Awesome video and I will never get the skill to achieve your amazing result. Thank you for sharing. It is like watching Rembrandt explain how to paint a masterpiece. Thank you and take care.
These are the type of Andy HHQ videos I miss. The reveals and unboxings are ok but to me the build and technique videos are the real meat and potatoes of this channel.
WOW! Great job and thanks for showing how you do this. I love weathering my models and I learn something every time I watch a new video because no 2 people weather things the same. I can't wait to see more.
Brilliant Andy, especially around the turret mantle. One thing I thought about and I'd say quite difficult to replicate is moss in the hatch hinge crevices and similar areas. You always find moss somewhere. It would be the cherry on the cake if you came up with a way of doing it. Even my car gets some about the window seals as it is parked on the north side of the house in our damp climate in Ireland. I doubt if there would be much paint left on a russian turret after 40/50 years . A German or allied one for that matter, as paint was terrible compared to todays paint. I have read that Russian tanks often left from the factories without even primer becuase of shortages and demand.
I've seen some great moss techniques on the Night Shift channel. He loves to use it to highlight his armor and also buildings in diorama's he does. Masterful.
Thanks. For me it just confirms you need to be an artist to do this stuff. I have a 1:16 RC Tamiya Leo 2A6 that I''ll never paint - I don't want $X,xxx worth of kit ruined due to my terrible painting skills.
Amazing results, Andy, great technique! 👍 And the video showed exactly how you achieved the effect, making it a very useful guide/tutorial - well done! I do find the bright rust used by some modellers to be too bright/stark, even at the best of times, where fresh rust on a tank is prevalent . So, I especially find brighter shades of rust out of place on a heavily weathered tank like this, where rust would mostly have a very dark, brownish tone to it (there just wouldnt be any exposed metal left, susceptible to rusting). My two cents and I still love the video! ❤
Looks pretty good. Even the really light green is decent, I've got a photo of a bunch of BTR-60s in a field, running from dark greent to almost a light yellowish green. Production of 4BO paints had as much as a 40-60% variation in some of the colors added.
I usually spray them out of the bottle and get nice finish , other times( when it seems thick ) I have only used there thinner. I think you will have to experiment .
Excellent technique there Andy . The welds should be bright and shiny metal as they generally don't rust . One of those .5 mm chrome pens should do the job . Waiting patiently for your next 1/16 release. All the best from Australia.
Hi Andy, Nice presentation. Years ago you did a video on rust with your own mix of rust paint and pigments. I cant find it. do you remember the name of that video. Thanks
In your previous video you put on a clear coat before the chipping fluid but in this video you did not at the clear coat. Can you amplify when you need the clear coat?
On the one hand it looks easy - 'Oh, you just do that.' On the other hand it's - 'Dear Lord, I am never going to be able to do that. I certainly don't want to waste a kit with a crummy attempt.' Sadly, there are less and less "cheap" kits to experiment on. So I just want to play it safe and finish a model with the 'just out of the factory' look!
"You dont see it in person but you will see it on video" - Its common issue for all artist. After spending lots of time on the piece we stop noticing some obvious flaws, thats why we use mirrors to get different perspective for a moment. 😊
ANDY, I do with you wouldn't shout so loudly during your introductions. Perhaps you could investigate a better microphone arrangement instead of blowing peoples' ears out. I'm sure something would plug into or wirelessly interphase with your video recording device.
@@rowdymodeler1804 Here's a thought. Don't be a presumptuous smart-ass. Even with the volume lowered Andy's shouting intros are still uncomfortable for headphone users. How about we focus on the source of the issue - Andy's lack of audio production / failure to invest in a cheap microphone [he is undoubtedly a very rich businessman and could even write it off as an expense]. Not everyone - including NEW VIEWERS wants their ears blown off because Andy shouts when there are much better / intelligent solutions.
It’s videos like this that got me subscribing to your channel, not open box nor test shots
Now, these are the videos that we love. Old school Andy !!
And THERE IT IS 🏆🏆
Thanks Andy, the effect looks amazing and it was very cool to watch...

Amazingly realistic technique! I love it! Has me wanting to waste out a tank in a field for a diorama sometime. Just to do one! Great vid!

Inspiring to you job and your skills are amazing

Simply amazing work.
Great tutorial. Thanks for sharing.
That looks awesome. It really looks like rusted metal. Thanks for the lesson.
Hi Andy
Great weathering technique mate!
Thanks for sharing your video presentation ❤😊
Thank you.
Another great tutorial video from Andy, thanks for sharing, best regards from Australia 👍👍👍👍
You know, Andy. A good restorer could get that old turret looking like new again.
Looks great Andy. Thanks for the tips.
wow nice,I recently started modeling and I will definitely try this technique
Loved this episode and a superb how to!!
Great demo!

Excelente!
Also the perfect look of a tank that suffered from intense internal fires and then sat in a field over winter.
Good day!) Very nice!👍
Awesome music
......made to look sooooo simple.....🤪👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏻👍🏻
Really good video Andy, I can put this to good use, thanks.
Looks like it got towed out of the Aberdeen proving grounds after sitting in the elements for 50 years, fantastic job!
Totally Freaking C😎😎 LLL Andy, We've MISSED THESE Types Of Videos Brother 🤗🤗 GBA 👍 Gary.

Your lucky, having all the stuff to do it,don't get me wrong looks great
Just looks amazing to me i hope you are going to do more videos like this it would be nice to see you do a car all rusty
Very nice.
👀WooW 😍 👍🏼
Brilliant job Andy, It looks amazing! With natural sunlight its gets better! It really looks like a real 1:1 piece
super
With the Mig acrylic paints is there a passable substitute for thinner if I don't have any mig Airbrush thinner?
I usually spray them out of the bottle and get nice finish , other times( when it seems thick ) I have only used there thinner. I think you will have to experiment .
I just ordered a lot of stuff from u

It will be too heavy, he explains it.
Nice info. What were your thinner/ paint ratios? Or are Mig paints direct from bottle ready?
I use direct from bottle
Hey Andy! What about metallic paints? Is this putty adequate to mask on matallic finishes?
Would this technique work for a destroyed and burnt out tank?
I saw some examples of WW2 relics in Europe years ago, and they typically had plants and lichens on them. How would you depict moss growing on this?
Hi Andy, Nice presentation. Years ago you did a video on rust with your own mix of rust paint and pigments. I cant find it. do you remember the name of that video. Thanks
I can see people doing a lot of junkyard old cars and trucks like this.
Andy when are you going to produce a 1/16th scale British SAS jeep?
In your previous video you put on a clear coat before the chipping fluid but in this video you did not at the clear coat. Can you amplify when you need the clear coat?
I usually do put clear coat , this time I tried it without and it worked the same.I put it on just in case, and clear coat won't hurt anything.

i use baking powder which i dye and finish it with a very very matt varnish. True matt varnish is getting more and more difficult to find

Seems odd to replicate a turret that's been left for 70 years???"!!!

Here's a thought.. you have volume control on your device? Turn it down.. just saying

@@paulosborne6517ust keep your headphones off during the intro if you know its an issue 😂
