Purdy’s composure and pocket presence is unique for someone with so little NFL experience, it appears as if the game isn’t too fast for him and his off schedule playing ability is off the charts. I hope he continues playing for the 49ers for the foreseeable future. Thank you J.T. for your expert analysis, I’ve learned an incredible amount from your content. I’ve been a big time fan of yours when you were under center for the 49ers. You had the quickest release of anyone playing at the time. And, you threw a pretty ball. You were amazing. Please keep the vids coming. Blessings to you and your entire family. Happy holidays Sir! ✌🏾

I'm an old man, and I didn't play football in HS--I was in the band. TJ's channel is the best I've ever seen in terms of explaining how football works. He defines the jargon he uses, runs the plays several times to make his various points, and uses language accessible to laymen like me without watering things down or making us feel talked down to. Five stars. As a fan, the RUclips videos are enough for me, but if I were a HS or college quarterback I'd be all over that Patreon channel because it's obvious this dude knows his business and has made the transitions from professional quarterback to professional broadcaster/teacher with aplomb.

Brock Purdy is "Mr. Irrelevant" no more! He's in the right situation with Kyle Shanahan and the 49ners. As a Philadelphia Eagles' fan, there's much Philly sports talk about the niners and a possible playoff match up. Their defense is formidable, they're well coached, and have weapons on offense inspite of Debo Samuel's injury. And we know, a top defense, a strong running game, and efficient QB play can take any team to a conference championship game, possibly a Super Bowl title. As always, JT, you break it down with expert analysis. 🏉

@@ralphwilliams8083 Well let me put it like this: Our Team isnt down on Trey. There was definitely a Pro Jimmy/Pro Trey dynamic in the locker room. So when Trey went down there were guys who were NOTICEABLY pleased with Jimmy being back under center.
When Jimmy went down 2 weeks ago you could tell there was a shift of the”Pro Jimmy” Guys pushing for Brock.
So yea, Trey doesn’t have the entire locker rooms full support. I’d say if Brock Takes us to the equivalent level of success that we had last year (NFC Championship Game) Win, Lose, or Draw. There’s a QB Competition next year between Trey and Brock. The locker room would demand it. That’s the beauty of things over here, players have a really big input on moves, it’s makes them feel included and appreciated. So when it’s time to negotiate we almost always sign our guys. They love the culture.
And that’s my next point. Whoever is playing QB for us, literally gives us the best chance to win. So if Brock beats out Trey next year, so be it. That’s not to say I still don’t have FULL confidence in Trey as well. Honestly I’m glad Jimmy is gone. We been carrying him for years.

QB School did a breakdown of Purdy while he was still at school and presaged how Purdy does some really good things fundamentally, shows athleticism, and makes good decisions. Purdy wound up being Mr. Irrelevant, but, based on that breakdown, if J.T. had been a scout, it sounds like he would have taken him earlier. It's early days, but this kid has shown the kind of poise and talent that's way rare in a rookie QB. We might be seeing the beginning of a special career.

I'll keep asking, can you please do a Jared Goff video? I don't know enough and lions RUclipsrs seem more interested in drama than tape. One interesting thing for you to look at, Goff changed his footwork in the off-season. This year he's putting his left foot forward instead of right in shotgun. It's supposed to eliminate an extra hitch before his drop back starts and gives him a better platform for throws on the left side of the field

20:39 you can see him deftly holding the linebackers in the middle so that corner stop route or whatever you call it stays open. Watch where his helmet is pointing then he literally just glances over and throws it the same instant

Thanks man. Probably my favorite channel. Can we do something about the heavy breathing and mouth noises in my ear though. Literally can't listen with headphones anymore.

I feel like Jimmy would have taken 4-5 sacks in the 1st half, but Brock has great pocket movement and isn't afraid to get hit. I have also never seen Jimmy make that throw that Brock made to CMC, 30yd rope to sideline. I know its one start, and that I just hate watching Jimmy, but this guy looks a like a major upgrade to the passing game if he continues to limit the mistakes.

On the play around the 7 minute park, if that slot guy runs a corner instead of a post, he’s WAO

Considering he ran the scout team for the niners against their 1st team defense I’m sure he’s used to playing against top tier defense with little to no weapons. Now he’s going against worse defenses (because the niners have the best defense in the league by far) with an absolutely loaded offense. He’s playing on easy mode now.

JT, I know you are a big fan of Jimmy's footwork. Do you see a major similarity in Purdy's footwork and quick release to Jimmy in that sense? I realize Purdy is less refined in his footwork but I think he can also make some throws (or be willing to make them) than Jimmy also.

dropping back more vertical on that naked boot seems like it wouldve made the move to make the defender miss less likely, no? obviously buying more time is the optimal as youre not going to get the rush to bite every time but I was just thinking about those two choices when you brought up flat v vertical there. awesome vid, as per usual

You're 100% right. He would have been sacked.
The short angle, allowed him to react to the pressure.
For some reason, coaches think that a longer drop offers protection, but in reality, it never does.

How much of a concern do you think Purdy’s arm strength is? Those two deep balls were under thrown and better defensive units could easily pick those off.
