Limiting the hardware capabilities with software packages behind paywalls is such a terrible direction for the industry. BMW already went through this and I hope people push back on this.
Perfect example of how it kills the car culture. You can't do anything to it. You can't even add the "bigger motor" because its all code. This will back fire, especially when they are getting shot up at sunoco on every corner of a decent size city
This is the same interior as the challenger!! Looks like it’ll be a perfect fit 😏
Unfortunately, people are gonna pay for it which will cause these crappy practices to last. Fast food prices have risen like crazy with all of this inflation and fast food chains can get away with their obscene prices since people still pay the obscene prices. Fight with your wallet people
I actually prefer it. Now I can upgrade the car without voiding the warranty.
@@powertoyz you can install a bigger electric motor. Higher amperage battery pack. Fully customizable speed controller, and even a simulated manual transmission on EVs. Look it up and see.
I just bought a last call 2023 Challenger Scatpack …the vibrations in my cabin from the 6.4 L V8 and the exhaust sound are unique. Nothing can or will replace the experience of hearing a roaring v8 start in a cold morning! Not even the best “speaker exhaust” sound they are putting in these things…but I might be wrong?
But…these look nice! For sure expensive. Would like for these to take off in the market but I’m 100% happy with my NA V8 engine. No regrets!
Agreed, we have a 2023 Dodge Charger RT Scat Pack with the 392 Hemi V8 in it with 485 HP and 475 Ibs of torque and let me tell you its a freakn beast.
The new sound will likely not impress you. With any of these "muscle car EVs," the target audience is those that want maximum straight line performance. If you care more about the sound quality, then you're not really the target audience they're trying to sell to.
We need to just get a rolling chasis of the 2025 inline 5 Charger and drop a Hemi in it
Awd twin turbo straight 6 will be fine with a nice exhaust.
6000 lbs is insane

That thing is 1300 pounds heavier than my 03 Tahoe. Ridiculous.
Look up EV's and guard rails. They blow through them like a hot knife through butter. Doesn't stop em at all.

On top of that it will be noticeable lighter

17:06 I'm so glad the audio buttons on the back of the steering wheel survived! They're the most used buttons in my car lol
I encountered these for the first time in my Jeep and now I can't go back. When I drive my wife's car I keep reaching for the back, it's just so convenient. A great design decision for sure.

@@tomas9830 Looks like a 6.2 would fit.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was some gimp code in the cpu and will completely destroy the car if you try. Or they probably engineered it so tight that the v8s are too big. This new dodge brand sucks.
That's not a "New" Logo, it's the Fratzog Logo that Dodge introduced in the early 1960's and used up until 1980 Dodge Colt....I'm thrilled it was brought back!

Haha this is why I was on the road all day last Friday!
Great video Matt. I think we all knew there was no way Dodge could afford to not have a gas version. I'm super excited to see more on these and hear about pricing. If it can be competitively priced, this is BY FAR the best looking and most conventional EV on the market.
Solid review Matt!

The i6 charger will be freaking awesome! They should have released them in the opposite order.
Looks really impressive
I'm so glad they went with a 4 door NO ONE REPORTED THAT!!,this is the first I'm hearing it and I'm taking a second look- great👍 review Matt
Thanks, glad you liked it!
This is ugly
Dodge put the 4 door version in the launch video lol.
When I look at the 4-door; all I see is a front push bar, light rack on the roof, and white front doors with the name of the local constabulary on them in two years.
wouldn't surprised it that happens sooner than that, you never always know what they got going on behind the scenes.
"no compromises" except for range, ease of refueling, and weight. I'm by no means against electrification, but the current technology is not ready for mass use.
I’m against EV. The government should have no say in what vehicles auto makers choose to manufacture. Let consumers decide with their wallets.
How many miles do you drive in a day? Most people with an EV charge at home. Cost me dirt cheap to drive. Driving my ICE vehicle after driving an EV is like going from a modern car to a car from the 1960’s.
@@appleiphone69 it depends on several conditions. While the majority of my week is less than 100 miles total, I do like to travel on weekends and the nearest major metropolitan area to me is 150 miles away. That's the vast majority of the range on these cars, and doesn't leave a lot of room for driving around town. I also do enjoy a road trip now and then, and have driven cross country several times. While there are many Tesla branded chargers nationwide, you have to plan a trip around them, and any independently owned chargers are usually in various states of repair. Add to it the amount of time involved to charge a car, vs filling a gas tank, it doesn't appeal to me at this stage in their development. Either get charging times down, and well maintained, consistently fast charging points on the same level of availability as gas stations are now, or work on something with a hydrogen fuel cell (which has it's own infrrastructure limitations as well, I do understand that will need taken care of too). Like I said, I'm not anti-Electric. I'm not happy with the current battery types due to the way they're produced, the current charging infrastructure leaves a lot to be desired, as well as the length of time to charge. Makes anything but around town driving/charging at home a bothersome issue for me.
@@hunterdonnelly7422 I agree the government should not fool with the free market. However, I see some serious performance boosts that an electric car with instant torque can provide. But, the excessive weight, charging times, range, etc all factor in to make it unsuitable for me at the current level of development.
@@appleiphone69Well, yeah. I live in NYC where many people live in apartments and therefore have to park on the street as they don't own a driveway/garage. Every electric car owner I know (which isn't many) has their own house to charge their car. Understandbly, people who have to rely on street parking are not going to be into electric cars and the inconveniences that come with it. Until EV charging times can compete with refueling times, I don't see EV's ever becoming super popular in congested cities like NYC/Boston/Philadelphia anytime soon.
This is a phenomenal review
Thanks!

Wow the red one looks good and AWD sweet
The tech is cool…but the real question is how much are these going to cost? I’m guessing we will see $80,000 plus electric versions which will price out most people. Even the turbo 6 models will be selling over sticker thanks to all the “honest Dodge dealerships” throughout the USA. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dodge dealers are probably the worst about mark ups
@@Accost2u they are the worst…selling Dodges at Ferrari prices.

Looks great
317 range is legit for a car like this. The current ICE R/T gets approximately 296 miles on a full tank.
And takes 3min to fill up. Unlike the EV that will take hours to charge
That's theoretical range. Typically with EVs they tell you not to go below 20% state of charge. Charging an EV usually goes pretty quickly up to about 80%. Going from 20% to 80% takes maybe 20 minutes on a 150kW charger. After 80% charging speed slows down dramatically. So a lot of people live in that 20% to 80% state of charge range, which means you really only get to use about 60% of your battery capacity. That means you would be at about 190 miles most of the time. I'll be interested in seeing reports from real users.
that range is assuming you drive it lightly, if you drive it hard expect like 120 mile range 😂😂
@@tomconway6808thanks Captain Obvious
I'm wondering how that range will last in cold regions like the Northeast and Midwest. I used to drive buses at an airport and between the hybrid, diesel and electric buses on the lot, the electric buses always had tons of issues in the winter season. Frankly, these buses were always riddled with issues year round and it was common to see them being towed back to the lot.
It is 5,900 lbs. That is absurd for a 2 door car.
The Ice version will be way lighter
@@whosdondada and WAY SLOWER.
@@LearningFastIt aint about speed, it is about enjoyment.
@@fortheloveofnoise9298 why would anyone enjoy a 5,838 lb two door car? What about that is enjoyable?
@@LearningFast I don't necessarily think anyone was bringing their outgoing model Chargers to a road course. As long as Dodge provides the necessary braking package to stop these heavy behemoths in a straight line, I don't think the weight will ultimately prevent the target audience for these cars from purchasing them.
Looks awesome.
The four doors is dope 👍👍
If you smoking yes! 😅
Honestly , while I’m underwhelmed by the ev performance levels (obviously waiting for the banshee ) it’s so badass to have something that looks like this. Sounds cool , and genuinely is different and focuses on fun ! Once they offer something with plaid power it should be a killer !
Way better looking than the current challenger and charger.
The more I see them and seeing people’s reaction to the Tesla truck. I think these will sell ok, yes EV demand is down but there’s also quite a few people who want something exciting from EVs.
And they may not be the fastest but these Chargers definitely look the coolest outside of EV sport and super cars out there.
Matt do you know if there will be a manual transmission option?
You're so good at what you do, make sure the videography and lighting is equal, or maybe this was the only opportunity to record... Love your content.
You can tell they added the ICE option last minute.

It looks like the 1st gen 66 Charger even down the the interior. I was disappointed it didn't have the iconic side body line at first, but this final version is clearly inspired more by the original 66, which did not have the body line introduced by the 68.

So no cons? Sounds like a big commercial for Dodge. Love your vids for the most part.
I provided the specs. The cons are subjective this time. Some won’t like the extra weight, charging times, the whole EV thing, lack of V8, etc. I personally find no issue with anything here.
Not for me but you did a good job detailing the car in this setting
Thanks!
That v6 is gonna be a beast
Inline 6…not V6. Big difference!!
27 minutes just to charge the damn thing?!? Yea the EVs are not going to sell. Time is too short these days to spend half an hour at the station when I can just fill it in less than 2 minutes with ICE engines
I think all the challengers look amazing🏎️💪
The giant brake rotors and calipers are more for show than anything else. Regen will do most of the work. VW's ID4 is big, heavy, and pretty fast and uses drum brakes in the rear. I think the sides of the two-door are too plain and could use some retro (maybe retro-electric-style) decals. I don't like the four-door or the ICE version to come. A two-door muscle electric car sounds good to me as long as you keep the fake exhaust turned off.
Any news about a manual in the sedan?
It sounds like the gas ones will be auto-only but I guess we’ll see.
