It's amazing how little things can matter immensely. The charging/clutter wall station in the garage and the 6" knickknacks shelf in the kitchen turned out to be worth so much to you both.
Nothing better than being happy with your choices. We got to talk to Alisha at the 2020 HDT Rally, very impressed. If we ever upgrade our trailer we will be visiting her. Thank you
I can nit believe it’s been a year already since you got your rig. Glad to have been there for you the whole time to watch you with your rig. Congratulations on having it for a year!
I worked for pso in elk city in1989-91. your truck and fifth wheel is so cool. AND I THINK your truck is nice . And l also fill a good spirit while watching you two.
Your placement of the refrigerator is much smarter if you don't need the seating because you don't have to walk around the island while cooking. DRV would be smart to just make that an option because I suspect most who buy this model are couples either full-time or extended stay and really don't need the extra couch.
Ryan... yes!! I am still trying to get them to do this, but for now, at least DRV does enough we can accomplish this at the dealership. Thanks for the feed back.
Congrats on 12 fabulous months, you have been very inspiring as you may already know. We are looking for a toy hauer and maybe, wifey loves your food plan, I love the garage 3 axles, the wheels brakes and independent suspension....we are even hunting HDT as I have mentioned before...but honest we are not copy cats..🙂🙂 Thanks for sharing your travels and sharing experiences...your fabulous Mentor's ‼️‼️
Thanks Rob. We started this channel to stay in touch with family and friends, but as you know it's turned into much more than that. It's very inspiring to hear some of our information has been helpful to others. This setup and lifestyle isn't for everyone, but we're finding quite a few are considering it. It always helps to get first hand information before taking the plunge!
Your core design requirements are spot on. The structural engineering is excellent. The only thing I might have added would be a payload specification and maybe independent suspension.
Good points. The suspension is usually an option on almost all the large 5th wheels. We were more interested in the structure that couldn't be changed after the sale.
LOVED this video, we have a 43ft Sandpiper Forest River. Okay I know it not close to your unit. Watching your video makes us go??? But we live ours, we not full time. And we need a little cheaper unit. Okay, I must OMG... I share this video to my friends that are ready to go full time. And looking to get new larger unit. Thanks
Glad you're happy with your rig Mike. Thanks for sharing....any time we can help others with our experience is a plus! Thanks for coming along and have a great weekend!
I can't believe it's been one year already!! 😂 Such a beautiful coach!! Couple more weeks and we get to walk thru a rear kitchen DRV. I'm so excited, I can't wait!! Told hubby I want to walk thru the front kitchen model they have too. We've been in our 5th wheel for 3 years now, and we both have found things we'd change if we could. That's so exciting Carol! There's no perfect RV - at least that we've found, so we try and make the best of what's available. Have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you very much for the one year walk-through! That is fantastic planning on your part to have it so well laid out. I'm very happy to see how happy you two are in your rig. My wife and I lived in a 38' travel trailer for a year. If you want to be a full timer for the adventure then go live your best life. If your thinking about it to save money then I don't recommend it. 1) You have to buy a large and expensive truck to tow your camper. 2) House's typically go up in value but campers only go down in value. We can't sell ours because we have too much negative equity in it. 3) Everything in a camper breaks. Typically if you want to use your warranty to cover repairs you have to take it into the shop. I just got mine out of the shop. It's been there since October. Where are you going to live while your house is in the shop? 4) Almost nothing you own will fit in your camper. Be prepared to buy new almost everything. 5) Campers are not a lot of fun in a storm. The rain is louder when it hits the roof and your camper shakes with every wind gust. 6) "Quality time" is difficult because the whole house shakes. 7) Unless you have a high end rig you're going to be hand washing all your dishes and going to the laundry mat. We bought a camper because covid turned our lives upside down and we needed somewhere quickly to move into. Long story... We would have been far better off renting an apartment and paying a break lease fee.
We live in our rig because we wanted to see what this great country of ours has to offer and be able to visit friends and family that live all across the states. It's been an adventure that we cherish and wouldn't change a thing up to this point. Sorry you had issues that forced you into a lifestyle that you're not happy with. Hopefully things will change for you soon.

Thanks for doing this 12 month review, guys. We full time in a 38 RSSA and just love it. (No Can Am to haul!) Got some of our inspiration from your prior rig. I enjoyed some of your detailed comments on things like the ceiling storage cabinets being tapered (ours are) and, although I see the aesthetic consistency with the other uppers in our coach, I too wish they were deeper and straight across. Glad you’re happy with your customizations. Little details are important when we live full time in these small abodes. Appreciate your videos and support for our DRV products.
Thanks Eric....glad you're enjoying your rig. We don't promote anything we don't use ourselves or aren't happy with. We're very happy with our rig and our dealer is top notch. Have a wonderful weekend!
I live in a council house in the Isle of Man (Great Britain) and this lifestyle is a million miles away from mine but goodness me, what a lovely life you have built for yourselves! I adore your rig and it is so homely and well thought out. Alicia sounds like she was heaven sent to help you realise your dreams for it. Hope you have a wonderful Easter and many happy travels!
I wanted to let you know I wouldn’t change a thing in your fifth wheel. Like you said Alicia hit it out of the ball park. Great job Rolling Retreats! I hope you both have a great weekend and a Happy Easter!🐰🐣🐇 Love you both!
You should check out the companies that custom semi trailers, my old boss has a 53' custom semi with 6 slides His is a waymatic and the previous one was a space craft
Regarding the slideout overhead storage which is 16inches...they could make it 18inches by popping the face frame off and add a 2inch thick face frame spacer and pop it back on...think it would only take a few hours to do the mod.
Hey Guys! Can't believe it's been a year already! Windy is the first thing we think of with Texas. 6 months there and we were never able to have our awning out. Great video! You guys are looking awsome and healthy...thank goodness!! 😉 hope to see u again soon.
You did a great job on the floor plan design. Beautiful coach… I love the outside color scheme too. Question, what do you use to hold the pictures to the wall?
I have to admit, the first time you mentioned moving the refrigerator there in your walk-thru video, I wasn't a fan. It has really grown on me, to the point that I'm thinking about working with Rolling Retreats to recreate your rig. Thanks for making all this great content! I plan on getting a Can-Am as well. Can you guys make a video about selecting the Can-Am and how it worked with the 13' garage? Also, one of your vids I saw banks of batteries in the basement. Is this for a solar package and for boon docking? Can you do a video on the electric setup? Thanks again!
Hey Folks, I've missed You. I'm alittle behind on couple of videos. I've been sick ever since I've been back out here in Arizona had double walking pneumonia and I'm just now starting to feel up to snuff a little bit but I haven't felt like doing anything so it's good to see your videos helps refresh me a little bit I hope I really get a chance to see you guys while I'm out here I should be out here till the first part of June so if you had a chance to make it through would be terrific safe travels we'll talk to you later and I'm glad you got the RV fixed yeah I'm still not up to snuff okay we'll talk to you later I miss you both very much bye-bye
Hi guys... We are glad that you got it customized the way you want it.. good that you are happy....we feel the same way about ours....got it the way we want it... Now if we can just get the fuel prices to drop... Do something with the inflation... Maybe we could Enjoy our retirement a little better... You guys stay safe... take care....J&A
G’day from Australia. Just found your channel, and due to getting covid I’m watching episode after episode Just curious, what did you guys do for a living before you retired . One day I’d love to live this lifestyle. Keep up the great work guys . Cheers 🍺
Hello and thanks Nags! Jim retired from the Federal Government and Kellie worked with the local school district. We tried to be smart with our money and after we sold our house we decided it was time to make some memories. We're very cautious with our money and live on a pretty strict budget and we're loving every minute of it!
Still in awe of y’all’s coach! Questions regarding towing with a 1ton dually. What’s the coach GVWR and the pin weight without the can-am? Reason I asked is that I saw the Ram dually delivering it in the opening video
I bet you would have to sign a waver because it’s too heavy even for a dully 1 ton. That truck you seen was probably only used to move the rig around on that property.
The GVWR of our MX450 is 24k and the pin weight should be around 4k based on averages. We know quite a few owners that pull with a 1-ton dually or F450.
@@SuiteTravels .. wow … ran the numbers through a tow calculator. While still legal with my 2020 f350 dually (which has 5353 available payload) it surely is close. I can see where having a toy in the garage can help the pin weight. Thanks for the info.
Has it really bean a year already? Oh wow, it really doesn't seem like it. It's probably due to everything else that is going on right now in this world. I couldn't help but think how perfect your rig is. While listening to both of your describe the reasoning behind why and how all of the changes were made I realized your beautiful rolling home is absolutely perfect for you guys. As they say, "It fits the bill to a T." I pray it blesses you for many more years to come. Have a blessed week guys.
They are a Stressless brand Bart. We've been very happy with them: www.stressless.com/gu-in/stressless-recliners/stressless-chelsea-stressless-mayfair-stressless-kensington/mayfair-signature
Love your rig. Wondering why you didn't have them move those floor vents? Several rigs we are looking at to upgrade do not have floor vents. I always hate stepping on ours.
Well David, that's a tough question. We ordered and took delivery prior to the huge price increases in RVs over the last year, so today's prices are much higher and not really comparable. If you really want a comparison with current pricing, our dealer has a rig very similar to ours arriving soon and you could call them and see what they have it priced at. We service the truck once a year with oil change, all filters, lube and inspection and we pay around $400 for the service.
If u have a pick-up truck with a big bed u can park a motorcycle the same u did with the smart? Like on the bed of the truck and still can tow properly?
@@horia9044 With the pin weight you have to have it over the axel with a Pickup. With the HDT you can put the hitch all the way in the rear. Most of the HDTs have about 18inches of frame added to the rear to make room for the car.
Not in this video Cyn because we didn't modify anything in the bedroom. Pretty standard with a king bed and full front closet. If you want to see the full rig you can view our full tour video!
I was just curious, since you're not using your tractor for occupational purposes, are you bound by the DOT driving regulations? Or is it treated as you're just driving a regular vehicle?
Jim, Kelly, love the coach. How ever we need the 18' garage for our business equipment. So we need the Grand Design Momentum 398MR. Safe travels and roads Brian and Cindy,"xtreambydesign with passion"
Sandra WestleyUK, you cannot do that in the UK, double tow, it’s against the law here.😇 all our vans are double glazed, it’s impossible to buy one that’s not double glazed, so are the walls, and floors, insulated to use in freezing weather, we also have disc brakes on each wheel, and also some new fangled thing that stops any sway (sorry don’t know what it’s called) 😂 but it dampens any sway at sauce. I had to laugh at I never use the oven, me, I never use the hob, I only use an over and a microwave, if I have to use the hob I just won’t buy the foods cooked on a hob, but we don’t full time, I cook and freeze lots of meals, then I just cook vegetables in the microwave and microwave the meat I’ve already cooked and frozen.
Double towing was an adventure for us Sandra...we were really long and trying to stop for one night was a pain. We have been RVing for almost 40 years and we can count on one hand the number of times we've used the oven.
Okay folks when I get ready to go shopping I would love to bring you along. Great video! Of course I will be getting something much smaller Lol I did not realize you could actually make those changes, I thought you pick out what's on the lot. Custom build should like the way to go if you can afford it.
Thanks Tina! We try and educate our community so they know what's available on the market. It's not the added price that a custom rig might be, but it takes some time to get the build done. It's hard to have the patience to wait. Have a great weekend!
Hello Ron. Sorry you have had difficulties. There are a lot of things we change or fix in PDI before we turn our rigs over to our customers. I will be happy to try to help you resolve your issues, feel free to reach out to me anytime. Alicia
Hmmmm....we've seen what the real estate market had been doing in the last couple of years and we are well below the average price of a home today - but we get it!
Sounds like Alicia is an excellent advocate for her customers. You are fortunate to have such a person on your side in the RV buying process.
Rolling Retreats they are the very best in the industry they are 2nd to none
They sure do a great job with customer service Mike. Hope all is well with you - have a great weekend!

No Horia, there isn't enough room between the pickup cab and the trailer on a standard truck.
@@SuiteTravels oh ok, i was thinking on an enduro motorcycle and with a 2 door cabin and an open frame on the back
@@horia9044 With the pin weight you have to have it over the axel with a Pickup.
With the HDT you can put the hitch all the way in the rear. Most of the HDTs have about 18inches of frame added to the rear to make room for the car.
So the other 2 manufacturers that you found complied with the 5 must have's are Majestic and Luxe? Just curious, thanks!
We looked at quite a few 5th wheels Alex, but yes, we narrowed it down to New Horizons, Luxe, and DRV.
It's an awesome rig you guys have, looking forward to your future videos.
I think I just saw you guys at a park I was at in fort Stockton a little over a week ago. Or am I wrong?
No it wasn't us Mark. There are a few red trucks out there hauling RVs, but we were in North Texas a few weeks ago.
Did you cover the bedroom?
Not in this video Cyn because we didn't modify anything in the bedroom. Pretty standard with a king bed and full front closet. If you want to see the full rig you can view our full tour video!
Good gawd how do you find anywhere to park that beast!
It's all in the planning BEAST! So far we haven't had any issues.
Way easier to park than when you were pulling doubles 👍😉
Thanks for the video
Thanks for coming along Ken! We appreciate it.
One stunning van
Thanks Richard!
Did u guys happen to roll by TN/KY yesterday?
No Albern....it wasn't us.
I was just curious, since you're not using your tractor for occupational purposes, are you bound by the DOT driving regulations? Or is it treated as you're just driving a regular vehicle?
No we're not Andy. It's considered a private truck and since we're not commercial we aren't required to comply with the DOT regs.
Would you name the other two manufacturers under consideration before choosing the DRV model?
Luxe and New Horizon. And I am not Jim! I saw earlier videos of what they were looking at.
Tony's comment is spot on Greg.
Jim, Kelly, love the coach. How ever we need the 18' garage for our business equipment. So we need the Grand Design Momentum 398MR. Safe travels and roads Brian and Cindy,"xtreambydesign with passion"
Thanks Brian. We hope you get the rig that's perfect for you. It all starts with an idea!
more about the rv please
Oh by the way... I also Subscribed, must follow your adventures :)
Thanks....we appreciate it!
What is a Hob?
Double towing was an adventure for us Sandra...we were really long and trying to stop for one night was a pain. We have been RVing for almost 40 years and we can count on one hand the number of times we've used the oven.
We had to look it up too Teresa...it's a cooktop.
What’s something like that cost
We're not sure what the prices are today S. After we moved into ours the industry went crazy with pricing due to building material and labor costs.
Okay folks when I get ready to go shopping I would love to bring you along. Great video!
Of course I will be getting something much smaller
Lol
I did not realize you could actually make those changes, I thought you pick out what's on the lot. Custom build should like the way to go if you can afford it.
Thanks Tina! We try and educate our community so they know what's available on the market. It's not the added price that a custom rig might be, but it takes some time to get the build done. It's hard to have the patience to wait. Have a great weekend!
Black color works against cooling your rig.
LOL...good thing we don't have much black paint!
I remember.
LOL....us too!
How are you for overall weight?
24,000 lbs max on that one.
We're good Roy. The GVWR of this RV is 24k.
I bought a 2021 drv LX450 I've had lots of problems with it I'll never buy another one
Sorry to hear that Ron. We're on our second DRV and found all RVs have issues, but our dealer has been great with repairs.
Hello Ron. Sorry you have had difficulties. There are a lot of things we change or fix in PDI before we turn our rigs over to our customers. I will be happy to try to help you resolve your issues, feel free to reach out to me anytime. Alicia
ST 460
We love it!
That dang 5th wheel cost more than my house will sell for, NOT for this retired old fart
You jealous?
Hmmmm....we've seen what the real estate market had been doing in the last couple of years and we are well below the average price of a home today - but we get it!
I would not want one 🤷♂️
