There were over 7 million past Conservative voters who failed to support their party in Julys General Election as there were 1.3 million past Labour voters who also failed to support their party. My opinion is that winning the 2024 election was looked like no party really wanted to win, because of the enormous challenges there were to clear up such a mess that our country was in. If you're not prepared for government, that's your fault. The point of the permanent civil service is to aid in the transition between governments. So if the civil service and the government aren't fit for purpose, maybe that says more about them than it does the system.
And let's be honest, no "transition period" would have helped this dangerous, wilfully destructive government. It is doing exactly what it always intended to.
