    As a child of an addict, I understand why Simone wants nothing to do with her mother. It’s a delicate situation and I don’t appreciate how the media put all of that woman’s personal business out. It’s nobody’s business that she’s struggling and Simone doesn’t owe her mother anything. I had to have years of therapy to deal with my dad’s addiction and in that I learned to protect my sanity. That’s probably the stanz that Simone is taking. “No hard feelings but I’m protecting my peace.” Her mom made decisions to get to the point of addiction by the lifestyle she was living. Once addicted, that’s where choice goes out the window. It’s an uncontrollable state of being at that point. I understand that her Mama needs grace but you have to give grace to the kids too. They lived that with her.

      I totally disagree with alot of what yoy said. Maybe yoy took what you wanted from therapy to help you feel better. No sure sounds like you are still effected. My mom dad & step dad are all addicts mom step day are no longer here. I look at it like this. Who are we to beat them down when before use they lived a life we could never understand 50s 60s racist people and getting touched by family members ect. Parent's there Parent's could've been mentally challenged ect. So them making these choice could've been the only way to survive. We are here because God gave us life. Simone's mom did the right thing. My mom didn't send me no where I had to live that thing. And I took care of her last few yrs of her life, and she's my best friend dad as well. We can deal with it if you open your heart. We are blessed. No harm just a different outlook. ❤

      I think that black folks forget that we are actually very conservative and truly give in to the foundation of family and parenting and the selflessness of it all. we have low tolerance for others who do not conform…. addiction as a disease is also a very new concept so while we all probably need to give grace to addicts, self righteous people need to also give grace to people who cannot adopt it as such. Simone’s mom would not be dragged if she stayed out of the light. The internet is ugly and no one should be surprised when they get backlash when ur past is as checkered as hers. Do not come here for validation cuz someone always has another opinion that is opposing from yours. But this is a casualty of her life and she has to sit in the side lines and watch her daughter be celebrated while she is berated … that’s gotta suck for her. I don’t know what things people are saying about Simone’s mom, but I do think that she should stay in the background to protect herself. It’s none of our business at the end of the day.

    • @Kelaine72
      @Kelaine72 20 дней назад

      what other people do black folks forgive? Why do we always want to coddle people that make dumb decisions no once, twice but multiple times. Her mom couldn't take the time to pop a birth control pill bit she had no problem with crack? We never want to be accountable.

I have cousins that lost both parents to crack and then HIV/aids from shooting up. No one willingly abandons their family. We see how other communities struggling with fetanyl opiod criss are offered compassion, treatment for their disease instead of incarceration. We have to do better and it's starts with grace and love.

Now in my opinion yes I do think both are a choice and it will never be on the level of a mental illness or diagnosis of cancer. NO. THATS WRONG and HE'S WRONG! This isn't about "grace" or the "crack era;" it's about association. Despite her birth mother's substance abuse problems, Simone has the right to decide who she wants in her life, and her decision should be respected. It's not our place to debate what she should do regarding her relationships. We don't know the history of her experiences, so the best thing we can do is support her decision. Let's stop mislabeling the situation. ❤🇺🇸

    Funky, an eating disorder is a medical condition as well. However, I bet if you watched an episode of 600 lb life, you’d be talking ISH!! You wouldn’t have compassion for that overweight person living in a roach infested home lying in bed eating 3 pizzas. Yet, you say we should be “nice” to crack addicts. We know the history of the crack epidemic and the science behind addiction. Many of your fans are very intelligent. While addiction isn’t a choice, the decision that one makes that lead to addiction is a CHOICE. As adults, we’re accountable for every single one we make. Period.

If she wants to set boundaries, she has a right to do that. This was not the right time or place. Family business should stay within the family. Simone is the child, it’s not her responsibility to reach out to make a mends. Her mom should reach out and it should be left up to her if she wants to accept her after that. If she doesn’t then that’s part of the consequences of her actions.

      Grace is understanding that he has a mental illness. Maybe step outside of yourself and learn about his childhood, his trauma and what led to his drug addiction. This should give you a better understanding of him and help you release some of the pain. It’s compassion, forgiveness, acceptance while still having boundaries…..When/ if he is ready to receive help, he will.

      It's called having boundaries and I don't think funky is arguing against having boundaries. We can still demonstrate tough love, without condemning the person or writing them off completely, I feel like that was what funky was alluding to

      @sashamc9351 20 дней назад +2

      @@tiffanywade7867I agree with you and funky, 2 things can be simultaneously true, yes they are ultimately making a choice to use as they obviously prioritise the drug over food, shelter, children etc but there should also be tough love and very clear boundaries as well, which sometimes involves walking away from the person on drugs....I've had to do it with my mom and she died after....but I don't regret it as she disrespected my daughter and nothing comes before my daughter 💯
      I ve worked in addiction for over 15 years and I find that when the family leave a light at the end of the tunnel and have very clear boundaries...it can act as a motivator for addicts to recover

    Funky is misunderstanding Simone's situation. This isn't about "grace," it's about association. Simone has every right to choose who she associates with. That's the bottom line. The end. ❤🇺🇸

    Doing drugs is a choice. You choose whether or not you want to partake in drugs. Unfortunately people get addicted and develop a drug addiction that was a CHOICE. They also have the choice on whether or not they want to pull themselves up by their boot strings and get off the drugs. We all have choices in this life it’s up to us to make the right choices to avoid a negative outcome. She made the wrong choice and now she has to live with the consequences of those choices. I do not judge the mother because we all have our demons but it is up to us to overcome them and want to be better people and follow our BLACK Jesus Christ the lord and savior.

    Yes, people are not willing to give grace and love to act holier than thou but that’s not this story with Simone’s mom. For myself personally, I’m tired of deadbeat parents trying to reconcile with their children after their children make something of themselves. It has never sat well with me and I will never advocate for ANY child to reconnect with their parent just solely because the parent has come back around. Until Simone’s mother admits her failure in trying to raise Simone DIRECTLY TO SIMONE (and not the fucking media!), I genuinely believe Simone and her sister will have NOTHING to do with her. You don’t just deserve forgiveness because you come back around - you need to acknowledge your struggle and atone for your mistakes. This whole situation just unsettles me and I don’t like the conversation surrounding Simone because it is diminishing the incredible life that she has made for herself in the midst of all this mess.
