The probem is that the images are too small. Nightcafe images are 512x512px. So it doesn't fit with Amazon merch.
You can upgrade the size of the image on the site by using credits and then reformat it with whatever editor you use. Agreed you would need a higher resolution file to work with it for a Merch design.
