Brian, what a wonderful tutorial. I've never considered trying to play Bluegrass before but the way you teach and the way you play has made me determined to give it a go. Now all I need is a Martin D28 ! Many thanks again, you now have a new convert.

Thanks for this video. I’m a good fiddler and i play 4 string banjo in 5ths, so picking the notes isn’t a problem and although I’ve always played a bit i just have no idea how to move around on the guitar..This video has really helped me map out the bottom of the neck of the guitar and my hands are moving much more instinctively. I think this has really opened something up for me.

Nice pickin mate! Reminds me of when i first learned the bluegrass lick from Happy Traum homespun tapes... I was 13, and that lick, opened a new world to me! You are doing something way more complex, but it's clear to see the lineage! Nice work....

    Brian, I love learning this!
Lately, I've been working on "I know a little" (by Lynyrd Skynyrd), and while I've got the notes down, I still can't play it quite fast enough.
This is a great piece to help me get there, I think. Even though it's not that fast, my tendency would be (for this piece) to want to "hang out" on each chord a little longer. This piece helps me get used to playing a riff and moving on to the next chord/riff!
(I know it's not the same, but I be guess it's like that AC/SC song helping you with alternate picking, lol.)
    I live this myxilidian sound!
While learning this, I got caught up experimenting with the sound, and I made up another, different song!
I love playing it, and the way it sounds! It has inspired me to make up some lead to play along with the catchy rhythm sound.
Anyway, this one your lesson is about is an excellent practice piece, one that inspires me!
    Thanks, as usual! 👍 👌

Another great lesson. I’ve been a premium member for years and would like to see if someday you might make a video on how to best use the tab viewer and other things on the Active Melody site. There is so much wonderful information but, I don’t know really where to start. I know how to use them (sort of) but, I think it would be greatly appreciated by me and I’m sure other members too if you could explain how best to use hem. I hope that makes sense. Thanks. Jim
