omg thank you very much for this video!! i had done research before i got my heat bulb for my mbk but according to you it turns out i’ve been using a bulb that’s way too high in wattage!!! lucky i haven’t used it very much but im gonna get a new bulb for him first thing tomorrow
Frugal hack for a little hbk I cluttered up my 40 gallon with paper towel and toilet paper rolls for my 1ish year old boy and he loves to just sleep in the rolls. He feels secure and I get to see his cuteness lol
Great information! Especially about the temperature. I think lots of folks assume because they are from Mexico, they need it really hot and tropical, and lots of times people selling them do not clarify or some don't even know they need different temps than other species.
Thank you for these videos. Just got my MBK yesterday and he's 5 months old. So far he immediately just dug under the aspen substrate and disappeared. He seems to love just going underground and hiding. He's maybe a foot long right now and I have him in a relatively big tank for his size (67 gallon 48'x18'x18'). My temps/humidity is sitting at 85f hot side and 78-79f on the cool and dark side with about 35-40% humidity on both sides.

I do this for hatchlings when I breed them!
