I became an orthodox Christian in 2017 and I’m still learning more and more every single day because the faith established and taught by Christ is as deep and complex as God is. Not understanding something doesn’t make it untrue. Everything I’ve learned in orthodoxy was once something I didn’t exactly understand but sought answers with an open heart and mind and God has continually provided me with answer after answer.

According to scripture, this bowing of the knees and confessing with their mouths is something done by ALL peoples (without exception), and it is done without coercion by God or Christ. Paul taught in 1 Corinthians 12:3 that no one can truly confess that Jesus is Lord unless it is done through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. God indeed inspires our confession.
For a long time I thought God had left me, but steadily since my 30's (am now 40) have realized that it was me that left the path, shunned Jesus from my heart. I have slowly rediscovered my faith, and can seriously say that I am a better person for it.

And this is something I think Sam either forgets or doesn't fully understand. I used to be the same way. Then God taught me a lesson, until it became abundantly clear that, "No. Everyone doesn't have the ability to understand things the way I do." Whether he is truly that humble, to think everyone can do what he does, I do not know. But I too believe that is is a gift of the Holy Spirit. And God's gifts, in many instances, truly are above and beyond the abilities of many who have not been so blessed. (Or cursed I sometinmes think.) But then that's okay. Everyone is here for God's own reason. And regardless, we are all still made in His image.

It is crazy to listen to people justify the New Testament at least. Yes, we have over 5000 ancient documents regarding the NT, and they are all different from one another.
No one knows how many mistakes are in the texts. We do not have the originals. Christians often talk about how reliable these texts are, but they aren’t. They are no more reliable than any other ancient texts and in fact, we don’t even know how many mistakes there are. There are more mistakes in the documents of the New Testament, then there are words in the New Testament. Some say 200,000 mistakes. Some scholars say 400,000 mistakes. All the way up to 750,000 mistakes. But no one knows.
Most of the ancient documents we have (94% or so) come from 900 years later. There is hardly anything near the time of the documents, which is not unusual for ancient documents that got used to death.
