Yep, aspirational exotic dream cars, audio, etc. help me to know the end result goal, while I buy affordable car/audio that have the same performance. The exotic stuff doesn't perform better, they're eye candy, name brand, etc. Example: I bought a new Corvette after test driving several Porsche 911.
Best time to be into hifi than ever - Wiim makes a good sounding all-in-one for $350 bucks.. You can build a system for $5K that sounds fantastic. Oligarch audio is a distraction from the fact that trickle-down tech from high-end R&D in hifi gear is "lifting all boats."
I can understand that in some ways, but I'll offer a differing thought to that by saying that you should watch it *if* the product, even if expensive now, is actually really, really good and could bring benefit in other ways in the future.
That could be some of it. But I really think that, as I said in the video, the "oligarch audio" stuff plays an outsized role in terms of what we see day to day.
I personally love watching reviews on "High end & ultra high end" audio. It's aspirational. No difference to Hyper cars, watches etc etc
That is 100% valid. We cover the entire range of market on our various sites. Some people do want to see that ultra high end!

Doug…. I agree.. todays ordinary equipment is far superior…
This is true -- we've learned a lot over the decades!

We agree!
If something is realistically outside my price-class, i wont waste my time watching the review.

People are mad at Capitalism….
