  • Wearing my Seiko SLA055 on the Divecore FKM strap, I explain why my current aversion to bracelets should not be interpreted as a way of abandoning the watch community.

That same watch you have is one of my grails. Totally agree with you specially with the Divecore.

Jeff, you tried the Artem sail cloth strap? Got one on my SPB051 with the RM deploy-ant, super comfortable , it’s like half way between strap and bracelet to me.

Yes McMahon, I agree, my SJE093 is best on the tropic strap, both feels great and also I’d never dive with a bracelet. I really appreciate the ongoing obsession interrogation. Cabo is awesome, not gauche for the US, but maybe gauche for Baja.

Funny I’ve always felt the same about bracelets. I got the uncle Seiko bracelet for my Hamilton murph recently after so many praised it…man was I relieved when I put it back on the leather strap. I liked it but no connection

Cabo isn’t gauche. Now, if you told them you were going to Bali or the Maldives or even St Lucia then you ought to feel a tad gauche

My feelings about that watch on a bracelet are strictly esthetic. But, let's face it, you've got to wear it and it has to be comfortable. Both mentally and physically.
It reminds me of an old episode of All in the Family where Gloria got a brunette wig, and Michael became obsessed with her in the wig and wanted to make woopie with the wig on. Gloria thought it was creepy and weird.
Anywayz, changing straps and bracelets is akin to having a blonde, vs. a brunette, or a redhead!
Except you can change without it being creepy or sabotaging your relationships. 😅

I have to admit some of what you are saying is true making me totally irrational. A part feels like you not wearing a metal bracelet seems less cool and borderline subversive.

Which LX reference number are you talking about? The one that Todd owns.

SBDB037, which is tied with the SLA017 for the most attractive timepiece I've ever seen.

@@JeffreyMcMahon The SLA017 is peak Seiko 62mas , it doesn’t get any better than that !
The most attractive Seiko that i have seen has got to be the Seiko SNR051 , it’s a LX series spring drive gmt made of titanium with a stunning lunar grey moon surface dial, that thing is just unreal , have you seen that watch?
Also i think it would be a nice move in the future for you to sell the SPB143 and get the SLA017 , would fit in great with your high end Seiko divers!

The key to truly connecting with the watch, the old man had said, was to tighten the bracelet so much that it drew a little bit of blood. The thin metal links bit into your skin, just enough to break the surface. It was a whisper of pain, a crimson kiss that signaled the bond between you and the watch.
The blood, dark and glistening, welled up and was immediately absorbed through the caseback, as if the watch itself were thirsty. And then, almost imperceptibly at first, the lume began to glow. It wasn’t the familiar soft green or blue of ordinary watches. No, this was something else entirely. A malevolent burgundy red, like the eyes of a demon awakening from a long slumber, began to pulse with an eerie, unnatural light.
You felt a shiver run down your spine as the glow intensified, casting strange shadows on the walls. The air seemed to grow colder, thicker, as if the very room were holding its breath. And in that moment, you knew the ritual was complete. You and the watch were bound together, forever marked by that small, blood-red glow.

I’ve been tempted to join Instagram just to binge Tim Mosso’s short watch reviews but I must endure. I ditched social media years ago and, at least for me, it’s been a godsend for my sanity.
    Nice watch btw
