Worked like a charm, thanks. Some advice though... your amp shouldn’t sit directly on your surge. Excessive heat can damage your amp. Even if you put some small 1x1 pieces of wood in between them it would help so heat doesn’t build up between the devices.

It worked for my RX-v679. I had to make sure the zones were completely off. Then followed these steps and it is updating. You will see the *** and some info below it on the display. E.g. S1-15:45%...this was my experience. Your's might vary.

Awesome video! I just updated my RX-V681 to 2.65 and realized the update removes vtuner internet radio and replaces it with Airable radio.. is there anyway to go back to the previous firmware? or can a factory reset restore previous firmware?
Awesome! Heads up for a Yamaha RN500 you need to shut off the receiver first and then press return and power at the same time. Afterword use the scroll wheel to cycle to update. Press return to switch to network. And the. Press display to begin network firmware update.

My RX-A760 has been showing verifying for at least ten minutes. First time was ten minutes and then said "Not Found" ... My firm ware is showing at 1.21 I think. New one is at 2.60. Using Cable for network ... Any ideas?
Anyone know if we can get the rear speakers to work at the same time as atmos? Will this receiver ever be capable of doing that? If not what yamaha receiver can? I like the berr brown daks so I’d like to stick with those. Also I want preamps on every channel as I run separate amps. Which a lot of the new yamahas don’t have the separate preamps. But I’d like to stay in a decent budget. Not trying to spend thousands

I have a similar receiver but mine is not WiFi, when i plug the Ethernet cable it does not register a connection. Any ideas?
I got an Av681 or something like that. Just bought a 4k projector. Amp wont put a signal from my shield to the projector. Would a flash upgrade fix it?
I am not sure since I don’t have personally have that particular setup. However, it would probably be worth a try to upgrade and confirm the results.
Please, do you know how to update Yamaha n-r602 firmware to get not only 80 watts per 2 channels in 8 ohms, but 115 watts per channel in 8 ohms? I read the Manual 6 times, and I didn't find a way to do so. Someone said that I've to send a letter to Yamaha Company to do the "trick". But Yamaha Company is very confused... Example: when asking my phone number, there's no space to put my phone number completely. It's being very hard to dialogue with Yamaha Company, like other companies nowadays (Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Dell...).
I think they don't want to receive e-mails from any person. Do you know how to get the upgrade firmware from a 2 channel Yamaha Receiver, please?
How do I hook up receiver to even get a firmware update?
I've found multiple videos for updating via network but I don't believe my rx-v385 connects to the internet at all. Is there a video somewhere showing how it works when you update via USB? Having lots of issues. :/

Why did it say power off and you said you can power the unit back on and you press the power button? Wasn't the unit already powered on because it said to power off. Just a little confused
It automatically powers off the unit if you do not press the power button (you can see the red light indicator illuminate next to the MAIN ZONE button). After the unit turned off automatically, I pressed the power (MAIN ZONE) to power the unit back on (and the red light indicator turned off). Hopefully that helps clarify things. But either way, if you get to the Update Complete and Power Off! appears on the display, you've successfully updated the firmware.

How long would it take until network update will finish? Any time table? Mine took forever, can i just unplug it while AV still verifying?
@@icerthym31ski it all depends on your connection speed. I would not personally do the update unless you were hardwired into the unit. I just don't trust Wi-Fi all that much when you're doing firmware updates. If you have decent amount of speed through your ISP it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes. And no do not unplug anything until it is completely finished or you will screw up your receiver. You need to let the update finish and turn off the unit.
icerthym31ski I had performed the firmware update via WiFi. The entire process took less then 10 minutes.
hello hopefully you see this i have the rx-a3080 with usb it reaches the step 6 then failed internet method it says file not ready immediately and the firmware version is not showing in the settings i tried everything and nothing
Have you verified that you have a good Internet connection? You could verify this by trying to stream Spotify or some other music app built into the receiver ensure the music plays without any buffering.
@@ErikAsquith thanks for responding yes tried that it’s working fine no issues e there this error comes up 000400 with the usb and noting about on the forums

Is there an upgrade to fix the very annoying high frequency noise coming from the RX-A3070 receiver? Worst receiver ever had.
Just got the receiver and some times I get static kinda like white noise out of my speakers
@@dayonerecoverdub3626 Check your connection. It sounds like you might have them some wires crossed or reversed. Or Turn down zone 2 If it is up to high it will distort zone 1.
what does it mean if it says file not found?
Are you updating via network or a USB thumb drive? It sounds like it not finding the firmware update file.

Erik Asquith before, I updated again after a few minutes and it did do the update completely. Thanks though for the video.👍🏽
Make sure you download the update to your computer, then unzip (extract) the file. Then save the .bin file to the root folder on the USB drive to do the update. Otherwise, it won't work.
Thank you. It’s bizarre why Yamaha has to have people dig for something like this rather than just have it somewhere in options or menu. Ugh.

Unfortunately, no. I would need much more detail as to how it's not working and what you are doing to get it to work. How do you know it is not working to begin with?
@@ErikAsquith because it only says dd+ when I stream atmos movies on netkfix. I can hear the up firing speakers but it’s so soft. No way the sound can effectively create the overhead sensation.
I had the receiver setup on basic and have a 3.1.2 system and then .2 is the up firing speakers that sit on top of my 2 channel speakers ( I hope that makes sense)
I have the tv ( Sony oles) setup to play DD+ since I don’t see atmos option.

@@leonidvedine when something flies overhead, like an airplane, does that sound get louder and come through the up firing speakers? You won't get much sound up of those up firing speakers until there is an object producing sounds overhead.
