Used to love this when my mum and dad used to take us to 'ballad sessions' in the 80's. About 30+ people on the dancefloor dancing like this.

I used to love when we would do this at weddings and in dance halls the whole floor would be packed great fun. Don’t see it now

Going to a wedding "down the country" in August and I know full well at some point the bloody "Siege of Ennis" will be played (which is usually my cue to run to the bar/toilet). Being a Jackeen I'm determined to learn the steps and shock my long-term culchie partner by knowing what I'm supposed to do. This video has been very helpful so thanks a lot to you strange bunch of dancing young people!

Maybe reflect on the tiny place you live in, smallest capital in the EU and quarter of the size of Manchester. I expect you think it's the great "big smoke" on par with London and LA. Ah..so naive.

Many years ago, I dated an Irish girl who took me to a club in New York City where they played this. The dancers joined hands and whirled around very fast until centrifugal force split one couple in half and they knocked down two other couples. Then things got hazy. People broke chairs over other peoples' heads and sirens sounded in the distance. I wanted to leave but my date said "It's just beginnin to get fun"

I love this dance. I am afraid my dancing days are past. I get out there and in a few minds I am out of breath and have to sit down. Very sad to me as I just love to dance. Will be fun to watch.
