I don't even remember how I came across the name of the disorder, but I'm glad there even is a name for it and that I'm not alone.

You are not alone, there are so many people around the world trapped in their daydreams. But it is possible to regain control on our life.

Thanks a lot Valeria for arranging such a informative talk on a subject for those suffering from this condition. This condition is not enjoyable at all. This realization will come, when one understand that one is living in hallucination.

Thank you for watching! You are absolutely right, it is not enjoyable but as people consider "daydream" a positive word, it can be difficult to make them understand how it feels like.

Prof. Somer's thoughts on MDD are informative and in many cases even a common sense. But as a person that suffers from MDD, I can't imagine training myself in being more mindful let alone going to a mental health professional to deal with the issue. I live in a country where people like that are labeled as crazy/insane, therefore avoided and socially ostracized. Being seen as a weirdo (undiagnosed) is bad enough.
Combination of listening to the music and reading favourite book/looking at the images from the favourite films/series is an instant trigger. Unfortunately, all this is readily available at all times in the current age of the internet and therefore cannot be avoided.

It is very bad indeed to be judged for mental health issues. Searching for professional help is usually the best strategy, but if someone can't have it, there are other ways to start at least improving your life; for example, with on-line lessons or support groups, or reading books that teach you mindfulness of other grounding strategies. I think that doing something is better than doing nothing at all. Valeria

Complimenti per i video e il vostro lavoro. Avrei una domanda? Ma secondo voi esiste una specifica relazione tra l'alta sensibilità dei PAS e il Maldaptive Daydreaming?

I have a son, he has a disorder, but until today I don't know wich one. Very hard to find out because he not accepted to talking about it. He passed a traum lost the father, after that with 13 years old I saw he talked alone. But the same time he like to look at the mirror all the time. Is very painful for a mother because your kids is intelligent and doesn't want to do nothing oly speak alone. And have habit to toch the her, or walking in circles....

Please be kind with your child, has an adult with MD, I already feel the blames of my mother when I was a child, with the only results that I felt more "wrong" and worsen the situation
