I've known about this case for a couple of years. My belief has always been that Janice (the usual babysitter) was the target and Evelyn was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I beleive that too. Also it's not out of the realms of possibility that Ed gein was involved since he was staying with family a few blocks away that evening..
I agree that going into a house where you can see lights on, to burglarize the place, is not an ideal choice unless you know what you want is in that house. The two guys that came forward about the farmer could have been accomplices trying to insert themselves into the investigation (one of them could have been the voice picked up in the bar tape). Could be the two guys that came forward were the killers, implicating a dead man. Sad we may never know. Great video.
I really think that the farmer theory holds the most promise here. It’s just really frustrating that he’s now long dead 😕 I wonder if his house & his land is still there? Unbuilt on? Maybe relatives inherited his belongings & don’t even realise that they could possibly hold the key? 🤔
As someone who is from LAX county the farm is still there but the actual house is long gone... We all think she's under the pavement from when everything was under construction. Lacrosse is notorious for not ripping up old pavement and just adding on top of it, especially in this area of LAX, at the base of Grand Dad's Bluff.
Perhaps the killer knew folks were at the game so when he drove past the house he spotted Evelyn inside alone and knew no one would be around to see anything

I think they were waiting for her when she came downstairs. Possibly the baby cried when she was put down and that is when the person entered undetected. I also think that the situation with the farmer is very suspicious but it's unfortunate the witnesses waited 20 years to come forward, although maybe the witness protections we have in place today wouldn't have been in place then. Can you do a Hit's Home case for Alyssa Wiles? She was murdered in my home town of Duncan, Oklahoma by her boyfriend a few years ago. She was only 14. It is a good example for younger people and being safe while dating. Thank you!
Wonderful stories and you do such a wonderful job telling the story for these poor victims. Two more cases, Tammy Belanger an eight year old girl missing from Exeter, New Hampshire in the early eighties and eighteen year old Mary Tanner from Kennebunk, Maine. Mary Tanners friends and family are trying to bring light to Mary’s unsolved murder that took place in 1978. The body of little eight year old Tammy Belanger has never been found. A suspect has since died. It would be great if you could tell these girls stories so that they will not be forgotten.
Hi Gaby, would you please consider covering the Elizabeth Bain case which occurred in Toronto Canada. She has been missing since 1990 and although it is referred to as a murder case, her body has never been found and no one knows what happened. It is a very bizarre and incredibly haunting case that still lingers in the memory of those from her area . Her boyfriend was tried and convicted of her murder and served 8 years, but than was pardoned because it was believed to be a wrongful conviction. To this day he says he didnt do it.
Never heard this case before. Thanks for covering. Regarding the last theory: it makes sense what the men said about the farmer. There were only one set of shoes prints. The shoes and jacket fit. But the men should have gone to the police right away. Them holding onto that information for as long as they did was just stupid. Thanks again.
I think that it was not robbery at all- I think their intention was violence as you said. Which also brings me to the point that I really believe that the two men were telling the truth about the farmer because they kept the same story and even tried to continue the investigation going even after the farmer was dead.
I've spent a lot of time in and around the La Crosse area in my lifetime and I have never heard of this case! Thank you for bringing it to my attention, poor family never getting answers before they passed away. That's awful.
But they have a daughter the same age as Evelyn. Why would they need a babysitter for when the Rasmussen family dudbte all go out together? Unless the daughter was the target. The 15 Yr old Rasmussen daughter perhaps?
You cover your cases so thoroughly and professionally as with this one. Even if this was a target killing I think the perpetrator was drunk or stoned. They killed her and disposed of the body. In the morning they were unaware of the enormity of their action. I think if you covered the George (Superman) Reeves something would turn up. Your expertise is up there with the true crime shows that I used to watch and try to solve back in England.
Well done, Gabby. You are very professional and do excellent research. God bless you for helping to solve these horrible crimes. May dear Evelyn find peace and love on the Other Side. 🌷
Hi Gabby, this is another sad and tragic missing person case. Hope Evelyn will be found one day. Too many old cold cases. Tomorrow I will be at a hospital for a minor colonoscopy procedure. I am glad I was able to watch your vlog today. So sorry to about this strange and scary babysitting story. I can't trust some people and strangers. Have a great week!
Hey Gabby I found a case on the doe network that i like and I think u should maybe do a video on ....... The case of Rebecca Ann triska , a girl whos the same age as the girl we r talking about here who has been missing since September 19, 1958 and still 2 this day we still don't know what happened to her and there's a man who is a suspect in her disappearance but he claims he has nothing to do with her disappearance and this guy actually died of cancer in the 90s and idk like u say it's very fishy and if u wanna u can make a video on her
I think theory three about the other baby sitter - or the farmer one. Two guys hanging on to a story that long seem pretty determined to get it out there.
Can you provide any info? I don't see anything about Brigette neither on reddit or websleuths. If she's missing or became a victim of unsolved crime maybe you yourself could help.
@@leannah9832 Is their much info online about this case though? If their isn't much info then I doubt Gabby would be able to do a whole video on it if you no what I mean?
It sure seems as if these men knew about her by some means of every house in the immediate area of the majority of them were all void of people at that moment, and that certainly begs the question as to why no one bothered to question any of the home owner's friends, neighbor's friends and so forth... Such a strange situation and I can't get passed the thought of her being targeted specifically... It's terrifying knowing that these kinds of people act well and seldom show signs of their innate madness.
This case is from my home town and still haunts everyone... We all think that she's buried under the roads that were under construction. LAX is notorious for not ripping up old pavement and just adding new on top... That's why our roads suck 😂
This is a difficult and sad case. I am thinking of the robbery gone wrong. It seems to me that it had to be someone who watched the house and knew that the Ramusens would not be home. I don't know.

Being a mom, I have to wonder why the parents didn't want her to leave the blanket at 7pm when she put Janice to bed? Why wait 15 minutes? Am I the only one who finds this odd?
@@michelewalburn4376 okay awesome. I've been thinking about it trying to come up with something. I was thinking that or they didn't want to blanket to end covering the baby's face or kick the blanket off, roll over, and not be able to breathe. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
They would've had to have been very far ahead of the time. People only stopped using baby blankets in the crib very recently. Maybe she had covered her face before though. It just made my alarm bells go off when she said that. I'm trying to rationalize that part of the story, but he could be involved. He could've been watching her since he knew her dad. He could've paid someone to take her out of there or he could've had something over someone's head and blackmailed them until doing it.
@@michelewalburn4376 they didn't have curtains in the front window. If she put Janice to bed at 7pm that would give someone the chance to walk around to the house and get in through the basement and her not hear anything. 15 minutes later, she's upstairs with no real way to escape without getting past whoever it was. Definitely a setup. Murder mystery solved by people on RUclips.
I just read an article about this case. It was an interview with Rozalyn Rasmussen. She was the older child that they took with them to the game. It is in the Last Crosse Tribune. I take back my comment about her dad. I don't believe that now. She went into more detail about how paranoid her parents became. That man never got over that. He felt responsible for having get babysit. She talks about how that impacted her life. It's a very good read.
maybe it was someone who knew the parents wont be there but the babysitter. Maybe he/they really wanted the other babysitter but took her since she saw them. I think it could be more than just one person.
well. this reminds me of my uncle which is my mother little brother. in 1980s. my grandma gave birth to a little boy named tirta. but few months after she gave birth. my grandma relative wants to take care of my uncle. my grandma gave a note to her. : introduce me to the child once he was big. well my grandma met him once a week maybe? idk... until that she never see her child ever again. well she got a news that her relative sold her child. but its weird that she never report it to police. and chose to find it herself. until now my grandma died in 2015 not knowing where her child at... if my uncle is alive he would have been 30s. very sad actually. also my grandma relative died at 2016-2017 ish. i wish i could meet my uncle.
🚨🚨🚨🚨 Please do the case of Trudy Appleby she was also from Illinois but not the Windy City. She was abducted in Moline, IL and the case is still open it’s small town that gets no attention.
horrible thought, but maybe the original babysitter accidentally mentioned something thinking the family would be gone because she was not babysitting and the men took the chance... not realizing it was her causal comment, like outside a shop to a friend not noticing the man listening in that the house would be empty... yikes, her poor mom, she must never have forgiven herself for not trusting her feeling! I hope they get closure and healing...
I wonder if the farmer could have been the third person mentioned on the cassette? It does sound like he was involved but it also does seem like there would have been more than one person involved in taking her. I think given one of her shoes was found in the basement that they left through the window. That would have been much more likely to happen with two people, maybe one waiting outside. Then the third was driving, doing laps of the area and meeting them back at a specified place and time.
I've seen other small documentaries about this case. And what confuses me is, OK, the bad guy came in through an unlocked basement window to kidnap the babysitter. Why did he take the babysitter back out the basement window? Wouldn't it have been much easier to open the front door and walk out? Or open the back door and walk out? But he took her back down to the basement and through that small window. It makes absolutely no sense.
This is a sad case. I share the same birthday with her. I will be praying for more answers in this case. God knows the truth and u pray he will show us the truth soon so her family can have closers.
I also have a theory nobody's mentioned on any video yet. Since the screams were heard at 7:15 pm and 7:15 pm is the time she was to put the blanket on the baby, logic would say that she went to the baby's bedroom to put the blanket on the baby at 7:15 but as she entered the baby's bedroom, the men were already in there waiting for her. She never got to put the blanket on the baby because the men startled her and she screamed. This would explain the screams the neighbors heard at 7:15 pm and it would explain why the baby was not covered at 7:15 pm. I suspect the men entered the home through that basement window and made their way up to the baby's bedroom and sat in wait for the babysitter to come into the room at 7:15 pm. I suspect they had been sitting by the window listening to the mother giving the instructions to the babysitter about putting the baby down for bed at 7: 00 pm and then going back in at 7:15 pm to cover her. So the men, having heard this conversation through the window, snuck in through the basement window and made their way to the baby's bedroom between the time she put the baby down at 7: 00 pm and 7:15 pm. This happened unbeknownst to the babysitter that they had entered the home and went up to the baby's bedroom. Then they waited till 7:15 pm. When she entered the baby's room at 7:15 pm to cover her up, they grabbed her, startling her and she screamed and the baby was never covered with the blanket.
1. I'm legitimately curious how many people buy shoes (then or now) based on what the intended function of the shoe /vs/ things like comfort or just having the right size in stock. I can't remember the last time I actually said, "I'm going to be walking; I need to buy a walking shoe." But either way, it sounds like the thing that is circumstantial, at best. The kind of thing where you find the guy by other means and then when you find out he was in the right profession for them it's a nice bonus. 2. I have no idea what the state of CSI was in the 1950s, but surely they could've figured out the general weight of the person who left the footprint by way of either plaster casting, or if that didn't exist yet, a slide rule and a keen eye. 3. The tape recording story is downright bizarre. Did he say what year said recording was made? Is it weird he was listening to the recording AND happened to know about the case when the name popped up on the recording? Is it weird that he was let into a venue of any sort with a damn tape recorder? I mean, an old mini-cassette "note-to-self" type recorder, sure. Either way, by 2004, even I could've faked that one easily. 4. I know you mentioned DNA at some point in this video, but what you actually said already slipped my mind and I can't seem to find it scrubbing through, so I'll just say that with that much blood on a pair of shoes and denim jacket that surely DNA testing of one variety or another should be on the table at this point? Reverse genealogy seems to be gaining a ton of momentum lately in solving old cases like this. 5. Random thoughts: I think it's a safe bet that robbery wasn't the motive. Maybe it's just my complete lack of experience in this sort of thing, but while I've heard a billion times about criminals making a murder scene look like a robbery, I've never heard of it going the other way. I can't imagine anyone killing a human being and then not grabbing at least a few things from the house for the trouble. I seriously doubt that this happening on homecoming night is a coincidence, either. And while that makes the robbery theory more logical, it still doesn't make sense that nothing was stolen if that's the case. If they panicked upon having to kill someone, they would've just left the body and run, not dragged her two blocks away and risk being seen. The fact that only someone several houses away hears her scream and not her next-door-neighbors is...interesting, but between sunset and the time her dad shows up to check on her is several hours, and being homecoming night, who knows if the neighbors were even home at the time it would've taken place. Also, can't help but sigh at your inability to even talk about Ed Gein without getting demonetized. Not that you'd need to, it's just a sad state of affairs that you'd even have to consider such things.
It's almost like they knew the babysitter's routine. Chances are they knew the original babysitter, but maybe didn't know she wouldn't be babysitting that night. I also wonder if she didn't scream at the house so she wouldn't wake the baby, for fear that they would hurt the baby as well.

I mean you ALWAYS look beautiful, but nice to see you switch it up! Haha 💕
The babysitter theory sticks out in my mind!
But they have a daughter the same age as Evelyn. Why would they need a babysitter for when the Rasmussen family dudbte all go out together? Unless the daughter was the target. The 15 Yr old Rasmussen daughter perhaps?
Omg I finally understood the pun in the title. And I’ve watched the video 3-4 times cuz I keep falling asleep to it.
I always wonder about assailants from the community of the team that the homecoming game was playing that night in cases of crime on nights like that.
My favourite RUclips and I'm here early? Blessssss
Please please please do a video about Brigette Garnier. She's from my home town, Roseisle Manitoba.I know I sound like a broken record.😯😕
I doubt that's possible. I tried to found anything about Brigette via google and there is nothing.
Sorry it's spelled brigitte
Can you provide any info? I don't see anything about Brigette neither on reddit or websleuths. If she's missing or became a victim of unsolved crime maybe you yourself could help.
She was taken from a rock festival. And found her brutally murdered. Kyle Unger went to jail for her murder but was later acquitted
Love your channel 😻 I miss your conspiracy theories and paranormal videos, though! ❤️😭
Best lipstick choice you've made! Love it!
Really fascinating thank you . Love your in depth research and respect for the victims thank you
This case is from my home town and still haunts everyone... We all think that she's buried under the roads that were under construction. LAX is notorious for not ripping up old pavement and just adding new on top... That's why our roads suck 😂
Love your channel!!
This is my great aunt (grandads sister). Good video
Maybe she wasn't able to break free and scream until a few houses down?
This is a difficult and sad case. I am thinking of the robbery gone wrong. It seems to me that it had to be someone who watched the house and knew that the Ramusens would not be home. I don't know.
Gabulosis & Amber loves mystery are my favorite true crime youtubers 😀
I think they were after the original babysitter and just settled for the one who was there.
Thanks for the upload!!
Now I want to see you cover the Samuel Little case‼️‼️
LIVING for the pun in the title
Me too!
Gabulosis - a tragic tale well told! Thank you for your professionalism and for your great heart. You have many subscribers and you deserve even more. I discern subtle changes as your work emerges - you never stop growing. Of all the sites I watch yours and MysteriousWV are my favorite. The moment I see your name, I jump to your next mystery. Infinite thanks! PK
Gabulosis would you please do a story or stories on one, two or all three of the missing little boys that I am going to list? Victor Shoemaker Jr was 5 years old when he disappeared in 1994. I used to work with Victor's mother. Dennis Martin was 6 years old when he disappeared in 1969. Alfred Beilhartz was 4 years old when he disappeared in 1938.
I'm a WI resident and I've never heard of this. Heartbreaking.
Your hair is beautiful
Looking into this case and apparently the guy that had taped the conversation that implicated 3 men in the abduction/possible murder of Evelyn said he just....forgot about it a few days later, which was why he hadn't come forward earlier and I'm just like?? HOW???
Did the police look where the men said they buried her?Why not?
What an insane case!
You should do a video on the disappearance of Martha Jean Lambert
Ed Gein, the inspiration for the novel, and film, Psycho and for Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
As much of a PITA as they can be(4 AM potty breaks), there are advantages to having a Great Dane and a Great Dane/German Shepard mix.
someone needs to do a video on mother's intuition or intuition in general!!! there was a day I felt sick to my stomach then I got fired that day... I knew something was coming...
please please please cover Erik Cross. He was from Vicksburg, Michigan where i grew up and still am growing up. it’s an gruesome unsolved murder case, but it was re opened when people started talking. there’s posters all over vicksburg saying “justice for erik” i’ve tried to do my own research, but i couldn’t find anything, hoping somehow you’d be able to find out more?
i love your hair!!
There is no way Ed was involved. His victim profile was older women not kids.
Thank you for another great video:)
I don’t know if you do requests but I’d love to see a video about Holly Bobo!
Love this! Is the name of the family pronounced Ras-MUSE-SIN?
No
It’s pronounced Ras-muss-en, I thought it was pronounced differently as well until listening to podcasts about the case.
Fun fact Marilyn Monroe had a long time adored hairdresser named Gladyss Rasmussen who also styled Jean Harlowe💖💕 R.I.P. Hartley😩
@@justrenee2640 🙂and her mother's name was also gladys! I've met her once! Gladys the hairdresser, obviously lol!
I've heard it that way and Ras-miss-sin.
As much as I would love to contribute to your patreon I sadly cannot as I am on a tight budget and have personal expenses and am saving up for a car and trying to keep a steady balance. I work part time at McDonald's for twelve an hour and barely work twenty hours a week so at this moment I will be saving my money and building my income but hopefully I might be able.to one day contribute.
The More Things Change it’s just a little side project I work on, no pressure at all to join, any support at all means the world to me ♥️
You are supporting her for free on youtube by watching the videos, ads if there are any and liking the videos and i think commenting. At least thats what i heard.
I love that @gabulosis has only 1 tier and shows so much appreciation to all of her fans!
Being a mom, I have to wonder why the parents didn't want her to leave the blanket at 7pm when she put Janice to bed? Why wait 15 minutes? Am I the only one who finds this odd?
No, you're sure not. Some babies are peculiar though, so maybe the baby would kick it off unless you waited until she was sound asleep?
I love your vids , keep it going❤️💖
well. this reminds me of my uncle which is my mother little brother.
in 1980s. my grandma gave birth to a little boy named tirta. but few months after she gave birth. my grandma relative wants to take care of my uncle. my grandma gave a note to her.
I love all of ur videos
Can you do a video on the murder of Clara Bates? It's a local case in my town that not many people know about
🚨🚨🚨🚨 Please do the case of Trudy Appleby she was also from Illinois but not the Windy City. She was abducted in Moline, IL and the case is still open it’s small town that gets no attention.
Selena Salazar never heard of this case but live about an hour and a half south of Moline...crazy
I live 25 miles away n never have heard of this... I'm 38 years old n always lived around lax
horrible thought, but maybe the original babysitter accidentally mentioned something thinking the family would be gone because she was not babysitting and the men took the chance... not realizing it was her causal comment, like outside a shop to a friend not noticing the man listening in that the house would be empty...
yikes, her poor mom, she must never have forgiven herself for not trusting her feeling! I hope they get closure and healing...
That is a good theory
I wonder if the farmer could have been the third person mentioned on the cassette? It does sound like he was involved but it also does seem like there would have been more than one person involved in taking her. I think given one of her shoes was found in the basement that they left through the window. That would have been much more likely to happen with two people, maybe one waiting outside. Then the third was driving, doing laps of the area and meeting them back at a specified place and time.
That’s what I was thinking. It could be possible the farmer and the taped conversation are connected.
I dont think ed left his comfort zone very much
Thank you for sharing. 💙💙💙👍🏼
Did the police look for Evelyn where the men on tape in the bar said she was?????
Yay! A new video!
*reads the title*
Hehe Hartley a trace that's so punny... I'm gonna be thinking about this for the next hour 😂
For those that dont know Ed Guin (Guien dont know how its spelled) he is the inspiration for Leatherface
Gein
@@reneeandrews7546 thank you i dont know why but in my mind there are like 5 different ways to spell it
I just watched a RUclips video on him a couple of days ago.
And Psycho aka Norman Bates
Please make longer videos!!!☺️☺️☺️

That seems possible. They may not have known there was a baby they just took her inbetween burglaries which, I think was the original intention.
I hope they find out about this.. I live in LaCrosse area very close. .
