How do you cut the tape whitout scratching the paint
Sorry for my bad englisch, thats because i’m from de Netherlands
The english was perfect. If you dont press too hard with the knife, it shouldn't scratch the paint too bad.
Stick a piece of masking tape on your but and start to cut. Believe me you will never scratch trough paint layers after practicing that.

Hi Martin. Do you have experience with the giro aerohead helmet?
It has a matt finish but the decals are glossy. I want to remove the decals but it seems they are coated which i dont understand.
However i want the decals in another color the matt white finish is ok.
Do you have a suggestion what I can do best? Maybe painting the decals?
Could I use also clear coat to make the entire helmet glossy?
Can you recommend the type of stickers you use? used to block when spraying (It's like that gray film)

Obviously don't want to jeopardise the safety aspect with it made of polycarbonate mixed with kevlar. But wanting a permanent result.

Martin, I love your channel. You are so funny. The helmet looks awesome! You have inspired me to paint some cabinets. Can you please recommend a good spray gun for an air compressor that provides 5.1 SCFM at 90 psi? Someone recommended an Eastwood brand but I would trust your recommendation more than anyone. Thank you so much for your help!
The wet fart of my neighbors dog has more power than your compressor. 5.1SCFM at 90 psi means at 59F. But working temperature is minimum 140-180F. You loose 1/3 of the total release and end somewhere at 3.57SCFM. If the compressor is cheap it`s not the release SCFM. It`s the typical lie and the suction SCFM. Which means you loose an other third of power at the release SCFM. To run a spray gun properly you need minimum 15 SCFM/ 355lpm at 87psi / 6bar at 176F / 80C at the release. My compressor pushes 56SCFM / 1250lpm at 145psi /10bar at 176F / 80C as a reference for you.

You can clearcoat with an Airbrush if you have the knowledge how to do it.
hi there, I have a carbon fibre frame. How do I prep the frame to repaint? Do I just mask off the carbon areas I like to keep and sand down the rest of the frame?
Tape a piece of sandpaper to your butt, squeeze your frame between your thighs and move your hips back and forth.
Do you get an edge between the glossy clearcoat and the matte clearcoat? If so, how do you remove it?
No. Just paint thin layers.

Martin- love your vids and ‘stupid’ jokes! Keep it up. Question; am I correct to assume that you need a wet sanding party with Sandra after every paint layer (primer, base coat, etc) EXCEPT the last clear coat? And if so, with 800 grid? Am doing my own job and noticed still some rough areas after primer and first base coat, although I had a fun time with Sandra... Prob not enough.
You need to do always a wet sanding with 800 grit before you put your pants back on after your big poop.

@@ETOE ein absoluter traum, gleich mit link vielen vielen dank. Ich denke mal die Farben müssen dann noch verdünnt werden oder? Habe jetzt schon mehrmals "Airbrush thinner" gesehen aber viele schreiben auch dass sie einfach destiliertes Wasser benutzen. Was würdest du empfehlen?

Martin Firstly i think lockdown may have affected you more than you think. on another note once you sprayed the matt clear coat on and unmasked everything can you get rid of the ridge between the matt and gloss clear coats or do you have to just except it.
Just use a ridge razor.

One or two minutes.
@@ETOE lets say im using vinyl stencils that cover over each other would the adhesive on the bottom of the vinyl be a problem for stripping the fresh paint underneath? Would one or two minutes be enough?

It's a carbon shell not polycarbonate. If you have poly use poly primer.

Man liest ja immer wieder das man auf keinen Fall seinen Helm lackieren soll da die Sicherheit des Helmes darunter leidet.
Da ich davon aber keinerlei Ahnung habe würde mich deine Meinung dazu interessieren.

Just a general question Martin. After spraying colourcoat over vinyl and removing to show white under vinyl, can you flat or will the colour bleed onto the white and stain? Hence the reason you lacquer first then flat?
