I have this exact same vehicle, and had a new long block installed July 2019 at the dealer for the same problem. That was at 85k miles. It is currently in the shop for yet another long block replacement, this time after 20k miles, for exactly the same issue. Lots of info on that motor being replaced in Fusions and Escapes in online forums. Good diagnostic work on your part - I liked the explanations.

VERY interesting considering the low mileage. I wouldn't suspect a faulty injector so early in engine's life. The weird issue with the advance timing on cylinder 2 has me intrigued... I don't know enough about these engines to even speculate an issue. Could a cam lobe have spun a bit? Looking forward part 2!
BTW, I totally agree about price of equipment & getting what you pay for! SO does tick me off when it comes to their products... even used, but I know owners are just trying to get their money back. 😕😐
No part 2 on this one! I install new injector and run the car for an hour no change. All compression lost thru the rings. As far as timing goes I couldn’t do more check since the engine is under warranty so he took car to dealer. It sucks when I can’t finish my diagnosis process! But it is just the way it goes on a shop environment.

I need help mark or anyone who has did engine swap on 2014 ford fusion 1.5 turbo quick question iam going to be changing out the engine with a used engine same engine i took out going back in with same engine now when i complete the install will the engine run or will i need to reprogram ecm or the pats keys
Interesting case study. Did you do a cyl leakdown Maic? Curious if compression is causing misfire resulting in fuel/oil in cylinder b/c that plug looked oil fouled and you said it smelled of oil. Injector was leaking a lot on cylinder 2 and compression cranking was 26 psi. Loosing almost all thru rings. Sorry I didn't capture all on the video. Sometimes in the shop is impossible to do it all.

Hayward's Automotive I had the car running today for over an hour and still no change. Same low compression at idle. Lucky for him engine is still under warranty. So that is as much as I can do.

That looked like a lot of oil in the cylinder and by the looks of the valves and combustion chamber it's been going on for awhile. Normally washout will result in no oil in the piston oil control rings or on the cylinder wall b/c of the fuel washout. Would have liked to see what a cylinder leakdown would show but with it being under warranty they need to get it to the dealership pronto 😎 Thanks for the follow-up Maic
These 1.5's like to suck oil from the valve cover into the intake. If you were to take that bore scope and look into the plenum, You would see a pool of oil in there. standing oil. This is a 1.5 trait. This is by far the most problematic motor ford ever made and they know it. They did a complete redesign of the engine in 2018. It's basically the 5.4L Triton of the 4 cyl world. My fusion with a 1.5 has 60K miles on the engine and starting yesterday, the engine started misfiring on all cylinders and today it wont even run. Dried making it to the store about an hour ago and it ran fine until out of nowhere it began misfiring to the point of ignition failure and stalled on the road. Took a hell of a time getting it into the driveway. I replaced the plugs and C.O.P'S to no avail. The timing usually never slips on those engines so its highly unlikely that it's the cause. Only thing left if fuel pressure and air delivery. checking for a vacuum leak tomorrow more in depth. I hear no hissing of any kind earlier. I due note. Do Not Buy A Ford 1.5 Liter Engine. Avoid them. Super problematic. I just put that engine in there as well, ran great for 6 months. Damn shame. Possibly taking it to Ford Tomorrow. Great diag by the way ☺

I have a 2016 1.5l eco boost 62k miles and randomly on the highway it started shaking, soon after engine light went on, soon after that engine light was flashing and lack of power. Exhaust smells like fuel and there’s hesitation. Took it to one shop and they replaced spark plugs and advised excess carbon build up, causing valves to not close properly. Recommended a replacement engine. P0300 code
I have the 2011 Ford Fusion and I got the code p0302 and it’s driving me crazy... haven’t drove my car for almost 2months.. car crank and drive but I rather leave it, I don’t wanna make it worse

My car has 90,000 miles and it kept stalling on me and now I’m stuck and out of warranty. Never will I buy a Ford product again!
Jimmy Ly and they know is their mistake! They should extend the warranty, but since they are consider domestic vehicles, they don’t care! The table of quality for them is lower and so is the emissions and other things that are pushed very hard on other cars. So they can sell junk!
@@j.balance7844 not on this one, the car was still covered by warranty so dealer end up replacing the engine. You need to check injectors first, that is the most common cause. Also it would be good to do a leak down test.
@@MaicSalazarDiagnostics You'll love the articulating borescopes especially for doing HVAC ductwork. It's sweet looking around in a cylinder and articulate 180 degrees and look at the entire combustion chamber and no twisting a borescope around to try and get the view you want.

These cars are junk even the 2.5l engines have loads of problems. Buy Toyota or Honda and problems solved. My wifes 2015 Fusion has been a real pos! Cracked head at 22k miles now at 50k miles after new coils and plugs still getting coil misfire codes. Trading the pos off for a Toyota.
when i had oil on the spark plug i had a cylinder failure. literally chunks sheared off the piston. it was really bad.. 2016 2.0l Ford fusion. the engines are garbage.

I have this car with coolanat leak into the Cylinder apparently Ford knows all about it. 60,000 miles on the car and now its junk or a new motor.
