Randomly remembered this song today...dont know why, as I haven't listened to it in years. Maybe 5 or 6. I was obsessed with this for a few years. Listening to it really brings me back, almost like nostalgia. In June of 2010 I was out for summer break just before I started 10th grade back in my hometown in Arkansas. Now I'm 25 and going to school in Los Angeles, and I've been in and out of the Marine Corps since then. Crazy how time works isn't it? Some days it can take forever to pass, and then one day you're back on a youtube video that's 10 years old, reminiscing about the days you played music with all your homies in high school...crazy stuff man. Hope everyone is doing good out there.
Was just recommended this video today, and boy am I happy to have clicked on it. It reminds me there are so many talented underground bands, that deserve much more spotlight. Hopefully someday soon, Monarchist will return to produce more bangers such as this. 🎸🔥🎸
Wool! Djent with elephants... So hit you life and become a musical produced and not just a musician ... All we have the power to become our own producers. Create your song and show them to the whole world.
@DJZmusicproductions basically metal with a seven or eight string guitar, makin use of those lower strings. djent also tends to have weird time signatures and things of that nature (i.e Meshuggah)
@neilorourke71 Now lets not forget one pioneer in Djent...Cloudkicker. He uses a 6-string in Drop-B tuning...That's hardly considered de-tuning now. Djent isn't about the tuning or the use of strings, it's about the sound and attitude as a whole. However, whatever it is it's awesome and epic and we love it! :-)
People have really forgotten about the fact that music is not about the technicality and/or complexity, but about the idea of of respecting others and their styles of writing a song. Some people here make me really ashamed of being called a musician.
@RockSchooled actually meshuggah coined the term djent and bulb from periphery started using it and now its everywhere and now i guess its even considered a genre of metal now...crazy how shit starts and ends up
I like it I think it's chill Djent It's a good take on it Idk if all their stuff is like this but I like this track alot. but Djent always sounds too.. metallic to me. Metallic meaning the sound of his guitar.
@neilorourke71 not to start an argument, just a correction, while typically most djent bands use a 7 or 8 string guitar, there are a few good ones that use 6 strings... and meshuggah has even said it themselves that they normally play in 4/4 time signature, only they chop their patterns and poly rhythms up and it makes it seem like its in superhuman time sigs.
@Equivalence4 it isn't mainstream yet, but the word Djent is a good way to classify the sound because i listen to a lot of progressive bands and they don't use the Djent style so it's a good way to classify this specific sound
@XchasingthedragonX Wow, I have those songs (minus the Periphery) and I never knew what it was technically classified as. I am absolutely in love with the new Born of Osiris album, But I'm on my way to check out those Periphery songs now, thanks man!
@DJZmusicproductions neilorourke is right but djent is also a type of music where it is like jazz beats (not blues) and metal or post-hardcore breakdowns. all instrumental. it actually sounds very nice. haha.
@TheBaker420024 where did you get that definition? I always heard that djent is "an onomatopoeia for a heavily palm-muted four-string power chord" which is basically what your quote says, but without all of the details.
I feel like I have Meshuggah and a post rock band playing at the same time. As much as I hate modern trend labels and genre names being thrown around...I can't hate this... I just read about Djent in an article 10 minutes ago, but I fucking like this. I hope these bands build off it.
I love it dude. Reminds me of Volumes...in a good way. I kinda wish there were more bands that got to the point with the djenty insanely heavy and melodic stuff of Volumes with the super awesome breakdownish riffs - and breakdowns of course. I think what really makes an awesome breakdown is the china symbol behind it :D
@metaldrummer98 most djent music is with superior drummer 2.0 which is studio. and pretty much any touring band uses triggers just to get a consistent sound when playing
Quite a lot of experimental metal and electronic, and fusions of the two don't have singers nowadays, except maybe for just 'ahh' sounds. I suppose it makes you concentrate more on the music than trying to find meaning in the words. I personally think it works :)
@RockSchooled Forgive me, I didn't know Meshuggah were the only ones allowed to palm mute powerchords and play in time signatures other than 4/4. Silly me.
@AnvikThe why do people keep saying i need to relax? i am completely relaxed im just giving my opinion. And besides that, djent is a style which requires advanced musical knowledge and years of experience with polyrhythms, polymeters and deviant measures. it's not a type of sound (the sound you hear in this abominable vid) but a simple name given to a complex and advanced musicstyle which actually can hardly be described in one word.
@davethehostage It's because it's become scene-y. Pretty much everyone wants to play "djent" and make bow bow music until they die. In a way it's almost become the new metalcore. The bands who originally started it were genuinely listenable until the genre was crowded with bandwagoners.
The music is great. Nowadays there are so many similar bands, which is a good thing of course. The music still needs something... perhaps a vocalist. :)

Listening to this atm, definitely brought back some nostalgia from high school!
2022 and still diggin' this song.
2023 and I’m here off the same strange nostalgic impulse
literally just happened to me, glad I found the song inmediately
still coming back to this ten years later
I have seriously been listening to this song at least once a week for 5 years. You know it's a good song when.
Are you still listening to it?

Still awesome 11ish years later !
There's just something about djent that puts me in such a clear state of mind.......this song is awesome:)
Got me into melodic djent close to a decade ago, daaamn time flies :D
Still spinning this heading into 2023! I really miss the feeling of discovering songs like for the first time!
This song is a national treasure. 10/10 since 2010
This is why I love djent. Who would have thought you can mix the brutal music with beautiful sounds/atmosphere.
It's perfect combo..
Still listening.
Still listening.
one of the 1st ever "djent" song i ever heard. still love it even now.
What an amazing song, it's amazing listening to this so many years after the first time
Was just recommended this video today, and boy am I happy to have clicked on it. It reminds me there are so many talented underground bands, that deserve much more spotlight. Hopefully someday soon, Monarchist will return to produce more bangers such as this. 🎸🔥🎸
classical djent! Heard this 2010 the first time and love it so much!
I feel like the simplicity of this is what makes it so awesome. Not all of this type of music needs to be insanely technical for it to be amazing.
I remember when I heard this song when it was on 330 views. This artist is flying! I knew this artist was going to be huge and will get bigger!
Seriously this is one of the best grooves ever. I never get tired of this fantastic track.
Man this brings me back, and it’s still just as good 🙏
Wool! Djent with elephants...

this moved me so much! i hope i will hear much more from this!
Some of the 'scene' type djent bands that have come out are actually really amazing
Can't wait to hear more from these guys!
First time listening.... I like it
@DJZmusicproductions basically metal with a seven or eight string guitar, makin use of those lower strings. djent also tends to have weird time signatures and things of that nature (i.e Meshuggah)
these guys put the AMBI in ambidjent... takes you to a different place
So simple, yet beautiful. As for the artwork, I believe the city in the background is Heidelberg.
I think Djen is getting me back into metal... :D
Por Dios solo se que Djent es le re-evolucion del metal
@neilorourke71 Now lets not forget one pioneer in Djent...Cloudkicker.

so intense deep djenty guitar tone just wow

@RockSchooled actually meshuggah coined the term djent and bulb from periphery started using it and now its everywhere and now i guess its even considered a genre of metal now...crazy how shit starts and ends up
djent is so fucking cool i love the guitar and the fucking ambient riffs in the background
I like it I think it's chill Djent It's a good take on it Idk if all their stuff is like this but I like this track alot. but Djent always sounds too.. metallic to me. Metallic meaning the sound of his guitar.
This is so sick, I'd love to hear some good vocals over this!
really dig this song!!
Djent: Music for people who also know how to appreciate Dali's art.
❤️🔥
@Equivalence4 it isn't mainstream yet, but the word Djent is a good way to classify the sound because i listen to a lot of progressive bands and they don't use the Djent style so it's a good way to classify this specific sound
original djent.
@CodyOfTheWarzone it's the paradox of it all that makes sense and is invoking to clear our heads and put us in a realm of peace :)
veil of maya, skyharbor, intervals, ceruleus, absent distance, MONUMENTS, tesseract, corelia, failure in vanity, the list keeps growin
@XchasingthedragonX Wow, I have those songs (minus the Periphery) and I never knew what it was technically classified as. I am absolutely in love with the new Born of Osiris album, But I'm on my way to check out those Periphery songs now, thanks man!
YOUR AMAZING! KEEP IT UP!
For only being a couple years old, I look back and this song brings back good memories. Amazing song!
lovely!!

>INCREIBRE-

je l'aime bien!
2010 is the start of my journey in Djent , now im Djonthead
Well done, djentlemen.
@metaldrummer98 most djent music is with superior drummer 2.0 which is studio. and pretty much any touring band uses triggers just to get a consistent sound when playing
Still my favorite Djent tone
Quite a lot of experimental metal and electronic, and fusions of the two don't have singers nowadays, except maybe for just 'ahh' sounds. I suppose it makes you concentrate more on the music than trying to find meaning in the words. I personally think it works :)

i was trying to learn this song on guitar and as soon as i played the begining riff right the sun broke trough the clouds xD
@Joshua Bakker lol time flies
@Fed McGlowie found any other old comments?
Thanks
yeah this is pretty sick.
To add to the list of Nathan- Vildhjarta, Atlanticore, Periphery, Cloudkicker, Animals as leaders and Reflections
@AnvikThe why do people keep saying i need to relax? i am completely relaxed im just giving my opinion. Djent will be the next biggest thing that happened to metal.
I have a new favorite song
@RockSchooled I love how you completely ignored everything I said and just took my words out of context. Excellent conversation.
@davethehostage It's because it's become scene-y. Pretty much everyone wants to play "djent" and make bow bow music until they die. In a way it's almost become the new metalcore. The bands who originally started it were genuinely listenable until the genre was crowded with bandwagoners.
GOOOOOD!
The elephants are from "Les Elephants" by Salvador Dali, in case anyone was wondering.
Can someone tell me where I can get more of this band? This is the only song I've ever heard by them. But I'm in love. Haha! PPLLEEEEAAASSSEEEE HELP.
just, musicgasm
Really like this, too bad there's still no new news on the EP.
i really.. wanna do vocals for this song sooo bad too many ideas float through my head when i hear this
yes. yes. and more yes.
The music is great. Nowadays there are so many similar bands, which is a good thing of course. The music still needs something... perhaps a vocalist. :)
thanks

@iloveheavymetal1 They are from a Salvador Dali painting.
For sure...
HOL-Y FUCK what is this????? Amazing.
Can't seem to find any other Monarchist song on youtube. Can anyone refer me to a place where I can hear more of this band?
@iloveheavymetal1 They're Dali Elephants(as in they were made up by Salvador Dali).Awesome, aren't they?
