Yeah, Meri was trying to put on a good front but she was cleary heartbroken. I think Meri was hoping this would improve her relationship with Kody but instead it does the exact opposite.
Totally agree - Meri had a whole bigger picture she was hoping would come of her legally divorcing Kody. She knows Kody as well as or better than anyone. She hoped that by showing her devotion and loyalty to him - and to Robyn - that he would "like" her again and maybe give her some attention.
The only thing the divorce papers affected is who got to divvy up Kody's assets when he's dead! That's no longer a problem thanks to the manipulation of Robyn. She now has it all! 😠
So interesting too because in a talking head Janelle mentions how she trusted Meri to be fair with Kody’s assets but did not seem fully convinced that Robyn would do the same.
I would love to know who's idea for the divorce it really was? I doubt we will ever be told the facts. My guess is that Kody orchestrated this whole thing because of Robyn's constant fears about her ex which we now know was less than truthful. I think the legal divorce sealed Meri's fate for sure but the others could have maybe made it but Kody's obsession with Robyn and her family sealed the other wives fate also, divorce or no divorce.

It is my opinion that Meri was forced into the divorce. Kody suggested it, but Robyn put the idea into his head. That talk when she told them, neither one of them were surprised. I really don’t believe anything any of them did wasn’t planned ahead of time.

Kody is going proving in real time that God will not be mocked. He is a walking definition of poverty after years of taking advantage of people. They’ve always been too good for him and he is gonna spend the rest of his life in ‘f around and find out’ mode.

Saw that divorcing Kody scene at the lawyers. Why is Robyn there? ( to make sure Robyn locks down Meri) Kody barely mumbled thank you & practically ran out of the lawyers office to get away from Meri. Meri made a strategic move of agreeing to a legal divorce because she thought Kody would kiss her feet in gratitude. NOPE Paper shuffle is an insult to a woman who agreed to give up her #1 legal wife status. What Kody did not tell his 3 wives that Robyn was NOW #1 legal wife & she had power over the other wives. That is why Kody demanded Robyn get her apologizes or else. Nice Guy. Robyn everything - Other Browns get scrapes - maybe. Kody & Robyn did not invite Meri, Christine or Janelle to their happy couple legal marriage at the courthouse. Then the big honeymoon to get to "know" each other. Really sad. Kody's legal marriage to Robyn marked the END of polygamy for Kody. He had his true love. Everything that followed pretending to be a polygamist for TLC money was a lie.
When Kody asked Merri is the divorce going to change their relationship I think he was asking that to go alone with this whole lie they had been telling about being married and happy. I don’t think Merri should have divorced Kody. It was wrong for any of the wives to participate in taking a man’s kids away Robyn did everything she could to erase her first husband from their kids lives in my opinion. I think Merri was forced and guilted by Kody and Robyn to divorce. Robyn in my opinion was very greedy and selfish she had 3 women financially taking care of her and her kids she never satisfied she had to have it all plus some I think her and Kody destroyed the family
Meri in part continued to show up when Kody was wondering why she is showing up. Meri was in on the TLC paycheck. No problem for her to show up in Flagstaff to film crap to get the money. The Browns were poor, destitute in the past. No Brown adult was going to say no to TLC money for pretending to be a cohesive polygamy family.
If it really was a matter of "shuffling paper" in order to adopt the kids, then Kody should have divorced Robyn moments after the adoption and then re-married Meri to restore what little structure there was for the OG3. He is just on his own island of denial.
Kody had already melted the gold wedding ring that was Meri's wedding ring to Kody. Who is so hateful to melt a wedding ring. He had no problem to continue to have Meri hand over her earnings.
