This is the definition of blues. Raw, dark, dirty and dripping with swagger. Doesn’t get any better than this.

I used to wake up every Sunday morning listening to to this album because my daddy played it every Sunday morning while he was taking a bath getting the motor city grease off of him, RIP TO YOU GUYS!

Deep dark raw blues at its best! One of the finest blues records I've ever discovered.

I remember when I first discovered this song. I was super into classic rock, and really rock of all kinds and was hoping to get more into blues. My guitar teacher, who knows just about everything about every genre of American music told me I should listen to Lightnin Hopkins. He got his copy of a Hopkins album, popped it in his computer, and within the first 10 seconds of the song tears were in my eyes. I had discovered something truly beautiful in american music history. This song will always mean a lot to me.

The first time I've ever heard this classic blues original was on an 8-track tape. Lightning Hopkins Sings The Blues. On the United label. The late 1970's. I was a young lad at the time. Great memories.
