The technique she used is called Lava Casting, typically I’ve only seen it used in 2b2t as a form of griefing and entrapment, seeing it used for building instead of destroying is nice to see.

The main reason it's not used as much in general construction is simply that it produces cobble rather than a more attractive block like deepslate or cut stone bricks that you typically see on tower builds

That's kind of what the Bushimachi challenge is based on, not using any loan words over purely japanese vocabulary. Also I guess soul sand is a bit more descriptive in the game than something like tamashii suna would be. Something like 魂砂

New Minecraft 1.20 update. I don't know how it works or not...whether you need to start a new world to use the new version etc or whatever...maybe they just wanted it separate, dunno. Nothing's happened with the other servers, they're still connected.
