Hello, looks to me like you’ve done this before. Are you a professional carpenter? I see some different window framing techniques with the jack studs and sill plate. Sometimes, I see jack studs that are continuous from the header to bottom plate with the sill plate just nailed to the side of the jacks. In your case, you cut your jack studs to accommodate the sill plate. Is your way stronger?
I'm certainly not a carpenter by trade. I've learned the few things I know from RUclips and books. From a load-bearing perspective supporting the header both techniques should be the same strength. The way I did mine might provide extra support to the ends of the sill plate. The sill isn't necessarily load-bearing, but I did at times use the sill plates as a step when I framed the rafters. It may have been beneficial for that.
Nicely done! What are the dimensions of the cabin?
Thanks Doug! It’s approximately 12x20.
