Yes, during it's slots for shows it will literally cycle through the same episodes back to back, especially if there's a special. Night begins to shine (teen titans go) was played NON STOP for a week , back to back for a few days then over and over within the Teen titans slot. I honestly stop watching CN after a few hours since the show slots just repeat after a certain time. Can see how it's valuable for people using the channel to learn english though :)
I don’t know if you will respond back, but I just wanted to know if when you watched Cartoon Network did you look up any words, or did you just listen and then learn everything? Just curious
I have about 2 months into Japanese. And I repeat my passive listening content for example I have about 10 hours worth of podcasts and they are in a repeated playlist constantly on the bg. The only thing I don't repeat is visual content as it tends to be boring for me because I don't know Japanese enough to follow the plot so going by visuals alone will get tire some quickly. This is why I am constantly looking for new content to watch for my active listening. Although I've been thinking to re-watch things with Japanese subtitles on because I am interested in seeing my progress with RRTK and because I want to get into reading soon.
@@Liliquan Guess what it's ok that's such a great movie. It's for kids but really it's a family movie. Obviously you must love that movie. No shame in that it's a classic.
When I was in middle school, my little brother was in a phase where he loved the movie Cars (he was 4 or 5 at the time) So we would watch it nearly every night and to this day I can quote most scenes word for word
@Kenura Medagedara It does, of course as kids get older they advance. Obviously their level of shows they watch advances as well. They watch shows for their age group. It works for any and all ages. It's basically the same as using anki srs. But it's a natural form of srs. Kids rewatch shows at all ages. 2 yr olds 3, 4,5, 6 and on. So, I'm not sure what you meant. By, by then they're already more advanced. So not sure it would help? What did you mean. Never too old to srs with tv. They're too advanced for shows below their level or age group yes. But, they've already watched those a ton of times. When they were younger. So they've absorbed everything they could from the content. In that case yea it'd be no point rewatching shows below your age too easy. You go to your age or above it.
Didn't watch the video but I can totally agree based on my experience. When I was young, like every other kids, used to continuously watch TV in English. Since tv always reruns episodes, I guess over time with enough repetition, using both context and visual aid, words began to stick. Of course all this happened without me realising anything. Just goes to show power of comprehensible input, in this case watching same episode over and over :)
But I never... Ok. I've rarely re watched stuff in English. Like one or another episodes of AVGN, or something like this. And learned English. Ok. But I've read much more and rather technical literature and stuff, but without any dictionary. XD So it's a bit... I'm actually thinking about watching it in known language, then in target language. And this kind of stuff in general. But haven't tried it much.
Ah. Wait, there is one cool thing about re watching stuff. It's cool to return to some things, which you've watched some time ago and actually see the progress in the knowledge of language. ^_^
@@Soulskinner Well its not like i wanted to rewatch stuff but tv always used to re air old episodes. So natural repetition happened wether I liked it or not :)

People find repetition to be bad? Lol. I guess you'll find contrarians in every boat. Anyway, you get repetition whether you're dealing with old content or not, as you see the same words over and over again. It may be a different kind of repetition, one with a lower degree of familiarity, but repetition nonetheless.
Looking forward to your repetition experiment video with German. Steps I've been doing recently that seem to be giving good results: 1. Run video through Subs2CIA (Subtitles to Compressed Immersion Audio) that removes downtime between dialogue (I use 1500ms gaps w/ 750ms padding). Turns a 50 minute show into 30 minutes of near pure dialogue. 2. Read the subtitle script once along with the audio, pausing to look up unknown words phrases. Bonus points for shadowing. I use subs2srs to make the script, and drag/drop the text file into the browser so I can use Yomichan. 3. Listen to the audio on background or passively throughout the day on loop. Again, bonus points for shadowing. 4. Repeat 2 and 3 the next day with either the same episode, or the next episode. Reading along with the audio just seems to raise the comprehension level of the audio for when you listen to it by itself later. The more comprehensible audio happens to be, the better results you'll get when immersing in it. Of course, you can use Yoga's suggestion of using smaller clips by cutting the audio into smaller segments if needed. Subs2CIA and Subs2SRS both can do that.
