So thinking as a parent, you have to protect, isolate them from life etc all the things Robyn considers protecting her kids is only stunting their reasoning & treating them like little kids when they are not little kids any more. When does Robyn expect them to have independent thoughts & behaviors? As far as it's not safe, based on what? That Kody might get upset & have some words with a son or daughter. That is what happens as kids move into the teen years. They are compelled to question & sometimes get into arguments or conflicts with a parent(s). That is normal as long as respect is there for the parent & parents need to respect that growing teens need their own thoughts to be said & considered.

He was there when Dayton had his serious injury riding an ATM that he did not know how to drive. Three examples that Kody is incompetent & heartless as a father figure. Take your pick Kody is a weak, lazy, greedy person. He does not deserve 18 kids. He does not care.

The surgeon told Christine & Kody on film that Ysabel needed immediate surgery for her spinal condition. They did useless exercises that did nothing for her condition (as a story line). Years later Christine finally crowd sourced the deductible for Ysabel to have surgery. Kody knew for years she needed surgery & he did not pay anything for it & did not support Ysabel during her recovery from a serious surgery. How low can a father be?

I dated a guy once that would mention other women he had dated and compare how they had been to me. I wasn't jealous but found it very strange as I had dated lots of guys before and none had ever done anything like that. He wanted me to move in with him and expected me to support him. He was in college FT and working PT, whereas I was working FT as a secretary and met him while taking a class at college. I declined and we broke up soon after. A year later his best friend ran into me and told me he had done terrible things, and I was lucky to be rid of him. I was thinking right but I felt nothing, and it confirmed breaking up was the right thing! Years later I saw him on the street, he was doing road work for a job, apparently never used his college degree, he didn't notice me. I was a nurse by then, but truth is over half of people with college degrees work in jobs that don't require them so think twice before spending money on it unless you have a specific goal or its for technical job training!

It’s just logical that knowing someone really well before committing to marriage makes sense. It did play out though that they were not meant to be, although I love what Christine is doing now ( but I still think she rushes into things).
I think if Kody had spent more time courting he wouldn’t have married his current wives. Kody didn’t realize how bad his personality and Meri’s would rub against each other. He didn’t realize how competitive Christine was. I think he ultimately decided not to marry for love but for practicality. Janelle for financial management, Christine for homemaking and childcare. Meri was for love… but Kody didn’t understand that she was very selfish and controlling and couldn’t manage sister wife relationships.
It is strange that Christine grew up in polygamy & should have known that being a 3rd wife is not the top wife position that Meri had under control. She thought she would be the last fun, younger wife but based on what? In polygamy, the husband can get as many wives as he can get.
