Thank you Rachel for sharing an inspiring garden and some of the plant names. It gave me a few extra names to add to my wish list! Have a quick question, maybe you can help. To the right handside of that purple Clematis your son likes there's a few pink flower spikes. Do you know what that is? A similar one appears on the video on 1:20 minutes. There's a pink one at the front and slightly dark pink or red one behind it, quite tall flower spikes actually. I'm in love with these two plants, don't know their names... 🤤🥰
Thank you for watching and commenting. Unfortunately I can't help you with the name of that pink plant. When you described it I thought, surely a salvia! But now looking at it again, it says more veronica to me. Sorry, I really don't know.
Wow, Helen has definitely achieved a beautiful display of lush plants and flowers in 4 short years! Thank you 🙏 for guiding us through her garden! 🌺💕😍🇨🇦
There is no doubt of Helens capabilities right from the first sight of her garden. I so enjoyed the layout, the selection of plants, some I had never seen before, and... the colour. I have no doubt I will be returning in winter months to watch this video again. Rachel you certainly knew this would be the eye candy we were looking for. Thank you Helen and Rachel.
Love your garden Rachael! Your stands of alstroemeria is stunning! I've always loved this plant so I'm trying this year to overwinter it in eastern Canada. We'll see if with global warming we can do it. We visited Ireland I believe in 2012 with my father (my mom wanted so much to go to Ireland as on her mother's paternal side they were from the Kildare region) but with health issues, she passed before she was able to do it. My husband & I both loved Ireland so much, we hope to travel there again, as we did a bus tour for about 12 days and didn't get to see the interior of the island. We did get an overnight stay at Wexford but of course had no chance to visit your lovely garden. It is absolutely gorgeous. If we get back there, pandemic allowing, I would love to see it in person. It was only after seeing UK and watching BBC shows on UK gardening that I saw so many plants. And then realized that many of the nurseries here offer them. p.s. love that crazy John Lord. And of course the other notable, Brendan O'Carroll as Mrs. Brown. The only thing better than Irish comedy is Newfoundland, where so many Irish settled. I dare say Newfoundland in some parts is more Irish than Ireland. So you must visit this side of the Atlantic Ocean some time. You'd be amazed how welcoming the Atlantic Provinces of Canada are, very similar to Ireland in warmth & welcoming.
Good morning and thank you for such a lovely chatty message, all the way from Canada. I hope that you will travel back to Ireland again soon and that it will coincide with one of my 'open garden' days. Wishing you a great rest to your weekend and thank you again for your wonderful support.
This garden is very nice, but I absolutely LOVE your garden. I remember the first video I saw of your garden - a tour in July. Absolutely stunning. Thank you for your channel. I really enjoy your content and your gardens. One day when we can travel again, I would love to come to Ireland and visit your gardens.
Thank you very much for your comments but this is not my garden. This is the garden of Helen Dillon. I am glad you love my garden and hope you will visit one day.
Thanks Rachel for taking us to see Helen's garden! So many beautiful August plants in full flower! Makes you think the garden is dedicated to that month only! Super video🙂
I know exactly what you mean, Maureen. I think this is the sign of a really great garden that when you visit you feel it was created for that month alone.
Yes, indeed. Most of us need to learn to live with our mistakes. But I don't think Helen made many mistakes. It can work the opposite way too. My mother sold her garden and house in her 60's and was really dying to start anew with a second garden but she found she no longer had the energy and came to regret her decision. Thanks for watching and have a nice day.
What a great garden Helen has built! I'd seen this two years ago in Gardener's world but it wasn't as colourful as it is now. I adore her style of gardening and love the colour combination she uses. Thanks ever so much for sharing and I hope you go back again and again.
Thank you so much for the lovely tour! Could I please ask you what plant that is at 5:55 in the video? It is the green plant with the pink blooms. I cannot tell if it is growing on or just up the wall. Thank you, again.
It is a super pea-family plant but, as it's not my garden, I can't tell you what it is. It looks a bit like Galega orientalis but Helen's plant seems to be a climber.
I didn't know verbena bonarensis could grow that tall! The combination with the similar colour Japanese anemone in front of it goes so well. I like that variegated leaf agave, it is striking and unique looking. That purple clematis is really nice too, I like the cluster of yellow stamens in each flower. Finally, about that ornamental butterfly on the wall - have been seeing a lot of that type it depicts flying about and on flowers where I am up near Belfast. They do like dandelion-family plants like that cosmos and the calendula I have and its great seeing such a showy flower as that with a butterfly on it.
She had a spacious greenhouse in her garden! In every winter, does she implant all the tropical plants, which are easy to be frozen, in the container or pot and move them all into the greenhouse? I wonder how she manages the plants in winter.
I imagine Helen overwinters tender plants in the greenhouse, however, her climate is very mild so she can leave things outdoors that I could not. I imagine she starts annuals in there in spring too.
You've inspired me a bit! I decided just the other day that I was going to take the course in my state (US here) to become a "Master Gardner" with all the knowledge of pests, grow patterns, etc. I primarily have houseplants but want to do a little something with my small front yard so I want to understand more about plants beyond grow zone and hardiness. You just now re-affirmed by decision when you said "pruning group 3" as I have no idea what that means even a little bit. I can't wait for the course sign-ups in November!
I am very happy to read this comment and surprised at the piece that triggered you so thank you for letting me know. I am sure you will love your horticultural course and I wish you all the best. Rachel.
Beautiful garden! I was wondering what material she used for the paths. Is it consolidated gravel? I’m thinking if it’s a show garden open to the public it would have to be suitable for wheel chair access.
I am sorry but I do not know what is used for the paths in the Dillon Garden. It is a small garden so does not need to be suitable for wheelchair access. Check the website (in the video details) for more information.
The garden is just beautiful but to me a garden is a place to sit and escape. I don't see any kind of place inviting a person to sit down, stay and enjoy here, though. Putting in a low stone wall or a couple of benches , I think would just make a beautiful garden even better.
I understand what you mean about sitting. There are sitting areas in the first and third area of the garden but gardeners seldom sit in their own gardens. They work in them 😂
Thank you for taking us on this trip. I live in Meath and I'm struggling to find a good garden supplier, do you have any suggestions as to where to get all these lovely plants.
Anyone with a collection like Helen's is constantly on the lookout for plants, buying some on line, swapping some and growing from seed. Johnstown Garden Centre in Naas has a good variety. Hope this helps.
This garden is one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen…Just LOVELY ❤
Beautiful garden...ty for sharing from the USA in Maryland. I so enjoy your garden and your tours of others garden's so inspiring

Could it be that Salvia fistulosa, but again doesn't look like it... Thank you very much for your reply. Thank you for sharing 🥰
Thank so much for sharing. The plant list is very helpful too👌👌💜
Glad it was helpful!

Great planting but I could not get a sense of the layout of the garden. Is it merely one path with borders on each side?
‘Amina’s secret garden’ is a great channel
You where given a plantlist why not let us know what plant we where looking at?🌻🌼🌷🌹🍁🍀
The plant names are written on the screen.
what kind of climber is blooming pink 5:52
That seems to be a popular climber as you are not the first to ask about it. I regret to sat, as it is not my garden, I do not know the name.
@@GardeningatDouentza I think, I found what kind of plant it is. In my opinion it is Indigofera Pendula. :)
Soil the source of all beauty . #savesoil
So true
I will think I side with Ishtar... That canna is delightful.
Ah yes, it's a good one 😁

Why the masks. There’s no one there. Lovely garden
Just because there are no people in the video, doesn't mean there was no one there.
@@GardeningatDouentza When you are not in the picture your voice does not sound like you are wearing a mask!
I think that’s she wears a mask when she gives a real life tour, so she just got into the routine.
Somebody has a lot of money
Masks in open air??? Crazy.
No Dillon garden for you then 😂
you havent got covid and helen hasnt got covid, then why the mask. justasking. ...lol...
You don't know either of those things
I wear a mask anytime I leave the house. 13 million people have it in my country.
Here in the US, there are over 340,000 people who could give you a reason, unfortunately, they all died from Covid.
