@@dennissems I buy them off Amazon. The pumpkin seeds work the best they block the hormones that cause hair loss. If I miss one day I get shedding, but if I eat them every day no shedding.
@@dw7939 thanks soooo much for this information. I’ve lost so much hair due to hormones and Covid. It’s growing back but anything I can do to help would be fantastic.
Thank you for making this video. I thought I was the only one going through this. I lost a lot of my hair after my hair was damaged by bleach. My hair is all different lengths so it’s frizzy. Before the over bleaching I went through a lot of stress. So my hair was falling out. I am starting to get new hair growth. I asked my hair stylist to just cut off 3 inches from the ends. This has really helped.
I have beengoing through menopause and have lost quite a bit of density 😢. I will definitely try growing out my layers so the ends don't look stringy. Thanks for the tips!❤
Hello Gena, always lovely to see you. Congratulations on 200k subscribers! 🎉🎊 You have been very diligent and putting out great content. Warmest wishes for you and your loved ones 🌻
i have fine hair and in the past regulary dyed it. i still use heat on my hair because of how much harder i find to manage my curls or lack there of since they vary between being wavy, curly, and stringy straight pieces. but even more so a few months ago i got a layered cut and you can really tell at the ends how thin it is. so all around not the best hair choices. what sucks though is wanting to give my hair breaks sometimes from the heat but hating how the "curls" look
Your tutorial came just in time. I've been experiencing uneven curl. But now I understand since I am using CS serum and Vitamins I have lots of growth. 8 month ago I did a blunt haircut and it looks healthier, now is for another haircut. I received lots of compliments of my silvers and curls. Thanks for all the hard work ❤
Thank you for this video, Gena! Boy, do I understand excessive hair loss and regrowth. It's how I got my curly hair! 🌟 Before I was able to get all the scraggly ends cut, I struggled with thin ends. I had not realized my hair was growing in curly, so I just tried to keep it pulled back in a small bun to avoid showing how thin my longer ends were. Talk about see through! My hair was awful! But I love it now that it's all grown back in AND curly. I went from less than a 2A to a 3A, with ringlets and spirals. I do still have some straight hair, but it doesn't cause a problem, since I finally got the thin ends cut out. Like you, it took a few cuts so I wouldn't have super short hair. My hair is layered, but it grew back in just as thick as it was before, so I no longer struggle with see-through hair. It did take time, though. For me, the whole process took over 14 months. That was from the start of my hair loss, to finally getting the last of the thin, longer hair cut off. My hair, before, was nearly to my waist. Today, it is just passed my shoulders, if I stretch the curl out. I believe your hair will grow back as it was before. It will just take time and patience.
if I comb through my clumps, they turn wonky, my ends are so thin from a bad cut. PSA: (please correct if you disagree) 🌷 I got overmoisturized by freaking out that i would damage my hair & also trying to do what 'everyone' said (curls love moisture, too much protein can break your hair). It is easy to get 'caught up' in one's hair journey & go overboard/be worried & mess things up😢😊 Curlsmith confirmed that the Bond repair doesn't Need a moisturizing conditioner after it, and it doesn't have 'protein mask' levels of protein, so only use whatever mask your hair needs, if it needs anything after. Protein masks and protein Treatments are very different. I did a lot of talking with stylists and a few trichologists, and they said that most protein masks (like Briogio, curl junky, you name it) have deep conditioners in them to balance the protein...look for both in the first 7 ingredients. If you do a moisturizing on top, just because, then you swing to getting overmoisturized. I've been told that as long as my hair is stretching right, to just use a combo mask. I use eVOLVH UltraRepair that is just oils and silk aminos for my easily weighed down fine hair. Hairfinity Amino mask is good too. Aminos moisturize and provide internal 'spring'...Proteins can patch hair or provide a smooth coat. They are especially useful in stylers. They can also spring up your curls in stylers. If you have too much protein in a styler (or one that is wrong for your hair) & not enough moisture in your others, it may look and feel like straw. Next time you may need more hydration under, or it could be a wrong product. If it doesn't wash out back where you were, the a protein free deep conditioner may be warranted. There aren't any good drugstore protein/or peptide masks. Shea Manuka has aminos from the hydrogenated castor oil, but not a ton. Using Collagen Peptides drink supplement as a mask would be better. People can get a sample size for a few bucks, but it is flavorless and drinking it help hair, nails, and skin grow better... so two birds.. 😊 But Aphogee 2 step is an example of s protein Treatment that MUST be followed by a deep conditioner. Gelatin, only if your hair feels stiff after using and you need to balance it.
I love the EvolvH brand, almost everything I’ve tried from them works amazing. I, like you, try everything, and while I love these videos, Gena’s hair is very different from mine, so most of what she uses, I cannot. I find clumps cause breakage too, so I opt for wavy instead, so I can get a comb through it. Watch out for that with fine hair, meaning, individual hair density. Even though I blew it dry 2x a week and used a curling wand for decades, I never had the breakage and thinness toward the ends of my hair like I have using gels and having clumps.
Oh girl....I had my curls absolutely destroyed by thinning shears....been in the process of recovering my already thinning curls for the past year.....
Looking at myself in the mirror and realising my hair is so similar to yours! Length, shade, curl pattern. It’s great cause I can just listen to everything you say 😂
thank you so much, i have kind of spiral curls and my hair is long but turns to straight at the ends. i think i may be detangling my hair too roughly. and maybe i could try a serum too!
I used a leave in from shea moisture with protein & it made all my hair fall out & break off, it’s been a long time since then but I haven’t recovered & I’m too scared to use protein again, I wonder if I can as a treatment, if my hair needs it but I am worried if my hair will fall out if I do as I’m already losing hair at the moment
Congratulations on 200 Thousand 🎉. I have healthy hair, no color, low heat, is it ok to still use the bond treatments I use it about once every 1-2 months. Thank you for being my hair guru ❤
wow this is so helpful thank you!! I will try a protein mask and definitely get cuts more often. and combing through a clump makes sense. and I need to use a heat protectant. I did get vitamins from my dermatologist to help with hair loss, I wish growth oils and stuff could work for me.
My hair when it's wavy looks super healthy and full but when I straighten it I can the line where my ends start to frizz out and need a cut. More of a reason to wear my hair natural lol. I did notice after incorporating a prepoo scalp treatment and bond builders by hair is retaining length so much more. My hair is also low porosity and coarse so I can't include too many protein products. My hair hates the briogeo don't despair repair mask but loves the superfoods deep conditioner. K18 definitely the best bond builder I've tried
The 'slicing' technique contributing to frizz makes complete sense, and I never thought about this when my hairdresser cuts my. hair. I'll mention that to her next time I go! Question for you - I'm heading to the Mediterranean for two weeks and need to find a product to help protect my coarse (somewhat protein-sensitive) curls from the sun and salt water. I am yet to find a leave-in conditioner that I can use daily on dry hair, that doesn't make my hair feel really nasty - any suggestions? How about a video for taking care of curls on a summer holiday when you're in the sun/sea every day?!
I asked for curtain bangs and my hairdresser used the slicing technique 😰 My hair is currently straight from the blowout. I am very anxious as to how it will look like after I wash it.
Loved this video! With my hair getting longer it has been more tangled. Going to get the shine oil from curlsmith and try it out for dry detangling! Do you have a preference between their bond oil and shine oil? Thanks!
I had classic length hair (over the bum) and did a bun say 24/7 (except wash day) and after more than 5 years my hair was so thin. I had 2 ponytails the size of my wrist. Now they were sharpie-thin. I cut it off (see picture) to about bra strap. I happen to like it right now, but can't wait for it to grow back (and that takes patience and some TLC). No more bun for me.
Gena, I need your advice! So, I tried the olaplex no 3 and 0 for the first time today and I made sure not to apply stylers or oil the previous washday so my hair could absorb olaplex better. BUT goodness me, my hair was drier than the Sahara desert and SO tangled when I wet my hair today to use the olaplex. What is the best way to use olaplex for curly hair like mine?
Did you shampoo and use a deep conditioner after? Is your hair damaged? Olaplex is not going to provide a soft feeling because its a treatment for strengthening the hair. That is where using a deep conditioner after comes in.
@@GenaMarie My hair after the olaplex was good. I'm taking about the situation of my hair before applying it. Olaplex says to use no. 3 on build-up free hair, that is hair free of oils/stylers. My hair without styling products gets very, very dry. So when I go to apply no 0 and 3 on styler-free hair, it becomes very difficult to apply them because of how dry and tangled it is. How do you suggest I use olaplex if my hair gets this way?
I don't have as much tangling, but if I use the 0 (since it goes on dry hair), I use a Perfect Hair towel that sucks up 50% of the water and then I just blow dry my hair on high pointing straight down and running my fingers through it. Then I praying hands the olaplex & start raking it from bottom up & then brush through. I was reading some more, and unless you have high porosity damaged hair, you definitely don't need the 0. I find that Olaplex 3 & Curlsmith Bond Serum have lots of slip. K18 is supposed to be amazing too. Just a PSA: Olaplex does not condition or have protein. Bond repair has protein, but you don't need to do a protein free deep conditioner after. In fact, pretty much every mask with protein is balanced with conditioners and don't need a protein free deep conditioner after. You may be unbalancing your hair. There aren't Any drugstore protein based conditioners. Shea yogurt has no proteins. It does have amino acids from the hydrogenated castor oil, so it is repairing, but those are far down the list. Curl Junky had them. So do some other. Look for conditioning alcohols and aminos, hydrolyzed x protein in the first 7 ingredients. Hairfinity Amino mask & eVOLVH UltraRepair are both great (eVOLVH if you get weighed down). You can do a DIY with your regular conditioner and collagen peptides for cheaper. I have read of ones with Braggs Liquid Aminos (like a soy sauce, but not). Things like Gelatin treatments & Aphogee 2 step are protein Treatments. Aphogee Definitely needs a deep conditioner after, but Gelatin only if your hair is stiff, otherwise you undid the protein treatment.
@@imajenn3006 thanks so much for your comment! So I just came across another video and she suggested cowashing before olaplex 3 and getting tangles out that way. That makes for such a long washday lol. Cowash>olaplex 3> shampoo> deep conditioner > styling 😭. I'm not too much into the protein-moisture balance tbh, I just choose products based on what works for me/how moisturizing it is. I usually go for balanced deep conditioners mostly and tend to avoid just protein or just moisturizing (protein free) deep conditioners/masques.
I love Olaplex 0 and 3. Once I’m done I go with a deep conditioner after I rinse/wash off the Olaplex. I love to use Boucleme deep conditioner and I add six drops of their protein booster if I feel my hair needs protein.
i have type 4a/b hair, but you're answering all my questions! so grateful for this channel
