I went from knowing nothing when i got my license at 25 to being fairly good at car repairs thanks to Scotty! Never had to bring the two vehicles i own/ed into a so called real mechanics shop and i am 36 now(First car was a 95 altima 18 years old at the time). I have done(On my 2010 subaru non cvt) rad,alternator,drivebelt,drop trans pan and filter, control arms,wheel bearing, steering knucle,sway bar links and bushings,outer tie rods, diff oil,trans cool lines, and more i can't remember. RUclips and a haynes manual($1200 in tools so far also) will save you so so so much money thank you again Scotty Kilmer!

11 years ago, i started to tampered with my broken Hyundai. I was unployed, broke, with 3 years old child to raise! Your videos teach me allot. I have been my owne mechanic for 11 years. All of your recomendations checked out! I now one a Honda Fit. Small, practical, reliable easy to fix. I saw one off your videos about them, and follow your recomendations. I was going for a Toyota, but it was above my budget. Your advices allways checked out. Thank you.

In a country that's been taken over by crooks, left, right and center, you may be one of the last honest men who isn't trying to trick someone out of their money. That alone makes you a National Treasure. I'm your age, and remember when the fix wasn't in so completely. Thanks for being there and helping. I'm no mechanic but have worked on cars for fifty two years. By the way, I finally had my valves looked at in my 2007 Honda Accord (4 cylinder). All the exhaust gaps were still spec, but the intake side gaps needed to be tightened up a little. Not bad for 349,000 miles. .

Ditto - sort of. I was working on cars 52 years ago, and would and could do pretty much anything apart from structural welding. I remember when you'd open the bonnet of a car and see 2 wires running to the engine, and when you looked down you could see the ground.
Fell out of the habit of DIY when for decades I had company cars, and now I'm too old and creaky to want to lie on concrete with spanners in my hand.
Plus the cars have got too complicated to work on. I don't have a "classic" car, and for instance with my current drive the *EASIEST* way to replace a headlamp is to jack it up, remove the wheel, remove the mudshield from inside the wheel arch and have at it from the rear.
But then I remember my Dad trying to fix a dropped drivers door hinge on his 1950s Sunbeam Talbot, and think that in some ways it was ever thus...

Scotty, I just want to comment about how enjoy enjoy your videos. I just want to ask you about a speedometer and RPM gauge issue on my 1994 ES 300. It runs like a clock shifts like a clock drives like a dream just love the car, but, the needles on the speedometer and RPM gauge no longer show red they're black so it's difficult at best to read those two gauges. Any suggestions Scotty??

When we were looking for a car to replaced my Hyundai Elantra that I had bought new, and lost it in a crash, I found this channel and bought myself an older Toyota Camry, which I love it much more than I did my Hyundai. Months later, my son also lost his car in an accident, and bought an older Honda Accord that needed some TLC. Watched some of the videos in this channel and fixed it up well. He likes it more than his former newer car. We needed another car and chose to also get an older Honda Accord. Thank you for your channel.

I've been referring to this channel for answers to my questions for years and although my girlfriend thinks Scotty's voice is obnoxious I think he's a goldmine for honest and valuable information. Thanks for everything Scotty!

My cousin owned a Fiat 45 yrs ago, and still has the same view of the brand. He said Fiat stands for Fix It Again Tony. 40 yrs after that my son test drove a Fix It to see how it measured up to his car. Told me he wouldn't own one if you gave it to him. He owns a 64 Belvedere, with a slant 6, so that ought to tell you the quality he's after. He does own a 2017 car (won't tell ya), but only after doing a lot of research and having 15 yrs as a bus maintenance tech at the local transit company.

Scotty actually helped me start my business by drastically reducing my transportation costs. I put 50,000 miles on my cars in one year alone. I drive a 2003 Pontiac Vibe & a 2003 standard manual Honda CRV. Both still running strong at 200k & serving me well.
In July 2023, I bought a 2007 Lexus ES 350 with over a hundred and fifty thousand miles on it. I had confidence to buy it after watching every video I could find where are you reviewed Lexus ES 350s. I have no one else to advise me and anytime a little glitch comes up I just check in with you. It's the best used car I've ever bought no problems! Thank you!

First time commentor Scotty. Glad you are here keeping on doing what you do. A good automotive mechanic is as rare as a good first wife. You remind me of a mechanic we got with my Mom's 1972 Lincoln. That guy was the business. He made me take 3 years of shop and I've dabbled on for another 60 years. While I like the ease of use of the modern car? I prefer the old ones like you. Give me carbs to adjust, some drums to true and spoon and brake great at 130mph and I'm a happy camper. I'll never forget how my Mustang woke up when I put a dual-point distributor in her. My 289 went from 4500RPM revs to 7K. Then I got to rebuild her. : )
