  • This is how I go about visualizing thermal in my head while in it. I thermal mostly based on feeling. I try to make it as visual as possible.
With this video I am trying to show how I go about looking for a thermal core and centering it. If you find this kind of content useful, let me know in comments bellow.
I'm committed to progression and I would love to help you progress as well.
If you are serious about getting better in paragliding, nothing helps as much as having a mentor! I always have had mentors along the way, I think this is the reason I was able to progress so fast and safe. I offer online mentorship on hourly, monthly and yearly bases with regular e-mail communication and one on one video call once a month. Great stuff! I would prefer a slower video that takes more time to explain and show the relationship between the thermal and your reaction in time and space. In this format, I found it really hard to follow, and the 3d-camera is a bit desorienting. I do appreciate the effort you put into being concise and on point though!

@@FlyingKarlis Yes !! You are the only channel on youtube that goes into detail on thermalling. We need to see the fine detail of what the experts are doing to get the lift and stay in it !! So if you have the time please can we have more.

Thank you! Will do. I went for a flight today, was a very calm day, so I filmed 5 minutes struggling in 0.5 m/s, this time I brought microphone to the flight and was talking while I was doing. It will be a lot slower pace as I am recoding "live". Will publish it soon! Thermaling is so complex, that I thought it is better to show how I do it, instead talk theory on how to do it. What do you think?

ok, so I'm not the only one being thrown around in this harness like a bag of potatoes 🤣

For sure not, this one is a bit twitchy harness. I wouldn't say I am being thrown around, but for sure this one is more sensitive than other pod harnesses out there.

I'd like to know more! Some suggestions to make it easier to understand:
Choose a better angle of view. In my opinion is somehow too wide. It's hard to get how much / how less your actions on the brakes are. Sometimes the whole direction rolls - very confusing.
maybe a split screen brakes / wing would be better.

Thanks for the tips! I am working on the next one and will see what I can do to improve. This one I filmed in real time in the air as I was thermaling, so it will be a lot slower. And I made sure the camera angle is slower and zoomed in more. Would love to here your thoughts once it is uploaded. Thank you very much for the input, much appreciated.
