum Technology & Automation

The Petroleum Technology & Automation program at Williston State is designed to help students develop skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in today’s high-tech industry.
Most training is done in a hands-on lab on industrial training equipment.
The skillsets and knowledge can be applied to many areas of the petroleum industry. The coursework includes oil and gas topics such as petroleum geology and production, drilling and well control.
On the technology side, students take classes in electrical systems, instrumentation, and modern process control systems as well as computer technology and networking courses that can applied to the oil and gas industry and beyond.
Laboratory classes and experimentation help students develop essential skills such as communication, leadership, collaboration and teamwork. These are all critical skills for today’s tech industry workforce.
