    A mysterial opening paves the way for a chaotic prelude, a boat set sail into the vast ocean to find a gargantuan mass, a horde of water, waving towards and always resisting, boldly. Overcame, approach the calm unmoving wavery of the sea, slowly built back to the same Mephisto encountered from the beginning of the journey, this time inescapable. The sailer meets his demise.
    Every note of the melody, the texture of the harmony, everything was perfect.

    This is definitely a step in the right direction. I suggest you stick with some of the material with this and edit some other parts because it is quite good.
    Here is some feedback(This is meant to be constructive criticism; I hope this helps you out):
    0:46 to 1:17 with the trills and other material seems a little lackluster. I think you can some more meaningful transition material that resembles the first theme but has hints of the second theme. Preferably something that sounds more like a cohesive theme as opposed to repetitive motifs.
    1:28 The second theme has some solid harmonic progression. I think some of the single notes you use in the left hand can really have more denser textures. The theme will benefit from that.
    1:41 The La Campanella-esque repeated notes are a little unnecessary. Considering the surrounding textures it's best you use alternating single notes instead.
    2:03 The repeated C octave is unnecessary. Instead, leave a pause and then start the first theme as the left hand anyways plays the c octave first.
    2:48 Go for something a lot more virtuosic. Currently, it feels too weak, considering the intensity of the main theme.

    A beginner composer here. Where did you get that melody from? Did it just come to your head or did you hear it somewhere or something else?

    • @MakoDMusic
      @MakoDMusic  23 дня назад

      Well, I think the melody itself is pretty simple (the three notes in left hand), this piece is more about structure, and portraying the waves and rough ocean. But to answer your question, I’d say just start somewhere. Once you’ve put notes on the page it’s easier to write more. ❤️

      Thanks man! But yeah theirs actually no definitive definition for etude other than it is a study of music. Chopin popularized the hyper-focus on specific technique, but others (Liszt, Scriabin, Rachmaninoff) wrote more broadly focused etudes! Thanks for watching ❤️
