I like these hightlights. Winter and Lowko always do full-game casts and that's consistent and nice and people like their humour and such, but sometimes it's just too long a video, especially when not much is happening in the game. This cuts out these bits, i like it. Feels like if T defends perfectly, Z is gonna lose every time, but i'm glad dark did a few good things a lot of zergs don't really care about, like still preserve their units and never stop attacking from different angles even at the point when they're swimming in resources, because in the long run, it's gonna be close anyway. Also super cool to see the ling runbys into the main, in the end maru had resources but couldn't spend them because dark killed his production earlier on.
Maru holding on for so long is fucking terrifying for anyone playing against him. Good grief he does NOT go down without a fucking fight of your life. GGWP
I'm surprised Maru didn't make a few widowmines with the heavy lingbane that Dark had. Love the addition of those blueflame hellbats though. It is crazy how Maru makes me rethink whether the game is winnable or not, I can just never be certain when it's him.
Lots of terran has stopped using widow mines recently. Last year Clem was using them a lot and went on a 96% win rate streak against Zerg but Zerg have figured it out. Now you can see there are always 10 overseer in the map and they can just quickly kill all the mines.
Maru vs Dark is always my favorite matchup to watch. Just every time these two play, it feels like we get some massive macro games with absolutely absurd micro and play on both sides. Its always such a treat regardless of who wins.
12:47 the most insane statistic there, to me, is that workers lost is 211 to 2. Dark's mining had gone basically uncontested for the whole game up until that point
What's more insane is the fact that those 211 SCVs didn't really matter all that much. Mules are simply too good at keeping Terran in the fight despite heavy worker losses. There's no way Zerg or Protoss could survive that many worker deaths, but so long as the Terran player keeps playing extremely efficiently Mules are enough.

Dark really putting gave the swarm treatment. Non-stop aggression, overwhelming angles, overwhelming numbers, and those borrowing lings... dear god we don't see Zerg abuse them as often as they should, such an annoyance. He played so good he almost made Maru look like a metal-league player with those sick bane connections on the SCV lines, what a game.

I watch alot of esports. Sc2 has the BEST casters of any esport and that makes me, a person who hasnt played starcraft in like 5 years, still watch Best casters ever
I really dislike these 2 actually. They make the game almost unbearable to watch for me, often I just mute the sound, lol. The fake laughing especially gets on my nerves.

I think its remarkable actually how well balanced SC2 is. With so many different units and how each races units function differently with different attacks and how different the economies function blizzard actually did a good job when it comes to game balance
How to improve the win rate of beating maru? Kill all his SCVs. After watching a lot of games, the reason for Maru's loss was that the opponents kept attacking his SCVs, and they didn't face Maru at all. In the end, the economic gap between the two sides was getting bigger and bigger. They produced a large number of soldiers and rushed over to win.
Is it acknowledged that zerg are by far the most op race in sc? The amount of extra micro a terran or protoss have to do just to be in the game is insane, it's why Maru is so mesmerising to watch, the guys a wizard.
Do ghost have a weakness? they pretty much kill anything zerg can throw at them. I mean, they do require insane micro though so I'm not saying it's a cheap easy unit to win with, but at this level they feel so broken. Plus they don't look like it but they are so damn tanky too.
@@aclock2 I mean the ghost aren't even light units, like, technically it ghost more in baneling cost than what a ghost cost to kill 1 ghost, I get that they are small so splash hurt a lot of them but the ghost also like... shoot. And you can split them against banelings. Ok maybe if you've got way too many ghost and opponent has a shitton of banelings it's time to add some tanks, but in theory baneling don't really win the cost effiiciency battle vs ghost. They are a bit slow to build so that's more of an issue, but I always feel like once you've accumulated enough ghost, if you don't make mistakes there is no army composition (at least for zerg) that really beats that if you have just a bit of other units in support.
Dude, watching Zerg consume the whole map and terran just holding on, especially knowing it's Maru, made me question myself at least 10 times thoughout the match: Iz Zerg gonna eventually dry out? I think it might...but surely Zerg wins, right? ....RIGHT???
I'm very confused and I know nothing about strats at this high of a level, but could someone tell me why the zerg just kept feeding ultra/bane/ling into his ghost/tank/marauder army instead of transitioning faster into a broodlord composition? Why did he wait until he almost ran out of resources?
He was up like 3 bases, and was for the entire match, basically meaning he had ~20k minerals and gas that he could afford to throw away. So it never mattered that he was wasting cheap units, as long as it meant Maru had less total resources it was fine.
Its the upgrade, Dark was heavy all-in on his tech onto LingBaneUltra, while keeping some Hydra as well. He cant switch out of that straight into BLord/Infestor, especially when Maru still has some economy to build up his anti-Blord army.
Ghosts need nerf. No other race can be down 85% of their worker population, severely have less bases than opponents, constantly lose map control and just defend their way to victory thanks to how OP their ghosts and T units are.

Their weakness is their cost, and Banelings do fairly well against pure Ghost.

Ghost's are the only reason that late game exist against Zerg in this day and age. Nerf them and we are back to the pre nerf infestor era
