Great confidence game for Matt Turner! He really needed that after a disappointing season being benched in England And the five he let in against Columbia. Even with these few clips, you see how slow the US backline defenders are. That is going to be a problem for the US against any elite team around the world.
Turner played so aggressively. Well done! I guess he figured he had nothing to lose and went all out. It's a wonder the Brazilians didn't try to chip him.
The USMNT guys haven't had to sprint like that for 90 minutes in a while. This game was a good test for them. The ball was zipping up and down the pitch and every player, including Turner, had to put their steps in. Now, can they keep up this pace against slower teams? If so, they can finally start to reach their potential.
Brazilian fan here, the most important thing was that the USMNT didn’t lose out on possession while trying to play from the back as much as the Colombia game and Matt Turner played really well. Also, the defense looked very well organized, I could see two lines of players sitting in a low block. They have to keep that solid defensive play if they’re going to go anywhere in this Copa America. Because South American teams are great at attacking
Anybody out there remember when the US played Brazil back in 1998 in a Gold Cup semi-final? Kasey Keller was in goal and held off Brazil to beat them 1-0.
Excelente trabajo del arquero Matt Turner!!! Pero, yo conté más de 11 tapadas de él. Fueron algo de 13 en realidad, sin contar las de doble instancia 😊👏🏻. Saludos desde Lima - Perú 🇵🇪❤
2 maybe? Mostly these were shots that you'd expect a keeper at this level to save. It was a very good performance against a team that had like 68% of the possession and took a lot of shots, but they weren't particularly good shots and they didn't test Turner that hard.
Agreed with celebrim, these were pretty poor shots on the whole. Brazil couldn't get quality shots on goal despite having a possession advantage. Maybe the defense needs a little more credit than it got. To me the only dangerous one was the cheeky little shot at around 2:12, didn't look like much from the wide view but he actually needed pretty decent reflexes to save that one.
His eyes say fear when he plays out of the back. In contrast they show confidence when the team plays mostly long ball... All you have to do it's to take a look at both half to confirm this...
There’s no such thing as routine save when a 50 mph shot is coming from 10 yards away. He made at least 4 or 5 exceptional saves where he either came out to meet the striker and made his body large, or saved the ball with a quick reaction time.
I counted 10 that were certainly saves, and 3 that I could not tell if they would have gone in the goal if there was no goalkeeper. That is how I think a shot on goal should be defined, and even if the goalkeeper makes an easy catch, if it would have gone into the goal if he had not been there, I think it should be a shot on goal and a save.

I have been watching FIFA since 1980!! This is going the be the best chance for team USA to win the Copa America. Brazil is not even a shadow of their former self! Their defense is Swiss cheese! Is by far the worst Brazilian squad since 1954! Hats off to Matt Turner and I wish him the best for this tournament. But doing this type of performance against Uruguay will be the most impressive thing he has done to date. Of course, Uruguay are about 20 times better than Brazil at all levels of the squad. Nunez is much better than Endrick. And the Uruguayan defense is organized, tight and solid. Should be able to get at least a 2nd place in the group. And hopefully don't have to play Colombia for the quarterfinals (because Colombia is also 20 times better than Brazil, at the moment).
Gregg Berhalter still needs to be fired! I guarantee there is going to be more than one disaster during Copa. Just like what happened with Columbia, he’ll play his overly complicated system and won’t be able to change the game tactically or with substitutions. Gregg Berhalter is an average MLS coach at best.

5 went in against Columbia because our mids did awful defensive support. Most of them were not Turner's fault
USA vs Brazil for custody of Mexico 😂
😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Mexico might be the most fraud soccer country
When your goalie had to save you from 11 goals ? The insanity in you is string buddy!! And its a damn friendly 😂😂😂😂
@@dagosegovia843 Alisson also made a bunch of saves

Unbelievable game. Tim Howard-esque performance
What a game for Turner! Well done!!
This just shows how much work our defense needs
Brazil is so fast. They made our defenders look like they were walking.

Playing in the prem and the championship has really made him a much more aggressive keeper. Those reads were utter perfection.
Matt turner hasn’t played in the Championship.
Yeah, was at the game live he really bailed the USMNT out quite a few times lol.
Captain America 🇺🇸
Captain Brazil 🇧🇷
Well played by Turner. The video also did not show his excellent distribution throughout the match (except for the outlet that led to the first goal)
MATTY CLEAN SHEETS
Turner struggled a bit, but once he settled into the game he made some clutch saves.
What is Ream doing?
If it werent for turner how many goals would we be talking about? A 6-3??

When did they forget how to finish? 99% of those don't go in vs any keeper.
True, only maybe one or two of these were a big chance
Vinicius was playing like he was the only one in the team in most plays, like the one in 0:33 had he passed the ball up, that was an easy goal.
1 half-decent save - the rest were all routine.

Brazil plays so dirty…look at the attackers throwing players on the ground or swiping after the keeper has saved the ball.

the only reason it wasn't 4-1
4-3, because Allison made at least 2 saves that were even more difficult than the ones made by Turner.
He is good goalkeeper but all team needs more experience in big games
I feel like this match was too intense for a friendly match.
