Me: Hi Jello Biafra, how are you today?
Jello: Well, you know, Today was a song recorded by Smashing Pumpkins back in the early 90's, but there's a band called The New Christy Minstrels who also recorded a song called Today waaay back in like 1964 that was covered by artists named The Sandpipers and also Jimmy Rogers, both in 1967 and I believe John Denver also recorded that song too and stuff.........

Me: So how are YOU?
Jello: I feel good despite how shitty everything that's been going on and stuff, you know, I Feel Good by James Brown was one of those songs that really got the kids going back in.....

I don’t know why, but there is nothing more satisfying than watching the evolution of young Jello drawing all over young Nardwuar’s face with a marker, to doing a 3 hour interview with him decades later. And the 12 other interviews in between
I like the way his incisive, interrogative interviewing technique somehow managed to draw longer answers out of the notoriously tight-lipped Jello.
Because jello is talking about his passion which is collecting records.
If You asked me about cooking my own Indian Curry I could give u an Hour's worth
It doesn't take much to make Jello talk. Watch his Anthony Fantano interview. It's probably an hour long and Fantano probably asked less than 5 quesitons lol

Didn't know Nardwuar had had a stroke, but two? I remember discovering his videos like 13 years ago (i was 12 back then), i inmediatly liked him and began my music discovery journey based on some of the artists he interviewed. I hope he gets to live many more years and make many more interviews.
Jello's knowledge on records is amazing, but what's more amazing is his knowledge and passion for obscure niche trends and weird mediums of records produced as a product of their time is truly awesome. I could listen to him talk about records for hours.
My heart broke when Jello said Nard had a stroke..and two of them! :( stay strong Nard. The world needs you! Doot doot!

Jello really oughta make a RUclips channel discussing the history records and record collecting. Steve Albini has been doing RUclips videos for electrical audio lately that has gotten some attention so I'm sure Jello could build a RUclips audience too
That would be amazing
I just wish he wouldn't get so into these wacko records corporations or political people made to brainwash people. They are worthwhile to be aware of and scoff at but wish he'd more stick to cool musical stuff. I can listen to a great record hundreds of times and whereas I listen to way more stuff than most people you still have to draw the line. That being said all the records he is associated with musically are pretty high quality!
Enjoy seeing NardW quiet and captivated while letting Jello educate

Hearing and watching Jello talk about his process to make music is amazing and I hope other musicians use this as a template to make songs. I don't do this as much as I should but I have done it. The more you expand your musical reach the more different and unique your songs will be

There is a documentary on Netflix, titled Bathtubs over Broadway, about Steve Young from the Letterman show and his discovery of Industrial Musicals. Jello is featured throughout the doc.

Best giveaway record was Shadows Of Knight "Potato Chip". It was a flexi disc that came in bags of chips in 1966. They were known for doing the more famous version on Gloria, but they have some other banging garage stuff including this one that came in bags of potato chips!
Something tells me these industrial musicals were an inspiration for mel brooks when he made the producer. I mean a one time show that no one is ever gonna see with an insane budget? sounds pretty embezzly to me

You are enough of a music fan to watch Nardwuar and you are on Part II of the video (45+ minutes in) and you have never heard of Dead Kennedys? No shame in being a hip hop head who knows The Nard through his interviews with mumble rappers and 90s legends, but how did you get this far in the interview? To make a long story short, Jello is one of the Godfathers of American punk music.
