My theory is that the pseudorids represent a part of their originals. Hivolt and Hurricanue represent Harpuia's arrogance and cynicism as well as lighting and wind. Lurrue and Leganchor represent Leviathans pettiness and wrathful nature alongside water and ice. Fistleo and Flammole and Fefnir;s love of battle and sheer physical might alongside fire and ground. Puprill and Protectos represent Phantom's ruthlessness and stalwart nature alongside his agility and ninja techniques. Prometheus is Weil's hate and destructiveness, Pandora is his cold calculating nature and nihilism. Serpent is Weil's ambition and delusions. The evil Megamen are dark reflections of the guardians. Master Albert represents Weil's god complex and extremism. And Thomas is Weil's manipulative nature and chessmaster tendencies.
I know many people would rather wait in anticipation for a well made video, and a well told story, than something rushed and terrible. Really, thank you for taking time to produce quality.
The thing about Inti Creates while they make good games, a lot of the important lore is locked behind audio dramas and art books. It's such a shame the ZX series would never continue on.
pokemon black/white 2 are like 500mb, while megaman zx and zxa are like 64mb, i think they had more than enough space to put the audio drama somewhere, even if is just in a extra menu made on a rush

I'm pretty sure it was the canon one along with Grey's as well, considering how much important lore were from her route and she was used the most as a representation of ZX compare to Vent.
It's weird. I like Aile more for her story in ZX and view her as the protag but in ZXA I preffer Ashe more for her character being a fresh take after all protagonists before her being serious.
Its because of how Aile got the "Background" lore while Vent got the ongoing lore, its a nice way to make the two unique but hearing about how the world became this way was much more engaging than what was added in Vent's side

I'm super happy that Vent and Aile co-exist in the same universe. I've always headcanon that because of the Mega Man ZX trailer. Also, the idea of a good or evil ending for a remake would be super cool!
Honestly, I think a remake could play more into both of these things by introducing the character you don't play as as your twin and a sort of rival (a la Pokémon ORAS or XY), who would take the opposite path to the one you go; you could also have them get the other halves of the Guardians Bio Metals, as well as Model O and a new Bio Metal based on Copy X (possibly what the C in ZXC actually stood for?) to be a reflection to ZX. And now I realize that would make the rival "Mega Man OC".
By the ZX series, the only real difference between humans and reploids is that reploids have the red triangle on their foreheads to indicate they are reploids. Humans have become more mechanical and reploids have become more organic to the point that they are practically indistinguishable without the red triangle (which some reploids don't even have, like Prairie). Vent and Aile as well as Ashe were humans, but they all had the same capabilities as Grey, a reploid.
Well I doubt the reploids were capable of sexual reproduction at that point, only simple mechanoloids like that chicken bot could reproduce, reploids still had to be created. Also ageing and growing not sure if they were capable of that, they only ever specify mortal lifespans given to reploids. Whenever the carbons of megaman legends happen, that's when you have no distinction having all functions of an organic being, hell they're superior as they can just casually swap body parts for machines and back like they're putting on shoes.
Humans get machine bodies but it’s not known how much of their organic parts are kept, reploids get a lifespan. Both of them become as close as possible, only thing that can really be missing is reproduction and maybe natural growth but that’s speculation. The amount of human parts taken out is presumably almost an entire human body considering certain scenes
@HistoryVideoGamesMiscStuff Fair 'nuff. I think the Prairie thing is detailed via official art (Prometheus kinda has the same thing going on), but that doesn't mean all old-models have the triangle.
Worse Still, they'd Started production of Legends 3, they'd actually gotten some core concepts done with a new protagonist(Redish Hair, Dressed in White) and game mechanics (Such as adding some faster Verticality to the fighting), I remember seeing some Demos of it that looked like at the very least a completed stage with functional gameplay... But then Capcom kinda went "You know what? Scrap it!". I don't even know what excuse they gave for scrapping the project... Another Franchise that Capcom seems to have just forgotten exists that ticks me off is Breath of Fire... Their last Release was a Mobile MMO that Never made it to the west, and before that was "Dragon Quarter", which was so RADICALLY Different to the rest of the franchise that it just plain didn't fit it at all (You only get 3 total party members, The core game mechanics are completely different, and you are PUNISHED for using your Dragon form by gaining permanent corruption and when it hits 100% you get a Game over and have to restart the whole, but with a higher "rank" that MIGHT unlock some doors but basically does nothing else for you. The whole "Story" is pretty much just "Escape the underground Mega-Dungeon everyone lives in", just keep walking up, nothing else of interest going on here, no world to explore, just more tunnels... It was not a fun experience, to me at least.). Worst part is, they can't even pretend that there wouldn't be an Audience for a new entry to the franchise, who wouldn't want a new RPG where you play a Freakn' Dragon along with his whole team of Characters each from a different species and with their own unique abilities?... Sorry if I went too long on something off Topic...

It always seemed like Aile & Grey where the stories that Inti Creates wanted to tell. For example, I find it hard to believe that Giro would hide being a guardian from Vent and just pretend that he casually megamerged at the same time. Seems like in that universe, Giro really was uninvolved. Aile's story feels so much more fleshed out, and she just feels like the better written character. Even in ZXA, Ashe has a better story than Vent had in ZX, but Grey's story feels more personal, with him being basically a clone and as a result, he also has a direct relation to Prometheus and Pandora. In comparison, Ashe shouldn't really feel so bad about being a descendant of Albert.
I think this game was the first time I realized that mega man was trying to be a love letter to the henshin hero genre, due to the transformations. It made everything fall into place for the older games; the themed enemies mimicking the Monster Of The Week, the evolution of themes for enemies from simple gimmicks to more complex ones as they ran out of single concepts for the robot masters to control, protoman whistling to announce his arrival and yellow scarf ala Hakaider, even the plot of Mega Man zero takes cues from the movie Mechanical violator Hakaider
Protoman also takes after Cyborg 009, one of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai's creator Shotaro Ishinomori's biggest works. the guy basically is wearing their uniform with the flowing yellow scarf and red colorscheme
Megaman might also take inspiration from Tatsunoko Casshern the robot hunter, it's very old anime(around the 1970 I think) about a normal kid modified into a robot and his robot dog sidekick who fight Braiking Boss who suspiciously look like Sigma
Amazing video as always man. So hyped for you to cap off the main series timeline by covering the Legends games down the road. Hope these videos keep gaining traction not just to educate people on how crazy this series is, but also show Capcom that people still love Mega Man. Maybe then they'll give us an X9 to properly bridge the X and Zero series, and after we get a Legends legacy collection (which we likely will at some point), eventually get a Legends 3 to give us a definitive end to the main timeline.
@@TheBlackMastadonteimagine if it turned out that after the flood that happened post-ZX Advent, a sample of the Model W Biometal was buried intact, and Legends 3 has the reploids (or whatever they're called in Legends, I forget) rediscover it, and it gets revealed that some scientist from the ZX era worked on a cure for Model W in the buried Light Labs (even though the X games don't show Cain working in Light's house/lab, I do remember the comics showing that, so it could work), so Volnutt and co have to go search for it to save the world, bringing the entire main timeline full circle.

Megaman ZX Advent was my intro to the series, so I had NO IDEA all the backdrop for it, the name Weil went so over my head I tought W was for World or something like that. THANKS for the videos man, I always loved megaman ZX and Advent as a kid, and now I'm even MORE sad that the 3rd game didn't happen.

MegaMan ZX Advent was one of my favourite DS games, I played it/replayed it so many times since I didn’t get many games outside of Birthdays and Christmas when I was kid/pre-teen back then.
I really appreciate you brought up the drama tracks for Prometheus and Pandora. Their story is already pretty sad in game but that track, plus the art of what they used to look like before being permanently merged with Model W, that came with that album, does alot to contextualise them and their story as tragic. It honestly makes them two of my favorite characters in the series.

may not be canon but someone on Pixiv made a 4 chapter fan comic about Prometheus and Pandora's backstory so if one wants some neat content (even if its only in japanese) there's a whole fan comic out there the artist goes by ひなべ, would leave a link but idk if that's allowed
One small tidbit to throw in here: due to how the destruction of either the Raider Fleet or the Research Lab is described, it's very possible that either Grey or Ashe died in the incident, thus keeping the plot focused on whoever is the protagonist. Also, the four Mega Men working for Albert are shown to have red eyes, meaning that while their own motivation plays a part, they're all brainwashed by Albert, which likely allows Thomas to get them into his own ranks in the secret ending. The same is initially shown when Grey first awakens in his story, but his eyes shift from red to green to indicate that his mental conditioning was unsuccessful, which is then confirmed by Pandora.
Thank you for the lore videos on Megaman Zero and ZX. I had fun playing these games as a kid, despite how much I sucked at them or how little I understood the story because I just loved the art style.

Happy you made it all this way chief, ZX is a special title for alot of us. It honestly was like Zero rehab since Zero had such a difficulty curve, that and alot of the characters feel like new gens for old ones. Vent/aile is the megaman for the new generation, Giro was like Zero but felt more like protoman(in a brother-like sense) and Prometheus hands down is Bass' spiritual successor. Good work as always, and r.i.p Giro and Model Z. Why does Zero always know how to hurt us😢 Edit: Interesting how those gundam eras were referenced, because Ashe has a similar personality to the Gundam X protag and Grey's incubation gives off coordinator/genetic modification vibes from Gundam Seed
Thank God you were able to talk about these 2 games in a way that still felt very enjoyable and major respect that even you like Aile. She is definitely best girl for a legitimately good reason and while the first ZX is simple I do enjoy it as a whole and advent there are things I don't like about it but I can at least say that it didn't improve on the exploration parts and it did give us Aile's magical girl transformation sequence. Though the main problem I have with the zx series as a whole is just that secret ending doesn't lead to anything except for a vague hint that it's supposed to lead into legends but that raises even more questions. these 2 games are what made the DS lite AMAZING, and many games like this. I cannot count the amount of times i beat these games and tried to on hard mode as well. When i think on my fav megaman games, its the ZX and Zero titles, they influence my writing and a lot of the music i'm still into. Another great vid man keep it up. XD

@@TheBlackMastadonte this and the zero series made me try to own ALL of the battle network titles, both versions of 3 onwards. 5 team colonal was the last i bought though and i always got to the end of a battlenetwork title but never beat any of them, always got stuck on the final boss. Most likely cause i grew up more on games like spyro than ANY RPG save pokemon. I still remember most the GBA and DS games i own fondly,thank God most are on steam now as remasters and such.
Here’s my head canon about Vent and Aile. They’re twins. ZXA proved they exist at the same time but also the Japanese Anime Promo of ZX showed them use Model X to transform. The main reason why everyone is confused about who’s actually the protagonist is because of how the dev team structured their story. Vent was used to explain the events after Zero 4 while Aile was used to give more context of what’s happening in the current situation we’re in and tease the next game. Another reason why it’s the general consensus that Aile is canon is due to Grey being built by Albert. It’s more believable than someone being a descendant of Albert.
Questions... Vent and Aile can transform in model x at the same time by beings twins?? What about Grey and Ashe? Both can transform in model A at the same time?
@ Yes. In the Anime Promo video (I fixed it on my original comment) they showed Vent and Aile standing side by side, have their hands on Model X to transform. I couldn’t find any trailers of ZX Advent that Ashe and Grey doing the same thing but again this my head canon. Both stories are happening at the same time. Ashe and Grey met at the hunter’s base, Prometheus and Pandora ambushed them, Model A told both Ashe and Grey to yell Megamerge and both transformed simultaneously. My theory Albert was waiting for a blood descendent for Model A but since it was taking too long, he built Grey in his image. One disadvantage you can say is that the pair needs to be together in order for both to transform but that’s not entirely the case. In ZX1, the bosses used half of the other Biometals (I don’t know how can you split them up to begin with but okay) to power them up. Who’s to say the same can’t be apply to Model X, Z, and A, only downside is that they’re only half power. In the Anime Promo, Vent ZX only uses the Saber while Aile ZX uses the Buster. Same applies in game where if you beat one boss to get the other Biometals, they can only perform a Level 1 charge attack and in order to use a level 2 charge attack they need the other half for full power. And I’m going to apply that same logic for Ashe and Grey to explain why they have different move sets in game. Again, that’s my head canon of what I gathered from trailers and in game info.

I've always loved your honest gaming history vids, as they always hit that perfect sweetspot between a legitimately good summarization of a certain character, or franchises history, some awesome jokes, and neat trivia behind the creation process and the lore, to create a truly unique and unforgettable experience for videos going over these characters that we all love so much. I understand that videos of this length are pretty daunting to make, so I understand why you wanna put off making one like this for a while, but for certain series like Guilty Gear and Blazblue, I don't think they can be given justice if not covered this way. Excellent video. I know bits and pieces of ZX lore, but never the whole thing. This helped a ton. Admittedly, I haven't played the ZX series yet, but a friend of mine did gift me the Zero/ZX Collection for my birthday, so I'll give it a go after finishing the X Collection. I could be wrong, but I did hear that while the games are good, they unfortunately didn't sell good. At least from what I've read, it seems like Mega Man games around this time were struggling to make money, which might a reason we never got ZXC unfortunately (and potentially other games like Star Force 4). Good news though is that apparently an art book is in the works currently titled Mega Man Legacies, and it'll contain stuff form ZX, Legends, 11, and potentially other Mega Man related stuff. I will say, while I do like Model ZX's design, I kind of wish there was more X incorporated into the design somehow. It just looks like an updated MMZ design.
I'm playing ZX for the first time right now and I DEFINITELY recommend looking up a walkthrough when you play ZX. There are SO many different ways areas are connected, with different doors that are only unlocked after beating certain bosses that you will need to come back to that can be easy to forget. It will save you a lot of frustration and streamline the pacing so you aren't wandering for 10 min - an hour depending how stubborn you are
From what I could gather, the main reason for the games not selling well was due to there being an overabundance of titles coming out all at once, which unintentionally divided fans of the series that were already following a specific line of games. Like for example if you were following the Starforce series of games you would probably not want to check out the ZX series for being so radically different.
@@kdr_roxas Yeah, that's pretty much what I think happened. Even if it's a similar series, it doesn't guarantee a lot will play it for various reasons. Someone who loves Battle Network might not touch Star Force, or even a Classic fan might not play X or Zero.
@@JTRyuujin Sadly that also means that Capcom unintentionally shot themselves in the foot and the low sales probably made them think the Mega Man ip wasn't worth the effort despite fans to this day asking for a new entry, we got close with Mega Man 11 and we also got a slight tease in the X Legacy Collections but aside from that it's been radio silence from them and that bums me out :/
It will forever break my heart that this series didn't get to see the ending it truly deserved. I've been an Inti Creates fan since MMZ1 and have all the titles on their original platforms and the Legacy ZX collection. Easily one of my favorite installments in the verse. Hearing your idea of a morality system in the ZX games reminded me of an idea that I had for a third entry where the main character found the lost Model O and was forced to use it. At its base form, he or she could use it just fine, but if they used the OIS function, they would run the risk of going berserk. But incorporating a morality system gave me an idea of how that story could unfold. If you abused the OIS function, you would gain the full power of Model O, but your character would turn evil and destructive. If you used it as little as possible, you would be handicapped later on, but would get the chance to perform a double mega-merge with Model Z and access both biometal's true powers as Model ZO.

I love both Megaman ZX and ZX Advent wayy more than I probably should, ZXA in particular was the first MM game that I beat, so I have a big soft spot for that game in my heart. I always found weird the way people treated these games, even if it's a huge departure from the other games and just sometimes feels way too cluttered, but the ideas it implemented are so awesome! I am especially fond of the X model fusions, it's such a dope concept :) I'm way beyond glad the way you talked about these games! It's really refreshing instead of just blatantly bashing everything saying "game bad" (idk if this makes sense but you get the idea)

After this we then have Mega Man Legends, but Legends 2 ended on a cliffhanger Dr Light’s Dream of Humans & Robots living in peace never became true. But hey his dream did not become true in the Legends timeline. But his Dream did become true in 2 different timelines those being the Mega Battle Network Series & the Mega Man Star Force Series.
His dream literally came true in the ZX series (at least until the game of Destiny started). ZX is showing that everything we’ve been fighting for from MM1 to Zero 4 finally paid off. Outside of Master Albert and Model W, there is finally true peace between humans and reploids.
Arguable the Carbons is another form of his dream, humans and machines combined as essentially one species. Sure it came about by a radical figure named after him (who also likely lost) but it happened
Nah, Legends is its own thing. Even though it belongs to the end of the timeline, Legends feels like a reset for both reploids/robots and humans. Some unknown event must have happened after ZX that brought the world to a state where top tier techgnology no longer exist and people just live peacefully with the few new gen robots (not reploids) that exist. This is why the Legends world has so many ruins from past times. People assume because legend is at the end of the timeline it means they are super advanced as they were in ZX, they are not. Just look how megaman looks.

I love Rockman ZX. This game kinda changed my life and I love it's message: make your own future, choose your own path. The visuals, art style, music, story - ZX series does all of that so perfectly. Rockman ZX is basically a new take on the first X game (Serpent is literally this game's Sigma). The ending makes me very emotional because it's so similar to Rockman X. Man, we need a third game... (I can rant about these two games all day)

Billy is the sole reason Grey decided to be heroic. The influence was that strong on him. "I shouldn't need a reason to save lives" was the lesson he learned when Billy was humble about saving Grey's life. One tiny gesture of kindness lead to saving the world. Also it's implied that if you pick one character, the other character dies in their intro stage. As for the fight against the model ZX megamen, that's framed to be a draw, not a victory. My name's just a coincidence btw. But I am a diehard fan of that game in particular. I've played through it atleast 20 times.

My theory is that the pseudorids represent a part of their originals. Hivolt and Hurricanue represent Harpuia's arrogance and cynicism as well as lighting and wind. Lurrue and Leganchor represent Leviathans pettiness and wrathful nature alongside water and ice. Fistleo and Flammole and Fefnir;s love of battle and sheer physical might alongside fire and ground. Puprill and Protectos represent Phantom's ruthlessness and stalwart nature alongside his agility and ninja techniques. Prometheus is Weil's hate and destructiveness, Pandora is his cold calculating nature and nihilism. Serpent is Weil's ambition and delusions. The evil Megamen are dark reflections of the guardians. Master Albert represents Weil's god complex and extremism. And Thomas is Weil's manipulative nature and chessmaster tendencies.

It's weird. I like Aile more for her story in ZX and view her as the protag but in ZXA I preffer Ashe more for her character being a fresh take after all protagonists before her being serious.
Its because of how Aile got the "Background" lore while Vent got the ongoing lore, its a nice way to make the two unique but hearing about how the world became this way was much more engaging than what was added in Vent's side

I'm super happy that Vent and Aile co-exist in the same universe. I've always headcanon that because of the Mega Man ZX trailer.
Also, the idea of a good or evil ending for a remake would be super cool!
Honestly, I think a remake could play more into both of these things by introducing the character you don't play as as your twin and a sort of rival (a la Pokémon ORAS or XY), who would take the opposite path to the one you go; you could also have them get the other halves of the Guardians Bio Metals, as well as Model O and a new Bio Metal based on Copy X (possibly what the C in ZXC actually stood for?) to be a reflection to ZX.
And now I realize that would make the rival "Mega Man OC".
By the ZX series, the only real difference between humans and reploids is that reploids have the red triangle on their foreheads to indicate they are reploids. Humans have become more mechanical and reploids have become more organic to the point that they are practically indistinguishable without the red triangle (which some reploids don't even have, like Prairie). Vent and Aile as well as Ashe were humans, but they all had the same capabilities as Grey, a reploid.
Prairie does have the forehead triangle, it's just concealed by her hat. (So it effectively doesn't exist. Details.)
Well I doubt the reploids were capable of sexual reproduction at that point, only simple mechanoloids like that chicken bot could reproduce, reploids still had to be created. Also ageing and growing not sure if they were capable of that, they only ever specify mortal lifespans given to reploids. Whenever the carbons of megaman legends happen, that's when you have no distinction having all functions of an organic being, hell they're superior as they can just casually swap body parts for machines and back like they're putting on shoes.
Humans get machine bodies but it’s not known how much of their organic parts are kept, reploids get a lifespan. Both of them become as close as possible, only thing that can really be missing is reproduction and maybe natural growth but that’s speculation.
The amount of human parts taken out is presumably almost an entire human body considering certain scenes

Worse Still, they'd Started production of Legends 3, they'd actually gotten some core concepts done with a new protagonist(Redish Hair, Dressed in White) and game mechanics (Such as adding some faster Verticality to the fighting), I remember seeing some Demos of it that looked like at the very least a completed stage with functional gameplay... But then Capcom kinda went "You know what? Scrap it!". I don't even know what excuse they gave for scrapping the project...
Another Franchise that Capcom seems to have just forgotten exists that ticks me off is Breath of Fire... Their last Release was a Mobile MMO that Never made it to the west, and before that was "Dragon Quarter", which was so RADICALLY Different to the rest of the franchise that it just plain didn't fit it at all (You only get 3 total party members, The core game mechanics are completely different, and you are PUNISHED for using your Dragon form by gaining permanent corruption and when it hits 100% you get a Game over and have to restart the whole, but with a higher "rank" that MIGHT unlock some doors but basically does nothing else for you. The whole "Story" is pretty much just "Escape the underground Mega-Dungeon everyone lives in", just keep walking up, nothing else of interest going on here, no world to explore, just more tunnels... It was not a fun experience, to me at least.). Worst part is, they can't even pretend that there wouldn't be an Audience for a new entry to the franchise, who wouldn't want a new RPG where you play a Freakn' Dragon along with his whole team of Characters each from a different species and with their own unique abilities?... Sorry if I went too long on something off Topic...

It always seemed like Aile & Grey where the stories that Inti Creates wanted to tell. For example, I find it hard to believe that Giro would hide being a guardian from Vent and just pretend that he casually megamerged at the same time. Seems like in that universe, Giro really was uninvolved. Aile's story feels so much more fleshed out, and she just feels like the better written character. Even in ZXA, Ashe has a better story than Vent had in ZX, but Grey's story feels more personal, with him being basically a clone and as a result, he also has a direct relation to Prometheus and Pandora. In comparison, Ashe shouldn't really feel so bad about being a descendant of Albert.
I think this game was the first time I realized that mega man was trying to be a love letter to the henshin hero genre, due to the transformations.
It made everything fall into place for the older games; the themed enemies mimicking the Monster Of The Week, the evolution of themes for enemies from simple gimmicks to more complex ones as they ran out of single concepts for the robot masters to control, protoman whistling to announce his arrival and yellow scarf ala Hakaider, even the plot of Mega Man zero takes cues from the movie Mechanical violator Hakaider
That would make sense especially cause the creator of Mega Man, Akira Kitamura, was a huge tokusatsu fan
Protoman also takes after Cyborg 009, one of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai's creator Shotaro Ishinomori's biggest works. the guy basically is wearing their uniform with the flowing yellow scarf and red colorscheme
Megaman might also take inspiration from Tatsunoko Casshern the robot hunter, it's very old anime(around the 1970 I think) about a normal kid modified into a robot and his robot dog sidekick who fight Braiking Boss who suspiciously look like Sigma
Worth the wait. As someone who only played Advent, it was nice to get a firmer grasp on what happened before and during.

Amazing video as always man. So hyped for you to cap off the main series timeline by covering the Legends games down the road. Hope these videos keep gaining traction not just to educate people on how crazy this series is, but also show Capcom that people still love Mega Man. Maybe then they'll give us an X9 to properly bridge the X and Zero series, and after we get a Legends legacy collection (which we likely will at some point), eventually get a Legends 3 to give us a definitive end to the main timeline.

@@TheBlackMastadonteimagine if it turned out that after the flood that happened post-ZX Advent, a sample of the Model W Biometal was buried intact, and Legends 3 has the reploids (or whatever they're called in Legends, I forget) rediscover it, and it gets revealed that some scientist from the ZX era worked on a cure for Model W in the buried Light Labs (even though the X games don't show Cain working in Light's house/lab, I do remember the comics showing that, so it could work), so Volnutt and co have to go search for it to save the world, bringing the entire main timeline full circle.

Megaman ZX Advent was my intro to the series, so I had NO IDEA all the backdrop for it, the name Weil went so over my head I tought W was for World or something like that.

MegaMan ZX Advent was one of my favourite DS games, I played it/replayed it so many times since I didn’t get many games outside of Birthdays and Christmas when I was kid/pre-teen back then.

I really appreciate you brought up the drama tracks for Prometheus and Pandora. Their story is already pretty sad in game but that track, plus the art of what they used to look like before being permanently merged with Model W, that came with that album, does alot to contextualise them and their story as tragic. It honestly makes them two of my favorite characters in the series.

may not be canon but someone on Pixiv made a 4 chapter fan comic about Prometheus and Pandora's backstory so if one wants some neat content (even if its only in japanese) there's a whole fan comic out there

One small tidbit to throw in here: due to how the destruction of either the Raider Fleet or the Research Lab is described, it's very possible that either Grey or Ashe died in the incident, thus keeping the plot focused on whoever is the protagonist.
Also, the four Mega Men working for Albert are shown to have red eyes, meaning that while their own motivation plays a part, they're all brainwashed by Albert, which likely allows Thomas to get them into his own ranks in the secret ending. The same is initially shown when Grey first awakens in his story, but his eyes shift from red to green to indicate that his mental conditioning was unsuccessful, which is then confirmed by Pandora.

Happy you made it all this way chief, ZX is a special title for alot of us. It honestly was like Zero rehab since Zero had such a difficulty curve, that and alot of the characters feel like new gens for old ones. Vent/aile is the megaman for the new generation, Giro was like Zero but felt more like protoman(in a brother-like sense) and Prometheus hands down is Bass' spiritual successor. Good work as always, and r.i.p Giro and Model Z. Why does Zero always know how to hurt us😢

Thank God you were able to talk about these 2 games in a way that still felt very enjoyable and major respect that even you like Aile. She is definitely best girl for a legitimately good reason and while the first ZX is simple I do enjoy it as a whole and advent there are things I don't like about it but I can at least say that it didn't improve on the exploration parts and it did give us Aile's magical girl transformation sequence. Though the main problem I have with the zx series as a whole is just that secret ending doesn't lead to anything except for a vague hint that it's supposed to lead into legends but that raises even more questions. Regardless great job with this lore video, hope you had a Merry Christmas and finally Happy Birthday Donte🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉!

these 2 games are what made the DS lite AMAZING, and many games like this. I cannot count the amount of times i beat these games and tried to on hard mode as well. When i think on my fav megaman games, its the ZX and Zero titles, they influence my writing and a lot of the music i'm still into. Another great vid man keep it up. XD

@@TheBlackMastadonte this and the zero series made me try to own ALL of the battle network titles, both versions of 3 onwards. 5 team colonal was the last i bought though and i always got to the end of a battlenetwork title but never beat any of them, always got stuck on the final boss. Most likely cause i grew up more on games like spyro than ANY RPG save pokemon. I still remember most the GBA and DS games i own fondly,thank God most are on steam now as remasters and such.

Here’s my head canon about Vent and Aile. They’re twins. ZXA proved they exist at the same time but also the Japanese Anime Promo of ZX showed them use Model X to transform. The main reason why everyone is confused about who’s actually the protagonist is because of how the dev team structured their story.
Vent was used to explain the events after Zero 4 while Aile was used to give more context of what’s happening in the current situation we’re in and tease the next game. Another reason why it’s the general consensus that Aile is canon is due to Grey being built by Albert. It’s more believable than someone being a descendant of Albert.
Questions... Vent and Aile can transform in model x at the same time by beings twins??
What about Grey and Ashe? Both can transform in model A at the same time?
@ Yes. In the Anime Promo video (I fixed it on my original comment) they showed Vent and Aile standing side by side, have their hands on Model X to transform. I couldn’t find any trailers of ZX Advent that Ashe and Grey doing the same thing but again this my head canon. Both stories are happening at the same time. Ashe and Grey met at the hunter’s base, Prometheus and Pandora ambushed them, Model A told both Ashe and Grey to yell Megamerge and both transformed simultaneously. My theory Albert was waiting for a blood descendent for Model A but since it was taking too long, he built Grey in his image.
One disadvantage you can say is that the pair needs to be together in order for both to transform but that’s not entirely the case. In ZX1, the bosses used half of the other Biometals (I don’t know how can you split them up to begin with but okay) to power them up. Who’s to say the same can’t be apply to Model X, Z, and A, only downside is that they’re only half power. In the Anime Promo, Vent ZX only uses the Saber while Aile ZX uses the Buster. Same applies in game where if you beat one boss to get the other Biometals, they can only perform a Level 1 charge attack and in order to use a level 2 charge attack they need the other half for full power. And I’m going to apply that same logic for Ashe and Grey to explain why they have different move sets in game.
Again, that’s my head canon of what I gathered from trailers and in game info.

Excellent video. I know bits and pieces of ZX lore, but never the whole thing. This helped a ton. Admittedly, I haven't played the ZX series yet, but a friend of mine did gift me the Zero/ZX Collection for my birthday, so I'll give it a go after finishing the X Collection. I could be wrong, but I did hear that while the games are good, they unfortunately didn't sell good. At least from what I've read, it seems like Mega Man games around this time were struggling to make money, which might a reason we never got ZXC unfortunately (and potentially other games like Star Force 4).
Good news though is that apparently an art book is in the works currently titled Mega Man Legacies, and it'll contain stuff form ZX, Legends, 11, and potentially other Mega Man related stuff.
I will say, while I do like Model ZX's design, I kind of wish there was more X incorporated into the design somehow. It just looks like an updated MMZ design.
I'm playing ZX for the first time right now and I DEFINITELY recommend looking up a walkthrough when you play ZX. There are SO many different ways areas are connected, with different doors that are only unlocked after beating certain bosses that you will need to come back to that can be easy to forget. It will save you a lot of frustration and streamline the pacing so you aren't wandering for 10 min - an hour depending how stubborn you are
From what I could gather, the main reason for the games not selling well was due to there being an overabundance of titles coming out all at once, which unintentionally divided fans of the series that were already following a specific line of games. Like for example if you were following the Starforce series of games you would probably not want to check out the ZX series for being so radically different.

@@kdr_roxas Yeah, that's pretty much what I think happened. Even if it's a similar series, it doesn't guarantee a lot will play it for various reasons. Someone who loves Battle Network might not touch Star Force, or even a Classic fan might not play X or Zero.
@@JTRyuujin Sadly that also means that Capcom unintentionally shot themselves in the foot and the low sales probably made them think the Mega Man ip wasn't worth the effort despite fans to this day asking for a new entry, we got close with Mega Man 11 and we also got a slight tease in the X Legacy Collections but aside from that it's been radio silence from them and that bums me out :/
It will forever break my heart that this series didn't get to see the ending it truly deserved. I've been an Inti Creates fan since MMZ1 and have all the titles on their original platforms and the Legacy ZX collection. Easily one of my favorite installments in the verse. Hearing your idea of a morality system in the ZX games reminded me of an idea that I had for a third entry where the main character found the lost Model O and was forced to use it. At its base form, he or she could use it just fine, but if they used the OIS function, they would run the risk of going berserk. But incorporating a morality system gave me an idea of how that story could unfold. If you abused the OIS function, you would gain the full power of Model O, but your character would turn evil and destructive. If you used it as little as possible, you would be handicapped later on, but would get the chance to perform a double mega-merge with Model Z and access both biometal's true powers as Model ZO.
Bought the MegamanZero and ZX collection on sale for Christmas and loving it.

I love both Megaman ZX and ZX Advent wayy more than I probably should, ZXA in particular was the first MM game that I beat, so I have a big soft spot for that game in my heart.
I always found weird the way people treated these games, even if it's a huge departure from the other games and just sometimes feels way too cluttered, but the ideas it implemented are so awesome! I am especially fond of the X model fusions, it's such a dope concept :)
I'm way beyond glad the way you talked about these games! It's really refreshing instead of just blatantly bashing everything saying "game bad" (idk if this makes sense but you get the idea)

After this we then have Mega Man Legends, but Legends 2 ended on a cliffhanger Dr Light’s Dream of Humans & Robots living in peace never became true.
But hey his dream did not become true in the Legends timeline. But his Dream did become true in 2 different timelines those being the Mega Battle Network Series & the Mega Man Star Force Series.
Bn and sf are the same timeline
His dream literally came true in the ZX series (at least until the game of Destiny started). ZX is showing that everything we’ve been fighting for from MM1 to Zero 4 finally paid off. Outside of Master Albert and Model W, there is finally true peace between humans and reploids.
Arguable the Carbons is another form of his dream, humans and machines combined as essentially one species. Sure it came about by a radical figure named after him (who also likely lost) but it happened
Nah, Legends is its own thing. Even though it belongs to the end of the timeline, Legends feels like a reset for both reploids/robots and humans. Some unknown event must have happened after ZX that brought the world to a state where top tier techgnology no longer exist and people just live peacefully with the few new gen robots (not reploids) that exist. This is why the Legends world has so many ruins from past times.
People assume because legend is at the end of the timeline it means they are super advanced as they were in ZX, they are not. Just look how megaman looks.

I love Rockman ZX. This game kinda changed my life and I love it's message: make your own future, choose your own path.
The visuals, art style, music, story - ZX series does all of that so perfectly.
Rockman ZX is basically a new take on the first X game (Serpent is literally this game's Sigma). The ending makes me very emotional because it's so similar to Rockman X.
Man, we need a third game...

My first intro to the world of Megaman, started ZX with the second game, which is probably my favorite out of the two.

Billy is the sole reason Grey decided to be heroic. The influence was that strong on him. "I shouldn't need a reason to save lives" was the lesson he learned when Billy was humble about saving Grey's life. One tiny gesture of kindness lead to saving the world.
Also it's implied that if you pick one character, the other character dies in their intro stage.
As for the fight against the model ZX megamen, that's framed to be a draw, not a victory.

That's because we wouldn't have any canonical images of it UNTIL Megaman ZX.
