The most interesting in this that the reaction time will go down to 3.7seconds! That's deep water torpedo characteristics.
It’s a fantastic boat, if your tired of sticking to the concealment meta and want to run a powerful open water gun dd that can contest caps comfortably the black is awesome, running Halsey with bay and sims the mortar perk has never been more usable for a cap contestor as the long smoke and 7.5 radar make any engagement a competitive one. It’s up there with loyang as one of the best cap denial dds I’m the game
I absolutely adore the Fletcher so I’ll have something to look forward to in five weeks time. Should give me something to chew on while saving up gxp for either Friesland or Loyang.

Derka I fought you yesterday on two brothers ! You and your div mates ( both on Black ) destroyed me , I was in Flandre trying to support my dd ( an Akatsuki ) who got radared and died . I tried to run away but hit an island ... ooof that was embarrassing . Then I was asking an Iowa to come closer to me for will to rebuild but he kept running away from me loool We ended up winning because the other flank did really well . GG mate.
A great ship. Looking forward to gunboating with her. I will leave the torpedoing for Somers. I had a pretty good practice game with Orkan the other day, solo. May publish that.

I chose the Black over the Independence as I don't have any of the CV's by choice at least for now. It's not a style of play that I can get into. So far, I'm liking the Black and it's radar but those torps are slower than a floating corpse in a river of maple syrup. I really wish they had not chosen another American DD so soon after the Somers. Between this & that Belfast '43, the campaign ships have been underwhelming lately, in my opinion. If this campaign had to have another DD I think another British or French DD at Tier 7 would have been much more exciting considering those two nations are the only two out of the Big-7 with just one DD at that particularTier. I don't count Italy just yet (no DD Tech Tree) as they have as many available DD's (2) as they have DD commanders (2) which is another thing that makes no sense, but thats just me. I'll definitely use George Dewey! 2%more fire chance, more speed and range. Probably gonna use Blue Floriora for 4% more speed so I am gonna hunt those DDs. And of course fully packed, 4 radar lol

I'll have to compare more to Loyang, but it's a close competition. Loyang torps are better imo. And tbh her sonar might be the better consumable as well with it's protection from torps and longer duration. Black has the better DPM and health
I love my American dds so this is the first campaign out of the last three that I’m looking forward to but I definitely don’t think it’s the best t7 dd. I give the nod to Loyang there and I think Fletcher, Lightning and probably a couple others are arguably stronger. I would personally rather have a good long range sonar than the 13 second radar but I can see the argument either way. I think you give up too much dpm and torpedo wise but at least it is unique for the time being.
They nerfed this one kind of bad. They nerfed the reload by 0.5 seconds which is annoying because the black and fletcher have the same DPM on pc. The radar is only 13 seconds, I’d rather have a z35 style sonar which you can use offensively and defensively for more than 60 seconds. That radar duration with the reduced reload and US shell arcs means you won’t get a lot of kills on full health Destroyers. Maybe a wounded Japanese or pan-euro DD.
They ahould have saved the independence for a shop carrier or a bundle idk,its just not self explanatiry, like why would you pick a carrier in first place, and it's lower tier lol
The biggest reason they added her in the campaign was to test CVS in a campaign for future ones aka Graf zeppelin and enterprise and because her name is independence
I would say it depends on what range. Tashkent has a slower reload and less damage output. But more health. Tashkent also has way better shell ballistics and will score more hits at longer ranges

I'll test with mortar, usually never use that perk. I'll check it out!
T7s as a whole have become a lot more appealing in this update, and Black looks like a very powerful ship - might have to grind this out.
The addition of T8 is going to improve T7 soooo much

GG yeah we ended up losing. Our team abandon middle and their team sent two DDs right through middle. It's a simple thing like that that loses games.
nice review. I suspect in Divisions this DD with Radar will be most effective when your Div mates also shoot the same targets.

Space fishy gives 4 knots to torpedoes so add that to subsurface venture and that’s 8 knots so 43 plus 8 is 51 knots for Black’s torpedoes
