The guy broke the law & was armed with a deadly weapon.
The officers tried less than lethal & had no choice.
It wasn't about $2.90, nor the color of his skin.
The councilman should resign for his uninformed & irresponsible comments.

YOU ARE%100 RIGHT BUT POLITICS ISN’T ABOUT RIGHT OR WRONG IT’S ABOUT POWER AND WE HAVE POOR PEOPLE TO PUSH AGAINST THE NYPD AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY BECAUSE THEY WILL DO THE SAME AGAINST US . F12

Qualified Immunity allows the police to not worry about the results of their actions. What makes it okay for anyone to shoot guns into a crowded subway? Makes me question what is being taught at the police academy.

The awarded to the A-H who haven't spent a single minute in uniform, but know exactly how any situations should have been handled and shared and their knowledge through social media.

One question why didn't they arrest him the first time they saw him with the knife , way to drop the ball on that one and now have to explain stupidity as to why we have unfit officers policing unfit civilians the blind leading the blind

Reckless and dangerous was the suspects conduct. Reckless and negligent is this politician's rhetoric!

The NYPD were attempting to stop an unruly person from entering. The unruly person became belligerent failed to comply with a lawful directive, which escalated into an unfortunate incident. Either we want an orderly society and support the police, or risk anarchy and chaos in our environment.

If it was about a knife and not $2.90 why didn’t the officers pursue the man the first time he pulled the knife out? He left the train station with an open knife and the officers did nothing, they waited until he returned and went through the gate then they pursued him. He was on the street for 5- 10 minutes with a knife the cops could of called for backup and safely confiscated the knife from the individual in an open non crowded area, they ignored the issue and didn’t pursue him about the knife until he went through the train stain gate and didn’t pay which makes the NYPD’s claim that it wasn’t about the fare a lie.

Why does the Council member automatically blame the Police and not the knife welding suspect?? These DEI City Council members need to get elected out of office.

I want to see how he would have reacted. There should be more backing of officers by politicians instead of using unfortunate events as a weapon for their personal agendas.
I hear no concrete solutions to the mental health crisis in nyc. Instead of bashing officers, direct your attention to getting these dangerous people off the streets

Although he makes a great point about the tasers being useless on someone with clothes on. When you go for flu shot, you roll up your sleeve. Taser only useful if the person is shirtless.
